41  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox Lost 'Barely 386 Bitcoins' Due to Cyber Attacks - Not 850,000 on: March 28, 2014, 03:20:04 PM
People still believe they will get their coins back? Oh well, hope dies last.
42  Economy / Economics / Re: VISA & MASTERCARD has cut Russian banks. Cardholders cannot access money. on: March 27, 2014, 10:30:40 AM
http://rt.com/business/visa-mastercard-russia-sanctions-285/

Many russian customers of "sanctioned" banks are trapped abroad and cannot  access their money.

This is really the precedent. Now we see the power of totalitarian financial authority of the world.

Hey Russia,  it's really time to start using bitcoin, don't you think so?

Is that related to Crimea? Well if it is just w8 for winter and cold weather to come and Russia cuts off gas, that would be hilarious Wink
43  Economy / Economics / Re: IRS is going to tax Bitcoin on: March 27, 2014, 10:26:26 AM
Hi,

Well, Bitcoin has gained a bit more status, the IRS considers it like trading in property.

CNN:  "The Internal Revenue Service has issued a formal notice saying it can tax Bitcoin transactions, calling it a property -- not a currency."
<http://money.cnn.com/2014/03/25/technology/innovation/irs-bitcoin/index.html?iid=HP_LN>

IRS Notice 2014-21:  <http://i.cdn.turner.com/money/2014/images/03/25/IRS_Notice_2014_21.pdf?iid=EL>

cya,

Well that could also lead to taxing other currency we have, ups properties. Like credits in games like EVO, SWTOR, gold in WoW and such, considering it can be sold, bought, traded for something else...

45  Economy / Speculation / Re: Value of Bitcoin will go down on: March 24, 2014, 04:59:41 PM
I have been reading such statements for few months now ... meanwhile, some people really became really reach ... therefore, go crying somewhere else ... I will take the chance ...

I heard that when price jumped to 260$ and then dropped... no it will never go high as that... then suddenly it was 1200$?!?

Trolls will be trolls, just don't feed them.
46  Economy / Economics / Re: The solution is obvious on: March 24, 2014, 04:57:01 PM
I don't think that is an issue. For common people that might be an issue, but for someone who is paying for goods/service he doesn't care if he is paying in a cryptocurrency that has value of 1$ for 1 or 650$ for 1. It's a trade system, like monetary market with currencies like Rubles, Dollars, Euros, Pounds...

48  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donate Now. Stop Russian aggression in Ukraine. on: March 17, 2014, 05:31:36 PM
When I read the title it sounded like " Your country needs you Now "

Also donations wont stop any attack on any country, so asking for a donation for that cause = not gonna happen...
49  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Stare into the sun on: March 17, 2014, 05:14:27 PM
When I was at the beach in 2012, a friend of mine once said what if looking into the sun gave you wisdom and insight to your life and the universe.

I didn't really understand how that would work or anything so I didn't really believe it but thought it would be cool.  I instinctively concluded that it would damage your eyes and vision.  Until one day, I decided to try it.  I stared into the sun as it was setting, what I then saw was beyond anything I expected.  I saw the sun in it's true form, not just a white hot light, but a singular source of a vast amount of energy.

Throughout my journeys in life I would periodically stare into the sun, focus dead in the center and engulf myself in it's energy.  It gave me energy when I was weak.  It gave me humbleness when I sought wisdom.  The times I gazed into the sun most were the times I was eating the least and felt the most peace.

I reached the conclusion that what you see or feel when you stare into the sun is a reflection of your self.  If you believe it will hurt your eyes, it will.  If you believe you are equally powerful as the sun, it will flow through you and empower the very core of your consciousness.

There are civilizations that harness the sun's energy instead of food and some that have done so since ancient times, including the Aztecs, Incas and Egyptians.  People have been medically examined to abstain from food for periods of several months or longer by channeling the sun's mighty power for energy.

Our society bases a recommended caloric intake of 2000 per day and has resulted in an increased prevalence of obesity and disease.  The truth is once you have grown into your full body, there really is little need to each such consumptuous amounts of food.  I have fasted for four days harnessing a few minutes of sun per day, without lethargy or hunger.

I implore you to try for yourself next time the sun sets.  Tell me, what do you see?

LOL Is this supposed to be like that guy in India who says he hasn't eaten in decades and feeds off the sun?

That also came to my mind Smiley But really, are there people that actually believe that?

To me best response to a question, Ok then explain to me how did God came to be? A: He is the one and only, he has always been there from the beginning .. ( or something like that )...

But yes, i don't mind if people are religious, not at all, it just makes the world one funny little "flat" place to live. Even more so that adults are willing to believe in a talking snake, talking burning bush, woman created from a rib, that they love God who is willing to kill because of a revenge, God who commits mass genocide.... but yet they ask their children " aren't you a bit old to believe in monsters ".

51  Economy / Economics / Re: Where do you see Bitcoin in 5 years? on: February 26, 2014, 04:13:30 PM
[In 5 years I see Bitcoin replacing Paypal as the currency of the Internet. The price will be over $100,000 and it will be built into all sorts of applications from chat, to file sharing, to the fabric of the web itself.

I hope you are kidding Smiley The price of $100,000 isn't going to happen considering that would be a jump by about 180x. Keeping in mind that some have few 100k in their wallets that would put them in FORBES TOP10 with more then $20 Billion

People said the same of $1000 not so long ago based on similar reasoning. Grin

The price atm is about 560$, granted it was up to 1200$ (?!?) but then again, people did knew the price will jump but not many have been willing to put money on that and risk it, and it only jumped due to hype about the BTC. Considering that BTC isn't that wildly accepted ( still ) price of >100,000$ is, well atm not realistic. I really don't believe that you will have billions of dollars in your wallet.

Price?  Applications?  Mainstream acceptance?

Not getting into price but I would hope to see 5% of Internet transactions to go thru btc

5% is a bit too much. I read something that over 200B dollars is spent each year by online purchasing, 5% of that is 10B dollars, in 5 years that number would be much much larger, so not i doubt it is going to happen anytime soon Sad

But even 1% would be more then good.
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Living off of strickly bitcoin for 1 year on: February 26, 2014, 03:42:27 PM
But that could only work in a countries that have accepted BTC on a larger scale. Well in a countries in which you can buy stuff using BTC, sadly there are not many countries like that.

I had iPhone 3s when it came out, at 1st i was happy, but then problems started, so after some time I throw it in the garbage ( it worked to some degree ) and bought Note one, never even had a slightest regret, now I have Note 3 and I'm even more happy Smiley
57  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Warning! Warning! Bitcoin Dangerous! Says CYRPUS BANKSTERS!!!! on: February 11, 2014, 02:39:46 PM
One more reason why you should never keep money in bank ( on bank account ). If someone stole my life savings I would steal his/her life. Simple as that...
58  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'm glad BTC is crashing on: February 07, 2014, 02:37:09 PM
For selfish reasons, I'm glad the price is crashing a little but it's always good to get people to "jump on the bandwagon", so to speak.

Anything that increases awareness can be seen as good and may even help in shooting the price back up.

What reasons are those? You wanting to buy more?  Grin. I'm sure it'll bounce back fairly quickly any way.

Exactly! And I'll be doing that sometime today...

But what if they keep going down? I've got a friend who has been waiting to buy back in as he sold his coins and has been stuck in dollars, but he never knows when to jump back in because he's scared they'll keep going down.

That is a risk you have to be willing to take. Even if he buys now for 730$ and the price drops to 600$ he will only lose money if he sells for that price. But if the price goes up and over what he payed for them, he will learn. Not everyone is good and has luck in gambling.
59  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'm glad BTC is crashing on: February 07, 2014, 02:26:07 PM

isnt the whole point of AIDS, to be spread? but do we want to do this, no as it is not good for society.
bitcoin is not just about spreading it around, its about giving people the informed choice and allowing merchants to choose what is best by informing them of all the information.

i feel there has been too much spreading bitcoin ignorantly, which leads the ill informed to get involved with something that they dont understand enough to utilise fully. hense they panic at the smallest piece of propaganda and run like hell.

You are comparing BTC to AIDS? How can you even compare those two things, while we are spreading things that are in now way associated to BTC lets spread love also, Ebola, Dengue fever....  If its not good why are you using it then, well considering you are a part of society?
Merchants? Sorry but what? Now it is practically impossible to make BTCs using miners ( you can but it will take way too long ), so you can mine LTC and other more profitable coins and its on a person who needs them to buy them for cash or exchange for other currency ( BTC for example ).

People who enter this "game" by reading on forums, or they are told by a friend to invest... don't have large amounts so they can't effect price like " big players " that have few millions in BTC, and people who have that much are not stupid to lose 20-30% by selling and running like scary little rabbits...

i did write a couple paragraphs of waffle but decided to keep it short.

for me bitcoins is like sex, alot of fun, involves more then one person to be fully useful and although governments like to talk about the negatives, the risks and like to wrap laws around different parts of the activity. it is something everyone should try. but i do find that informing other people of the activity should be done with explaining the risks, looking at the persons own experiences and advising them of the right route to take to gain the most out of the experience.
where as i see so many people just shout out to ignore the risks, and jump in unprotected. thinking that people somehow automatically know when to pull out at the right time without causing harm.

and as for you thinking this is just a game and that mining/buying bitcoins is the only way... you are part of the issue i speak of.. no grasp of the full picture or all of the information.

Sex is kinda like game, in which both sides win. Or one sides loses if its bad at it. So you clearly confirmed that BTC is also a game Smiley Not all countries and governments have the same saying about BTCs so you can't apply one rule to them, if USA says ( example: who ever uses BTCs as a way of paying for services he/she is risking  20 years prison ) then the price will drop, but if some God forbidden countries does that, there will be no impact. People who know the risk are the only key players here, people who can risk loosing money while having it enough to not be effected, people who can barely buy 5-10BTC are not the major part.

Yes I do think BTCs and everything around it should be looked as a kind of a game, where you have winner and a looser, you can either earn millions if you sell on time, or lose millions if you wait for the right price, that's a gamble some are willing to take. No one really knows the full picture of BTCs, and telling you do is a lie. So don't act so smart and all knowing.
60  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is GPU mining even worth an investment? on: February 07, 2014, 01:11:39 PM
don't!
it's not profitable anymore IMHO.
gpu-s are expensive, high power consumption and scrypt asic-s are behind corner.
you'll never gonna make ROI.
if you think you'll gonna resell those gpu-s think again. shit load of them will be for sale everywhere after people stop mining with them! if you think people will made up some XY coin with XY algo to keep gpu-s in mining business think again.
my advice, keep away from gpu mining.
wait for next generation of miners (5-7TH) since there is no peace of asic gear worth of buying right now and be fast on buying.

Not true at all.

For 1000$ lets see what can you get. in USA R270 costs about 200$ for one, one can make about 400-420Kh/s
You need some normal PSU ( some 600w ) thats some 100$ ( well a good one not the cheap one ) to run 3xR270. Then you motherboard, cpu and memory some 150$.
So 600$ for 3xR270, 250$ for PSU and other stuff. You need extenders, then frame, and USB flash ( for Linux ) that shouldnt be mroe then 70$
So for less then 1000$ you get 1,200Kh/s thats more then 12,000kh/s with 10,000$ investment.

With that much hashrate he can make about 100LTC per month, if he mines alternate currency probably some 120-130LTC when he sells and buys them.
LTC price atm is kinda low, "only" 18$/ltc, but scrypt asic miners wont be delivered until Q2 ( some say not even in mid Q3 ). And also lets face it even if they are delivered there wont be many of them out there, so he still has some 3-4 months of mining. In that time he can make 300-500LTC ( lets say 400LTC ). If he sells them for 20$ he wont make much ( granted he will lose ), but if he waits and sell when the time is come ( and some say price will go to 50+ when reward get lowered ) he can make a lot.
Then he will still have hardware, you can't expect to sell for 100% of what you payed but even if he sells for 70% ( and he will ) thats 7000$ back.

Or he can buy 500LTC for that price and gable on that. This way he stands to lose 30% ( if he buts gpus to mine ), and to cover expanses by selling them, while he makes them...
