Thank you so much for providing the other tutorials. I was able to reinstall my OS and get all 6 cards running today.

I will say if anybody is reading this and having troubles mining ether. The DAG is ~1.4Gb and the cards with 2Gb are hard to get running.

I had to allocate more memory usage to each card before i could mine.

Code:
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=95
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 6 GPU rig with Ubuntu trouble (Ether) on: August 04, 2015, 12:26:47 AM
Hello and thank you for any help received.

I am trying to set up a 6 GPU mining rig for the first time
.
Specs:
OS: Ubuntu 14.0.4
Mobo: asrock H81 pro btc
ram: 8Gb
CPU: Intel
Integrated graphics: Intel
6x AMD r9 270's
PCI risers

Everything lights up and works fine but I can't get the graphics cards to behave properly.

If I plug in the VGA into any of the integrated on-board graphics while I have any of the AMD cards plugged in the OS goes to a black screen right before the login screen (I am still able to open terminal). I am able to operate normally if I plug the VGA into one of the graphics cards and tell the bios to use PCI. However when I go to mine only one of the 6 cards is used. The OS seems to recognize all of the other cards.

I installed all of the drivers correctly here is the output of the opencl showing the 6 cards
http://pastebin.com/VMdwNyRH

Here is my xorg.conf file
http://pastebin.com/ybqAryBA

I also have another xorg.conf file that was created with todays date appended to the file name, and for some reason this is the file you get when you nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf (even though the file name in the explorer is xorg.conf.08032015)
http://pastebin.com/tc49UCuV

I am trying to mine Ether and followed their setup and can mine with one card at a time using $ethminer -G --opencl-device 0 through 5. Although it only feels like one card is heating up. If i try to open two devices at the same time ethminer tells me I do not have enough enough memory on the card. The cards are 2Gb and ethminer uses 1.4Gb for the DAG. The error message says I only have 700Mb on the second card I try opening up which looks as though it's trying to load on the same card that's already mining.

Here's the error message.

[OPENCL]:OpenCL device Pitcairn has insufficient GPU memory.838860800 bytes of memory found < 1423739904 bytes of memory required

Thanks again for any help.
4  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Qt Bitcoin Trader [Open Source secure trading client for Mac/Windows/Linux] on: April 27, 2015, 01:10:36 AM
Greetings, First thank you for the open source software.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but has anyone been successful adding new exchanges to Qt Trader? I would like to customize the software to connect to some new exchange APIs.

Thanks for the reply.

What happens if Alty wants to send Cloakcoin to Joe but Joe is offline?

Joe receives Altys CLOAK like any normal wallet.  Offline wallets have been tested to work. Since wallet build #19 of 27
The wallet can be offline and still respond to Alty's request for new _PoSA address? That's some pretty cool magic.  Can you explain how that works?

Magic?

Joe does not do anything when _PoSA is generated.  Alty knows Joe's address and is initiating a transaction.  This prompts the PoSA nodes to generate the necessary addresses and the funds are shipped.  There are no actions required from Joe's wallet.
In the diagram, there's a box there on the upper right that reads: "Tells Joe to Create _PoSA Address and receive it from him".  Then there's another box that reads "Send _PoSA address to Anty from Joe". Looks pretty clear to me that Joe's client needs to be online to generate the _PoSA address. Is the diagram wrong?

That flow chart is the worst thing ever and I agree is confusing.  Just because Joe can generate _Posa does not mean he has to.  There are even now options to decide how anon you want to be and how many times you want your transaction to be split. There will be a node to create _posa.  I have tested turning my wallet off and have received txs sent via posa.

It doesn't matter how many nodes there are.  It only matters how many levels of mixing separate the outputs.

The first people creating encryption algorithms thought that "mixing" bits or rearranging them as many was as possible was the best way to deal with cyphers.  There are more clever ways like hiding.

DES was cracked very early on using your thought path.  Triple AES still survives.  Math trap doors and hiding are better.

It sounds like it will be a problem.  Is there are technical description of the protocol available yet?

No, if I gave you a white paper today it would be out of date tomorrow.

This is very immature thinking and easily bypassed.

Open Wallet1, send in 1 coin. Become a bad actor.

Open new wallet2 and send 1 coin from wallet 1--> wallet 2. Shutdown Wallet 1

Become bad actor.

Repeat that over and over and you do the math on how this can be scaled out to attack the network and as you steal more coins can exponentially grow the attack footprint.

How much does it cost to own a bad IP and be a spy on tor?

Not much, hence why Tor has already been compromised:

Yet you will probably still bitorrent porn tonight.

I hope you do seriously think about these things because there are a few other large security risks I can see from this design.

So to all those in this thread who keep humming "we have working anonymity".....from my perspective, its not even close.

You will see us at blackhat.  The internet isn't safe I'm afraid.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: July 31, 2014, 08:43:39 AM

Also whats to stop a bad actor from creating as many wallets/nodes as he/she wishes and capturing the data / stealing incoming transactions. This was done with XC rev 1.0 and the same applies to Cloak's design.

A system we have put in place to require a small investment to be a node thus stopping unlimited bad nodes by investment deterrence.

small investment...isnt that the same as masternodes for DRK???

additionally, how will you blacklist - XC had its dynamic learning trust system which went down the drain....any black listing system is easily flawed and centralized.

Obviously black listing will not be enough.  No you will not have to have 1000 CLOAK like a masternode.  But if you want 1000 nodes on the network spying it will cost you.

You have not thought this through.

Coin quantity is not the factor as it moves dynamically with price...1000 drk coin cost $10 back in the day. If cloak even had 10 coins to become a node, in 5 years that price might be unobtainable for most....get my point??? so essentially it is the SAME as DRK masternodes.

You must be a day trader.  Our code is not static and there is no node price setting.  This is a network

How so - do you propose to dynamically change the number of coins required to become a node based on the market price???

Edit: you say small investment, but how do you know what that same investment is worth in 6 months time to become a node?

All I mean is that an empty wallet has been programmed to not be allowed to be a node.  You can do the math on percentages, I will not take the time for you.
