I've been trying to get my dad to buy bitcoins since the price was $2. He just called me tonight and said he wants to buy some. Not a good sign.
Just make sure to teach him how the wallet works and have patience with him; last thing you want is for him to lose the coins. I'm doing it for him. He doesn't even know how to hold a mouse properly.

Good morning Bitcoinland.
Still going sideways I see... currently $14702USD/$18464CAD (Bitcoinaverage).
Old coins are worth $17556USD/$22042CAD each (Coinmarketcap).
Real mineable altcoins are generally down while non-mineable garbagecoins are generally up, led by the darling of the banks, Ripple. What a joke.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin is holding its own. Time to play wait and see.
Better Ripple than Bcash I suppose.

Sorry for posting way off topic this morning, I was in panic mode. I know you guys are always on here, and I appreciate your help. Looks like I actually got my coins back now. (mind blown) I got on this morning to send a transaction, I was watching it on the blockchain, 2 hours later. A separate transaction appeared sending my remaining coins to unknown address. Which turns out, is one of my own hidden addresses. I know change can be sent back to hidden addresses, my understanding is it's always in the same Transaction ID though. This transaction shows on the blockchain with it's own ID but doesn't show in my wallet.
That's the first time I've ever seen a backdoor virus detected on this pc and I definitely did not turn defender off myself. Maybe that's just a coincidence and it was leading to draw the wrong conclusions. I dunno. I did a format and reinstall of windows 3 days ago because windows was reporting corrupt system files when trying to update. I've only installed programs I consider trustworthy since, so I'm really surprised to find a backdoor got on here. Anyway, think I'm going to take a nap when my blood pressure returns to normal.
Wheeeew!!! Some celebration is in order, methinks. Pull out the good stuff! On a sour note, the second attempt to double spend that transaction I send a .1 btc fee. A little overkill, lmao. Of course that's the one that went through. Miners are making a killing today.

Sorry, your TXID doesn't exist when I use accelerator. You have to hit that accelerator right on the hour as only 100 tx are allowed per hour. Also it is very busy most of the time. You might have more luck getting the tx accelerated if you have more than one person attempting to get it through. You have one minute! He got a confirm. 45k lost.

Sorry, your TXID doesn't exist when I use accelerator. How were your funds stolen? Windows 10, I just did a fresh install a few days ago. I haven’t installed much other then btc, Ltd, ripple wallet. Not sure how I got a virus. It turned off windows defender and I only saw it detected a virus when I turned it back on. This is after I already noticed my coins moving on the blockchain. I don’t keep wallets on on my pc but I had them on for a min earlier today to move some coins.

Guys I know this is off topic but is there a way to stop a unconfirmed transaction. Someone just stole the coins from my wallet.
try to double spend your coins to a new address where you own the private key. put a very high fee in this tx and hopefully your tx will be confirmed before the tx of the theft. I am waiting for my core wallet to load, will be done in a few mins. Won’t it just have a balance of 0? If you could let me know how to do it I would appreciate it. without balance? maybe it would be possible if someone loaded your keys into his walet and did it from there. but i never tried catching slower transaction this way, so im not sure I did send out a transaction but it’s not showing on blockchain. The thief sent a real low transaction fee so it should be a while but doesn’t seem to be working.

You can either 1) Check all addresses 'by hand' in a block explorer or 2) Write a small script which automatically extracts all addresses of your files and checks the balance via an API The second option is more suitable for 'larger' amounts of wallets.. For an API you can check https://blockexplorer.com/api-ref or https://blockchain.info/de/q. Python is pretty straight forward when writing small scripts like this. Depending on which languages (if at all) you are able to code. Without coding knowledge i think 1) would be the (probably) fastest way. Can I find out what the addresses are without rescanning?

Is there a faster way to check old wallet files then re scanning each one? It's taking a hour just to check one wallet.
