But if you can access the .com why you want to access the mirror one?

The .com was down for hours when I posted this thread.
82  Economy / Exchanges / BTC-e.nz Legit or Scam? on: March 02, 2016, 06:39:21 PM
I just came across this site in google but I never heard of it before and I've never seen it associated with the .com before. It is a clone and to me appears to be a phishing site. The chat box information seems to be dated as well.
I certainly won't ever attempt to login unless BTC-e.com verifies them as legit.

What do you think it is?

Anywhere under $1,000 is a good buy!
In a few years, they will say anywhere under $2,000 is good. Roll Eyes
86  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Easyhits4u credits to promote your site on: February 27, 2016, 03:01:39 AM
As an old school user of EasyHits4U, I'll let you in on a little secret.
Simply find a buyer of credits, then have them sign up under your EH4U account.
Have them pay you first via a payment processor, then send them an EH4U personal message where you send them a gift of credits.
You can send any amount via PM to their account, all the buyer/referral has to do is click a link in the PM to claim it. Wink

89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Estranged Core Developer Gavin Andresen Finally Makes Sensible 2MB BIP Proposal! on: February 10, 2016, 08:43:23 AM

You can assume that everyone will immediately update to Classic nodes and therefore that only one chain will survive. But that's unlikely. I sure won't be updating.

You'll probably be DUMPING!!!  Grin

Well, that depends how it pans out. Cheesy

Yes, dumping is a realistic option. So is double spending on one chain vs. the other. Or some combination. It will be interesting if the hard fork breaks consensus, I'll say that much.

I know that I will be dumping both chains if we fork to a new client.

I will buy bitcoins for $1 each after you and your Core supporters crash the market and then wait for the next new moon! Grin

It would not be bad; we'd get some experience with HF's. An increase of 100 KB every X amount of blocks until we reach 2 MB.

This is all people were asking for!
Did it really take 23 pages in a thread to hear you agree with a proposal?
Since you are such a staunch Core supporter, perhaps you can suggest it to the team and break down these divisive walls!

Gavin said himself that he doesn't see bitcoin as a store of value, just a means of exchange like any other currency:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=204.msg1714#msg1714

Quote
I plan on using Bitcoins as a convenient, very-low-cost means of exchange. I don't plan on saving a significant number of Bitcoins as a store of value.

He then goes on to compare hoarding bitcoin to
Quote
hoarding dollars or euros or yen

Quote
Some people, like Gavin, don't care about bitcoin's value proposition. They just see it as a payment channel. That's okay, but I strongly disagree.

I actually was looking for an alternative to E-gold where I could bypass the insane restrictions of PayPal when I discovered Bitcoin. It was and still is just a way to transfer money across borders without restrictions. At the time, I'm not sure anybody was expecting this current Bitcoin value. So I tend to agree with Gavin's views on this.

You seem to be a guy who bought 30,000 Bitcoins for $30 who wants to hoard coins until they reach an extreme value. An excellent way to hopefully achieve this is by supporting Blockstream which will bottleneck and throttle Bitcoin transactions between users with their 1 MB cap until only the bigshots with long pockets that can pay exorbitant fees will control the Blockchain.

Eventually this will ultimately force the adoption of blockstream by the rest of the Bitcoin population and will also allow members to file disputes or ask for refunds with their new reversible transaction platform. No doubt, this will encourage mainstream mass adoption as with PayPal and the value of Bitcoins will surge upwards to unprecedented levels, where you Sir, will start cashing out your Bitcoins and become the new, wealthy Elite.

It is a great idea, I must admit to it and I am all for it as I would probably benefit as well albeit on a much smaller scale. Smiley

In conclusion, all I'm saying is, Gavin's idea is probably to follow Satoshi's vision and will probably scale without problems very slowly. However, although Blockstream is NOT Satoshi's vision, in my opinion it has the ability to scale a lot more rapidly but first it MUST create an artificial 1 MB problem in order to achieve its vision.

Let's face facts...a 2 MB block would render Blockstream unnecessary for another couple of years!
93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Estranged Core Developer Gavin Andresen Finally Makes Sensible 2MB BIP Proposal! on: February 09, 2016, 06:47:51 AM
If you knew the real story behind Gavin's departure then you might understand why, albeit that's not really public. However, there are only a small amount of 'experts' who want 2 MB. You can exclude Garzik from this list though, he wants it for different reasons than Gavin (e.g. experience with HF's).

Please enlighten us Lauda!
Or are you baiting us with nonsense?
Everything you say, we can reverse. You said that "there are only a small amount of 'experts' who want 2 MB". Please show us the data to prove this. Somebody can easily say "there are only a small amount of 'experts' who don't want 2 MB". Who is right and who is wrong?

Since you are an expert on all matters concerning bitcoin and I obviously suffer from "personal incredulity" Shocked please explain to me exactly what is Confidential Transaction Codes. I would like to ask you to explain in great, in-depth detail why this data is not transparent or why it needs to be hidden and to prove that it and Segregated Witness is in fact not some Trojan Horse or "Bitcoin Core/Blockstream" control mechanism that we as yet do not recognize.

I just made it to page 3 of this thread and I have also been reading the thread:
Wondering out loud: Which should Chinese miners support - Core, Classic or another?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1343716

Even though the bitcoin atmosphere feels like there may be an impending collapse if certain issues aren't addressed, I really don't believe that gmaxwell would destroy his own investment in any way so perhaps you are a genuine person.

However, if Gavin is the "bad" guy in all this, why hasn't he given up already?
Is he that dogged in his determination?
Is he the Terminator?  Grin
He absolutely will not stop until Bitcoin is his! Grin
It is strange...if he honestly believes that Core will destroy Bitcoin, why not create his own currency, why the great need to wrestle control from Core?

Either way, I really don't care which way Bitcoin goes!
I don't believe that either party is attempting to destroy Bitcoin. I think they simply have different ideologies about the direction Bitcoin should follow.

Each party simply has their own theory that their chosen Bitcoin model will scale better, while the other party denounces them. Either way, no group can truly prove the other wrong, however one group must be victorious.

May the best team win!

We decided, it should be done like this, because we are the expert and you should listen to us and respect our hard work. This is not a way to reach consensus in a community full of paranoid conspiracists  Grin  It's exactly this kind of people most attracted by bitcoin because they trust nobody by default
The majority is wrong in the most cases. Should we let the majority decide these things? Bitcoin is not a democracy either.

Really...is that so?
Then what is it a Monarchy or Totalitarianism? Huh
96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Estranged Core Developer Gavin Andresen Finally Makes Sensible 2MB BIP Proposal! on: February 07, 2016, 08:47:33 AM
@figmentofmyass on Today at 08:08:55 AM

Please read this nice post that I quoted as I nor you have any idea who is truly speaking the truth and who is the charlatan.

Either one of them has an agenda or both or neither.
So who to follow? Huh

Nice summary, but maybe you noticed that Gavin constantly change his proposal based on community feed back, which proved to be a much more efficient way of gaining support. Blockstream give me a feeling like: We decided, it should be done like this, because we are the expert and you should listen to us and respect our hard work. This is not a way to reach consensus in a community full of paranoid conspiracists  Grin  It's exactly this kind of people most attracted by bitcoin because they trust nobody by default
97  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Estranged Core Developer Gavin Andresen Finally Makes Sensible 2MB BIP Proposal! on: February 07, 2016, 08:36:58 AM

I'm hoping we get to the point where the market realizes it's being toyed with here and repeated XT reloaded attempts are pretty meaningless. We're not seemingly there yet.

Have I basically summarized the last year? Anyone want to add any bullets?

Well thanks for that explanation and I couldn't agree with you more.
The problem is that I have unbiasedly read Mike, Gavin and now your explanation and everyone comes off like a freaking Saint.

My above posts were responses while reading the first 2 pages of this thread. So don't blame me if I jumped the gun...you don't expect me to read 19 pages before making a single comment, do you? Grin
98  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Estranged Core Developer Gavin Andresen Finally Makes Sensible 2MB BIP Proposal! on: February 07, 2016, 08:16:06 AM

what do you think it is? i see so much of this insinuation that he (and others) have these nefarious intentions, but it seems no one can spell out what they are, and how it's going to work. just how is Blockstream causing such massive conflicts of interest? where does the money come in? the VC numbers i've heard thrown around are tiny and meaningless. what exactly about Blockstream is it -- specifically -- that has made people turn so vociferously on Core devs that have tirelessly worked for years to make bitcoin what it is?

Amount of money lost if Gavin Andresen receives rejected proposals = -$
Amount of money lost if Gregory Maxwell receives rejected proposals = -$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Who sounds like they have more to lose?
Who sounds like the genuine person now?
99  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Estranged Core Developer Gavin Andresen Finally Makes Sensible 2MB BIP Proposal! on: February 07, 2016, 08:10:44 AM
Another power grab from a desperate developer that might just work, if he play the fiddle in the right manner. The trolls with the limited knowledge will jump onto this proposal without considering the possible consequences. We are driving around with a bus that are 50% to capacity and we are already calling for a double decker replacement.

The Core developers have put a lot of thought into SegWit and scaling for the future and loads of other advantages and we just want to take the first proposal, because we were told the 2 MB Block size increase would be the Nirvana.

If your bus is 50% full, you already know that pretty soon it's going to be full. The smart thing to do is prepare for future expansion.

Segwit?
When I joined bitcoin there was and still is no segwit, nor am I interested in reversible transactions with a possible and yet unknown risk of backdoor attacks.
