9711  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2220 GH/s] Slush's Bitcoin Mining Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz) on: August 09, 2011, 11:12:18 AM
I have 3 workers, each one running in a 5850 with phoenix/phatk and all pointing to api2.

I have just seen that two of them have the same amount of submitted shares after 48 hours (last reboot), but one of them have 3 times less than the other two in the same time. May be a problem connecting to the pool ?

BTW, what is an approximate "right" value for stale/invalid shares ? I'm having about 1.5%

Do you see any error messages in the 'bad' miner? Idling messages or higher stale ratio? If it is just lower miner performance, it might be some hardware issue. But hard to say without more info...

1.5% is in expected range.

Bad miners simply do not connect at all. Ever. Miner before that would get ZERO connection until i switched from api2 to api.. Pinging them works great though.

I cant connect!
api is only taking 2 connections and api2 is taking 10.
I need 2 more!
9714  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2220 GH/s] Slush's Bitcoin Mining Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz) on: August 06, 2011, 09:15:58 AM
api2.bitcoin.cz isn't letting all of my miners connect. it took me hours to figure out to try api.bitcoin.cz
you should really say why api2 exists, newer server vs second server for more connections

I had a good experience with bitcoinrigs.com
Comes ready to plug and play.
Took a very long time to ship but it wasn't his fault, there were just ZERO 6990 available.
If you get the lower cards, you should get it right away.

9719  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox going to charge for 2 step authentication! on: June 23, 2011, 12:02:43 PM
You need a google account to access the market and download the application,  and google authenticator is setup for gmail, but Google gives you all the source code, so you can have a parallel implementation independent from OpenID.
So you're saying that if I want to setup such a mechanism without relying on google accounts I need to modify the google authenticator for every single device I want to support ? (and then maintain the apps). Or am I missing something here ?

No, the only google thing required is the app from them which shouldnt be modified. I guess you kinda need an android and their market to get it, but you can also use blackberry.
9720  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox going to charge for 2 step authentication! on: June 23, 2011, 10:43:49 AM
a lot of people have android so at least google authenticator is free and does protect a lot of people.
yubikey can be a second choice.
google also works with blackberry.
i dont think anyone with an apple is bright enough to use bitcoin any way.
