301  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [IDEA] Connect active PFC PSU to 208V. on: July 26, 2012, 07:49:45 PM
Yup, that's correct. If you are interested, I'm selling a custom power strip that I built for that purpose over here at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=92925.0

I'd love to buy it, but shipping would be extremely expensive to Venezuela. I'll have to use normal NEMA 5-15 plugs, but I'll paint the receptacles red and place a warning, people here can be extremely stupid with electricity and I don't want to waste two wires and purchase even more receptacles.

Thanks for your reply
302  Bitcoin / Mining support / [IDEA] Connect active PFC PSU to 208V. on: July 26, 2012, 07:32:53 PM
Hi. I think I can reduce the load in my electrical installation by connecting the PSUs in this way, as I have 120V one phase, and 208V by using 120V and 120V lines together. But, I think I should connect the PSUs wires in this way: Live to live, neutral to second live, and ground to ground.

Is this correct?. Thanks in advance.

I'll try to do that at least on my local rig, about 550 khps, but the other rigs aren't configurable by me right now. And, litecoin mining is the same or more profitable than BTC mining right now.

I don't know why this reminds me of Stock Generation. Anyways, good luck on that idea.  Cheesy

307  Economy / Economics / Re: Email "Free Yubikeys" Is it a scam? on: July 25, 2012, 10:39:03 PM
I didn't get it. I assume it's because I didn't have any aborted transactions when mt.gox was hacked.

Normally I have to install 11.6 drivers full, then uninstall them, then install 12.1 drivers and then install 2.1 SDK. If not, OpenCL devices aren't detected.

Just to know, in China, can you use google in https mode?. Do you have end-to-end encryption or the govt firewall decrypts, filters and re encrypt?. That's a question that's killing me.

This forum is really crazy. Alternate Cryptocurrencies subforum is trolls vs trolls, by my opinion it's the worst part of bitcointalk.org. I even like the alternate cryptocurrencies.

Also, BitcoinEXpress, I don't really like what you're doing, I think litecoin doesn't only belong to coblee, it belongs to the community. I can't/won't/don't care to stop you, it's just my opinion, I don't think it's the right thing to do. Anyway you have the choice.

Thanks for your time possibly reading this.

I don't know about can't, could throw a GPU or two of the 3.25GH/s you got going on to the LTC network for a few days  Wink

I guess I could, but I don't want to get involved into this messy trolling haven. Although if the coin becomes at-risk I'll probably do 1 or 2 GPUs. The other PCs I've got are inaccessible to me right now.

Actually my family called bitcoin that way when I explained it to them. They still don't understand Tongue

313  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best way to acquire bitcoins if your under 18? Harder than you think :/ on: July 24, 2012, 11:57:51 PM
Personally I get my bitcoins by mining, it's way too hard for a teenager living outside the US to use/register in the US banking system, and even more hard because we have currency exchange control.

FYI if I need quick bitcoins I just do the math and ask for a loan I'm 100% sure I can pay. However I don't think anyone will lend to you unless you make a reputation online.
314  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinSpinner on: July 24, 2012, 11:23:22 PM
Define reasonable.  What is reasonable security for one person with enough bitcoin on his phone to pay for a night on the town is going to be different than reasonable security for a cash mule trying to stay alive and deliver goods to the Zeta's.
I think we need to talk about our target audience.

Which is what?

Crypto-nerds?.

Personally I think that the program should be left this way, or just with encryption that protects you for like 3 days bruteforcing with several GPUs. (I think) You shouldn't break the balance between practicality and security, specially if it's a mobile system that nobody should use with 10k USD. Weak encryption is practical(using thousands of PBKDF2 rounds), specially if someone steals your device, you can get to your home and sweep your addresses easily.

Is there any mining calculator for LTC?. I've got 1 5850, 11 5830 and 1 5770, do I get more by mining LTC?.
316  Economy / Lending / Re: Help Want to Lend 22BTC long period please on: July 24, 2012, 09:16:59 PM
Two points:

1: For the trolls, the guy is not 100% with his English and there are enough people visiting this forum that mix lend and borrow that it is obvious a deficiency in education programmes across the world.   Clarification can be done nicely.
Even if this is not a legitimate request, and the lending sub-forum can provide good entertainment, I would appreciate if you could resist jumping up and down on new people quite so hard.  Get inventive.  This is not directed simply at this thread but a little more widely.

2: For the OP: The points made above about the unreleased BFL SC range are valid.  The equipment might be available this year, and there are already many that have jumped on the "give BFL free money" bandwagon.  You would be better to obtain lower cost financing outside of the forum because rates here are typically very high (similar percentages, but monthly not annually), or at least research the likely delivery times once the equipment is actually available.

I try not to be a troll with grammar, but I can't trust people that their writing style reminds me of every 419 scam I get in the mail. I just can't sleep nicely knowing my money is in the hands of someone suspicious. However, I don't really care about their writing/being new if they can provide enough evidence they'll pay back the loan. This guy does not, for me, at least right now. I don't care about the common mistakes, like "alot", or other things, unless I can't understand their point clearly.
317  Economy / Lending / Pre-approving lendees! (get your loan preapproved from me!) [17 BTC AVAIL!] on: July 24, 2012, 08:51:58 PM
Hi. I'll be getting some money to lend in a short time probably, so I don't want to waste my time (time=money) by having my money sitting around doing nothing. That's why I'm testing this idea.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFFMNXhxUUJyWThxd1lOTUplck03SlE6MQ

Please fill that form, data that isn't obligatory may be skipped if you want more privacy, although doing that may cause that I don't accept your loan request, or ask for more interest.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: 17 BTC available!

The title of the presentation, "How to Hack Millions of Routers," gives a clear indication of the scale of the potential issues. Popular router models from Netgear, Linksys, and Belkin were found to be vulnerable, including models used for Verizon's FIOS and DSL services, as were widely-used third-party firmwares such as DD-WRT and OpenWrt. About half the routers tested did not appear to be vulnerable.

pfSense includes two built in methods of protection against DNS rebinding attacks.
http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/DNS_Rebinding_Protections

Well, I don't really care, if we get confirmed cases of the attack I'll just disable telnet & SSH to my router by dd-wrt, change the password to use a more secure one, disable UPnP and vulnerable features, and hope I don't get targeted. Also I think that with current secure browsing you can detect that sites are using self-signed certificates and not trusted-authority-signed ones. And, plus, my router is behind two load balancers plus a web cache server plus a hotspot server. And, I have a firewall in my computer, and wallet's encrypted. And, all of that just reduces the chance of my router/bitcoins getting targeted, if some of these black hat guys really want to get me, they will do so, this isn't the FBI nor "cyber-police" nor anything of that.

Meh, if it becomes true I'll just pay a VPN service from a trusted provider with fixed IP and browse through that, although vulnerabilities are always found on windows. I'm screwed Sad
320  Bitcoin / Mining support / Is there anything I need to know before getting dual GPU cards? on: July 23, 2012, 02:43:23 AM
Hi. I'm planning to get either one 5970 or one 6990, and place it on my main rig, that currently has a 5850 and a 5830. I'll move the 5850 to the 4x PCI-E slot and leave the dual-GPU card on my 2.0 16x slot. I just want to know if I need to consider anything else before getting that card?. My PSU is an Antec Earthwatts 650W green, 80 PLUS bronze, it can give about 620W on 12V rails. Will my PSU hold up?.

Anyways, I don't think that will be too much of an issue, as I could swap my 5850 with a 5830 from another rig to lower my PSU load, but my main question is in drivers. Is there any kind of problem by mixing a 5830/5850 with a 6990 or 5970?. I'm currently using 12.1 with SDK 2.1, so I don't know if there's any common denominator for the recommended drivers of those cards.

Thanks in advance to all of you.
