1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can you use Bitcoin as a practical currency? on: October 04, 2018, 10:01:11 AM
Hello All, I have a question.
If I want to use bitcoin as practical or daily currency then what should I do?
Is American express or VISA offer such kind of opportunity so far?
I am very excited to read something special here: https://reliable.cash/t/can-you-use-bitcoin-as-a-practical-currency/33
Specially these are amazing to me:

Quote
There are many reasons for bitcoin to be not used as a practical currency. Some are listed here.

  • Some users lack the infrastructure required to use bitcoin
Some users lack the knowledge required to use bitcoin
It will not be a good solution for day to day purchase
It takes time to process a transaction that is why it is not practical at all
Not many stores accept bitcoin as a payment either online or offline
    Stability in pricing
Strong network infrastructure required for its payment to process

Now I want to purchase my Pizza using Bitcoin Cheesy
What do you think brothers?

you can use it easily for online payments, also there are some cards that let you connect your account with cryptocurrencies, such as revolut for instance. Just do the research
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Power consumption of Bitcoin mining on: October 04, 2018, 10:00:30 AM
Today I read this article.....

https://www.ccn.com/bitcoins-electricity-usage-could-power-all-of-austria-in-the-future/

It says in 2018 Bitcoin mining may consume 0.5% of world’s electricity in 2018.
I think this is because the mechanism "PoW" of Bitcoin. It costs a lot of power. And it looks like this statistics only includes Bitcoin, but there are still other coins can be mined.
I am sure for some people this is not environment-friendly and this could be used as the reason to restrict Bitcoin.

Will this affect the future of Bitcoin? or will there be any new energy-saving mining method for Bitcoin or other coins? How do you think about this?

well it's quite a lot, I also feel like the energy consumption caused by bitcoin mining should be solved somehow, it's not good to contribute more to the greenhouse effect. We should be more progressive as community than that
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is investing on ICOs still profitable? on: October 03, 2018, 10:18:51 AM
Hello everyone, I have seen many failed projects recently. I have received many emails regarding investing on ICOs, so is it still a good time to invest? I didn't made good with my earlier investments. Is there still a future for ERC-20 tokens?

it doesn't take 1 month to deliver the project after the ICO. So even the first ICOs still couldn't fulfil their initial potential, because to launch the project it simply takes time. You see the ICO successful when you sell your tokens for more on the exchange, but that's not the point
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Are all the bounties coming out right now garbage? on: October 03, 2018, 10:17:50 AM
I have been looking through the forum for potential bounties this week and most look like absolute garbage or rehashes of coins we already have.  Are you guys experiencing this?  I wen through about 20 projects and didn't find one good one.  Looks like the days of grabbing a bunch of ICO's and hoping for the best is over.  There is way to much garbage out there right now.

there are always good projects coming, many ICOs mostly copy paste the existing ones, that is the truth. But it doesn't mean that there won't be new ICOs that will come up with something new and cool
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who Agrees with Me? on: October 03, 2018, 10:16:57 AM
So I started noticing a pattern.
Everytime the market goes to the moon, the down trend lasts for a several weeks. Meaning, only when Bitcoin it's going to be at it's highest, the altcoins are going to be at the lowest point.
Then, the money from Bitcoin will start going to the Altcoins, making them going up even more.

Have you noticed the same thing?

not exactly. When bitcoin goes up, altcoins go usually too. It's true that btc dominance is increasing, which is only natural, but it doesn't mean that btc price goes up and alts to mininum.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a Digital Gold?? on: October 02, 2018, 02:45:46 PM
Sure yes!  Since the world of new digital technology is not far off.  And most countries have already started using it.

fact that the countries are using bitcoin it doesn't mean it's same as gold. It has surely some similarities, but also many differences. There is no need to compare bitcoin to gold, it's just something else
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin become currency a new State? on: October 02, 2018, 02:44:57 PM
I think, a lot of us saw Bitcoin like tool for freedom. Now most people look at this like opportunity for enrichment. I don’t think that rich equals freedom. I know a many rich people’s. They are far from freedom.

It is now evident that just cryptocurrencies is not sufficient to achieve the goal. We need a State at our side. But current States seek to preserve the old order.

State it is a community with uniform rules. Territorial principle don’t need for creation of the State in the 21st century. So what do you think what's to stop us to come together and creation a new State now?

you're right, at the early stage, it was mostly about the decentralization and freedom. Now it's pure speculation from people who want to get rich very very fast. Nothing of use there. Let's develop bitcoin as payment solution, rest will come
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin bring an end to Paypal? on: October 02, 2018, 02:43:53 PM
In the spirit of mass adoption we are likely going to see the death of PayPal and other payment gateways. Do you foresee the death of PayPal soon by Bitcoin? At some point people would want to feel safe in not tying their credit cards to any online payment gateway. Your thoughts?

I don't see Paypal to stop operations. They can simply adapt by accepting crypto. If they do so, huge amount of their user base will get option to purchase and use digital currencies, most likely they would be successful in that business too
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Continues to Consolidate As Volatility Reaches Lows of 2018 on: October 02, 2018, 02:42:44 PM
Bitcoin BTC technical analysis for 1st October 2018. Bitcoin continues to consolidate as we enter Q4 of 2018. We have experienced a prolonged bear market for the first three quarters of 2018, will the last quarter be any different?

https://blokt.com/technical-analysis/bitcoin-continues-to-consolidate-as-volatility-reaches-lows-of-2018

I think the last quarter will exhibit a bullish market. We have been in the bear market for quite a very long time now since the year started. Hoping that by the last quarter there will be a recovery when it comes to bitcoin's performance in the market.

Whether we end this year a bear or bull market, I still believe in the technology and always supporting bitcoin. What are your thoughts on this guys?
everyone thinks that the bullish market is tomorrow. People saying that in march were saying tomorrow, same goes for april, may etc. Prices will grow, no need to worry, we just don't know when. Let's stop persuading ourselves we do
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Artificial Intelligence on: October 02, 2018, 02:41:35 PM
Can someone explain how artificial intelligence will effect blockchain/crypto projects from now on? What is the importance of artificial intelligence?

artificial intelligence is basically a very clever code that can foresee stuff and make educated decisions. It can be applied probably to any segment of blockchain solutions.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Government bans Bitcoins? on: October 01, 2018, 01:28:03 PM
If your Country bans Bitcoin, transfer your Bitcoin to a wallet of a foreign country (Coinbase operates in 32 countries). If you want to cash in, then use third party services like Virwox to get USD in Paypal, then use Paypal to get cash in your local currency.

Bitcoin is like Torrent, peer to peer and you can’t block it. If you have access to internet, You can use Bitcoin anytime, anywhere!

I'm not sure if coinbase is exactly the company you can rely on if your country bans bitcoin, as they will very likely report to the local authorities sooner or later. But there are other options, such as decentralized exchanges.
12  Other / Off-topic / Re: Soon we would not need banks on: October 01, 2018, 01:26:23 PM
The Ceo of Bitcoin cash recently stated that soon people wouldn't be needing banks anymore.Does it mean the world is going crypto soon or he is just bluffing.

Bitcoin cash officially doesn't have CEO, although it's true that Roger Ver often seems like the one for the job. Anyway it's true the way we bank today is going to change thanks to bitcoin
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why shouldn’t we be concerned? on: October 01, 2018, 01:23:02 PM
Yes, indeed, the crypto-currency market is cyclical, but the cycles do not repeat so quickly. We will definitely see the market grow, but it will not happen so fast.

you don't know when it happens, it can be fast, it might never happen. I also tend to believe based on the previous experiences that the upward trend is just around the corner.

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll reveals 2% of American investors own Bitcoin on: August 24, 2018, 06:29:55 AM
A recent Gallup poll shows the early adopters of Bitcoin among American investors.

2% might not sound like it's a lot but it's a very good start for such a new investment category. The question is what else needs to be done to get that 2% number higher?

You can read about the poll and the other results of the survey here: https://bitcoinist.com/quarter-us-investors-intrigued-bitcoin-poll/

If it's only for the investors, it's really low number. 2% of all americans would be much better. But still, it's a start, we all need to work hard to promote bitcoin and make it more widespread
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Community Is Now Dominated by Speculators Not Criminals!! on: August 24, 2018, 06:26:00 AM
Currently, the ratio of legal to illegal activity on the bitcoin network has completely changed trend as the former surpasses the former. This was stated by DEA Agent Lilita Infante at the U.S Drug Enforcement Administration.

Is the number of criminals on the bitcoin network has significantly reduced compared to early days?

https://coinpedia.org/news/bitcoin-network-speculators-not-criminals/

I'm wondering what is better though. Speculators are really annoying, every post on this forum is about the price instead of a proper conversation on how the tech can help out
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: situation about the condition of bitcoin ! on: August 24, 2018, 06:25:08 AM
certainly hope and pray for bitcoin recover soon to jump. do not run away in despair or sadness, because it will not change the situation to compassion and pity. but this kind of situation, I don't think it will be for a long time. trust and think positively about bitcoin again in a stable performance on the market.

all this price nonsense over and over again. It's like you people really couldn't care less about the actual technology and what it can do for the world. Only money bothers you......
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Once again, bitcoin investors hold their breath for an ETF approval on: August 24, 2018, 06:24:19 AM
Every few weeks this summer, bitcoin bulls have gotten a ray of hope from U.S. regulators.

This week, that optimism is coming from the possibility a bitcoin exchange-traded fund, or ETF, will be approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

What would be the first-ever bitcoin-based ETF is being decided on by the SEC on Thursday, the deadline according to the Federal Register.

ProShares, which has about $30 billion in assets under management, filed for two bitcoin ETFs in September. The ETFs plan to track bitcoin futures contracts traded on the Chicago Board of Options Exchange and will trade on NYSE Arca, according to the SEC filing. ProShares declined to comment on the status of its application.

Exchange-traded funds track an index or group of assets but trade like stocks. The approval of one could bring in a wave of institutional buyers and, because bitcoin has a fixed supply, theoretically push up prices.

Hunter Horsley‏, CEO of Bitwise Asset Management, which submitted its own ETF proposal to the SEC in June, said investors shouldn't read into Thursday's deadline.

"An SEC filing hitting a deadline is a procedural reality — it doesn't change the odds of it getting approved, it just draws our attention to it," Horsley said. "Just because we hit the deadline doesn't necessarily give any indication that the SEC has changed its tune."

Struggling bitcoin prices jumped ahead of other SEC deadlines for ETFs this summer. The cryptocurrency rallied 20 percent, above $8,000, in late July on rumors that another ETF, proposed by VanEck, would be approved in August. That decision was later postponed by the agency.

This week, price moves have been more subtle. The cryptocurrency rose roughly 3 percent to a high of $6,858.61, according to data from CoinDesk. Bitcoin is still down more than 50 percent this year and more than 65 percent from its high near $20,000.

“You do not want to give Jeff Bezos a seven-year head start.”
Hear what else Buffett has to say

Brian Kelly, CEO and founder of BKCM, said investors are getting more cautious and have stopped betting big ahead of these SEC deadlines.

"My view is still [that] this does not get approved tomorrow, but I feel we're making large steps and getting closer to it," Kelly said. "There's a better chance this gets approved than anything else."

One reason the ProShares ETF might be more appealing to regulators is because it's based on futures trading. The agency has cited the lack of regulation in bitcoin exchanges. But bitcoin futures trade on the SEC-regulated CBOE.

ProShares is hardly the only group looking to list an ETF.

In late July, the Securities and Exchange Commission rejected a second attempt by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, founders of crypto exchange Gemini, to list the first-ever cryptocurrency ETF on a regulated exchange. The same week, the SEC delayed deliberations on five other bitcoin ETFs filed by NYSE Arca, Inc. Asset manager Bitwise joined the list of hopefuls in July and filed for an ETF that would track a basket of cryptocurrencies.

After the Winklevoss rejection, the agency reiterated its mission to prevent fraudulent or manipulative acts or practices and to protect investors. The agency has repeatedly mentioned the possibility of fraud and manipulation of bitcoin, particularly since this is done in a largely unregulated offshore market.

The financial watchdog emphasized in the Winklevoss decision that the disapproval did not rest on whether bitcoin or blockchain technology had value as an innovation, or an investment.

SEC Commissioner Hester M. Peirce was the lone dissenter in the agency's decision on the Winklevoss ETF. She published an open letter that bitcoin bulls saw as a positive sign for an eventual approval.

"More institutional participation would ameliorate many of the Commission's concerns with the bitcoin market that underlie its disapproval order," Peirce wrote. "I am concerned that the Commission's approach undermines investor protection by precluding greater institutionalization of the bitcoin market."

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/08/22/once-again-bitcoin-investors-hold-their-breath-for-an-etf-approval.html

I don't care about ETF approval. I care about regular people using cryptocurrencies and therefore getting the control of their own finance instead of being controlled by centralized institutions.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Current cryptocurrency market situation on: August 24, 2018, 06:23:15 AM
What is your opinion on the current market situation?  2018 has not been our year. It's been quite rough for cryptocurrency prices, with the most recent slump being from June 10, the market continues to fluctuate and change. But things seem to be looking up and bitcoin has reached its peak this summer, topping $8,000.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/what-is-going-on-with-the-crypto-markets-experts-share-opinions

first of all, the year is only in its half now. Secondly, it is not about the prices. I see great progress in blockchain industry, many new projects with really great potential. That's what matters
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Future Of Crypto Market Without Bitcoin? on: August 22, 2018, 12:37:30 PM
Its hard to think whether cryptos can continue or not without bitcoin, but rather there are extremely encouraging activities that as of now have a Foundation or their own particular items. Bitcoin holds the greater part of the capitalization. hence, it can not be erased.

technically it can be erased easily, especially if people stop using it. But that's absolutely unlikely and basically impossible given the value people give to bitcoin in their heads
