3  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: STOP BUYING MINING HARDWARE on: October 02, 2014, 10:56:51 PM
Just stop it. People, this is madness. There nothing worth buying, and by buying a dream you allow these companies to give BTC a bad name.

If you arent paying the foundry to fabricate the wafers and putting chips on boards yourself, THERE IS NO PROFIT IN BITCOIN MINING.

Its just smoke and mirrors, please shut off that greedy lizard brain for one moment and think about how many companies sell items that are worth more than their purchase price outside of the bitcoin world just by plugging them into the wall/internet and hitting a button.

Thats right, zero. Its a great con, people want to believe in easy money, and theres a sucker born every minute.

BUMP this if you have lost BTC/fiat trying to mine, or have a preorder which wont ever ROI if you ever even receive it.

^this!!!

I've been trying to place an order, but I always get this error:

USA/EU/AUS/NZL/CAN/THA/VNMThis shipping method is currently unavailable. If you would like to ship using this shipping method, please contact us.
Others country please contact customer service after you place the order. They calculate weight by volume, so it's 38.5*35*27cm for single miner.This shipping method is currently unavailable. If you would like to ship using this shipping method, please contact us.

How can I solve this? Item is to be shipped to Portugal.

If ur getting in the scene then buy coins, spend some, hold some... that way ur helping the ecosystem... mining may not be worth it.
10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 20, 2014, 11:47:56 PM
People who say anything about not meeting ROI are ignorant. How can you comment on ROI when you have no idea what the cost of bitcoin will be next week, next month, etc.

mpark the proper way to factor ROI on any miner actually doesn't involve the conversion price of BTC to some other random currency.  If you pay XBTC for a miner and in it's life it generates >X (plus costs) then the miner profited.  If you buy a miner for 1BTC when it's at say $500 and it makes .5BTC but the coin doubles to $1k have you broken even?  If you believe you have you are allowing yourself to be blinded.

... is there anything that ROI in BTC?... dont see much of a future for home mining... just for manufacturers.

Of course, we need to be realistic here and make sure this will be worth our while.

It won't.

Im getting this error:

wget: not an http or ftp url: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/bwbk1wdy0yx1l46/asic-freq.393.75MHz

Is there a way to fix it?

Thnks

It looks like dropbox has stopped hosting non-secured http download.  I have to take out the instructions in the OP.  I may have to delete this thread.  I'm also going to take out the YouTube video.

If I find another site that will host http download I may re-upload the files.  To be honest with you; it's probably not worth the effort as by now most people already have OC'ed or about to turn off their S1's due to the diff being too high.

The last post from a bjornsitte leaves a "bad taste", also.  He blamed the OC script for burning out his PSU, never returned to let us know the script didn't damage his equipment.  The Thermalek 600 is not capable of providing adequate power as it's multi-rail 12V.  Just had to vent....

Aww damnn.....

19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Whats the cheapest 1th miner selling from stock now? on: June 15, 2014, 09:20:43 AM
What is the cheapest 1th miner selling from stock now? Failing that, what is the best $/gh available now from stock now that the S1 is discontinued that isn't an expensive machine ie. Spondoolies. I was going to purchase an S1 but was a little too late and ended up buying an Avalon 290gh module as I couldn't really see anything else comparable that was selling from stock. Its about to be posted and am hoping it lives up to its hype. Your input is much appreciated. Thanks.

If you dont mind me askin, how much did the avalon cost and where did you get it?
Looking for cheapish miners myself...
