(...)

Also, note the executebles begin with Hex transliteration of "BIOS FOOD".

These are all my findings for now. I was not able to connect to SSH with the private key to any of the users listed on the server, either

I was playing a bit with this and I am afraid it is abandoned. No one is writing about it, I'm also like you not convinced that this 1KWkDsv9VsdwsCWpJ2mu9R5AgUWgSPQHjf is THE address.
What I like is whole terminal stuff. What I don't like is that not all commands work as should. For example you can't pass arguments to functions, ls -a doesn't work. I'm a bit afraid that it is not some sort of shell but simple "paragraph" text input program, you add one space too much or use capital letter and it wont recognize.

So far - dead end. I'm trying to run service.bin somehow.

This one is too programmy to feel like I can do much of anything... Here's a tid bit that may be helpful though: on the CSS for the terminal there is a call for a font "VT232" or courier. Working in graphics and searching the appropriate repositories turns up no such font ever. Perhaps "VT232" is a useful code at some point.

In the case of the puzzle, the input bits consisted of the six-bit cipher derived from the ribbons on the key paired with each of the 6-bit chunks from the 608-bit string encoded in the flames. After the XOR operation was applied to the entire string, the new string was then divided into 4-bit chunks, each of which represented a single flame in the photo.

Each bit in the 4-bit chunks represented a characteristic of the flame and each characteristic group could be represented as a bit: short (0) or tall (1) / red (0) or yellow (1) border /narrow (0) or wide (1) / purple (0) or green (1) interior—in that order. So, for example, a 4-bit chunk with the value 0110 would be a short (0), yellow border (1), wide (1), purple interior (0) flame in the painting.

Turned out we had absolutely all elements figured out ages ago. Amazing how no one stumbled on correct reading order.

Excuse me, why is it in that exact order? the beginning is because the rabbit looks at that side, right?
It would be great for someone to do a step by step with images haha PS: The best puzzle.

Hindsight is 20/20 but before the solution was posted, I had a feeling I had found "the primer" which was hidden in some of the leaves. Here is what I found, I shared some of it on this forum previously. The ampersand seems to say "small orange flames & leaves". There is a left pointing, up pointing and down pointing leaf attached to the ampersand. The left hand side border has those same three leaves with the small orange flames touching them. The left pointing leaf at the top has 1 orange flame touching it, the up pointing leaf has 2 white/orange flames touching it and the third downpointing leaf has 3 orange flames touching it, 1,2,3... If you look at what they are pointing at, it makes more sense when seeing that those three leaves are paired with the other three leaves which go off the border of the chess board.
1) The first leaf pair is pointing at height. The one on the left is pointing to "tall" the one on the top row is pointing to "short" (if it was pointing to a colored flame this might have been ambiguous).
2) The second leaf pair is pointing to outer color. The one on the left is pointing to a tall yellow purple (fat) flame, and the one on the top row is pointing to a short orange purple (fat) flame. Since height is already taken care of, the only difference is outer color
3) The third leaf pair is pointing to inner thickness. The one on the left is pointing to a tall orange green skinny flame and the one on the right is *touching a tall orange green (fat) flame. The difference is the inner thickness.

I had used this ordering a ton (1 height 2 outer color 3 thickness) but much to my chagrin, I was only looking at three channels at a time forgetting that obviously the ordering of the first three channels implies the fourth. I probably wouldn't have caught the true solution though because I foolishly was not checking multiple interpretations of channel values (red = 1 yellow =0 OR red=0 yellow=1). But there's my thoughts on it. I'd love to know if this was indeed intentional as I believed.

@ytcoinartist : Thanks for the puzzle. I learned a lot in a very short time. It's like crack cocaine for the curious.

Congrats to the winner. I hope it was someone on this forum or at least our contributions helped towards the solution.

The red ribbons do have a WR in Morse code hidden in them.

.-- .-. = WR

If you take that to be a primer of sorts then it would seem the -'s and .'s on the stream that uncovered "seventeen" are reversed.
Thanks for the code!
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Legend of Satoshi Nakamato, FINAL STEP PUBLISHED.... 4.87 BTC GRAND PRIZE! on: January 31, 2018, 07:13:20 PM
.-..----..-.-......-....----.---..........-.-.-..-..----....----..--.-.-.-.-

Here are the non-pattern heights of the flames in morse code.

I found the word seventeen right here.  It might be coincidence.

.-..----..-.-......-....----.---...   .......-.-.-..-.   .----....----..--.-.-.-.-

... . ...- . -. - . . -. = seventeen

Are there any obvious rules you can apply to get the gaps?

Hey everyone Im back, long day at the Neurologist... and no sleep for a few days is rough. Regarding my last post, I realize I may have made an error referencing 3 images. When I started on the imgur site with the original picture I right clicked, view image, then view image details. This gave the two extra PNG files i referenced but wont reveal them in the imgur thread. I believe these are just generic backgrounds and part of the CSS of chrome and firefox respectively.

Regarding the 2D/3D path, I was able to get a super high res image roughly 5mb that allows me a massive zoom without getting distortion. I havent printed it yet but just inspecting It via my tiny laptop screen I can see the depth of the brush strokes, many of which are what form the numbers/letters that you cant see by viewing color alone. So the depth aspect gives us our proper plane X-Y-Z. If someone wants to PM me or email me and help me upload the raw image youll immediately see what Im talking about.

Another question since im about 30 pages into the previous threads... The creator specifically mentions deep learning and neural networks, we keep trying to visually pick out numbers and patterns but has anyone actually scanned this against an OCR or image processor? Im not by any means a programmer but im learning python right now today actually to write the code and get this done, unless someone already has... Im going to post and link a screen cap of exactly what Im talking about with depth of brush strokes.... and for anyone out there wondering how I got the 5mb image there really is no way I could remember because like I said, medications and no sleep for 2 days make things interesting. I do know that the Image was produced by https://crusescanner.com as they are listed in the meta data as creators. Reading their website their equipment specifically makes high res scans of 2D and 3D projects.

The high resolution scans are beautiful, however the puzzle was published in a "solvable" state with a lower resolution jpg. I think it's safe to say the solution does not include analyzing the details of the high resolution image.

Hello everyone! I am just becoming aware of this thread and had actually been studying this all week! I think its amazing that within the last month or so the link with the Pheonix and the Turtle came to light as it was one of the first links I made. I did have a question for everyone because its going to take me quite some time to read through the entire group chain....

1. Is everyone aware there are 3 files included in this image?
2. No one references this image in a 3D perspective.... only 2D. Has anyone beside me started down this route? If so what did you find?

Thank you and good luck everyone!!!!

I just gave it a go... It's far too noisy for a conversion to height map to reveal anything interesting. There were some things that "popped out" but it was due to looking through anaglyphic  (red/cyan) glasses which is akin to messing with color filters. Under a red filter, the green inner flames are black, and in general the red flames look to be a bit further away background. I never noticed the 1A in the "Rabbit ear" before, that could be something. It looks like a clean serif capital A and one of the other tail feathers gives it a "1A appearance" which are located next to that 4 flame series.

I agree with the assessment that it is a Queen. But it doesn't seem to make much difference unless it does. The only "good" suggestion for what the anomalous feature is under the melting queen is "rabbit tail ". Yari-Shogi has a 7x9 board but Tori Shogi has a 7x7 board and uses the phoenix and other birds as pieces. If it were a QR code somehow, one would have to make it a square first which would involve cutting two columns (non rotated view) off the board. If you cut the right most two off, you frame the "white rabbit" nicely.

Very nice and thorough synopsis of leads crax0r! I'll be coming back to that post often.

[By the way, I can't open your gitorious link, I think you put "680cfbb909" as the url, can you edit it please? Thanks!

I fixed the link in the original post. Here it is: https://gitorious.org/robmyers/blockchain-aesthetics/

It's not loading for me at the time of this post however...

You can also see an early commit on github with turtle graphics is from dec 2014: https://github.com/robmyers/blockchain-aesthetics/commit/33229b78023598f55a50a79f8e971f995464bd3d

There are plenty of crypto-coding ideas to test here...

https://gitlab.com/users/robmyers/projects

Some of them could be used as inspiration on the current puzzle. (Or be directly applied to it). Good coding skills needed Smiley

EDIT: I just saw that he is a gitlab member since April 15, 2015, and the puzzle was published on April 3, so maybe there isn't so much useful code that I previously thought.

Nice work! This code was also posted on gitorious December 2014, predating the puzzle... anyway, thanks to you and 680cfbb909 for following up on an old lead. As I learn more about the coding side of things, I would want any null result I got to be double checked by someone with more experience anyway.

Off flame ramblings follow:

It's time well spent going back through this thread a couple times (long though it may be) and seeing for example that:

1) The Phoenix and the Turtle poem was referenced in post #338 on April 5th, 2015

Based on what I have read regarding previous challenges, ytcoin_artist doesn't give hints but does let people know if they are on the right track and confirmed found clues to previous ARG challenges. The fact that she tweeted a section of the poem might be to say "you found this clue but didn't think it was the next step, look again" I couldn't find her giving any hints or clues aside from this one...

2) The skinny inner flame data channel was detailed in post #404 possibly before that as well, then re-discovered recently by smracer. This game has gone on so long that people have forgotten what was tried, abandoned, rediscovered etc.

BitcoinArbiter in post #400 posted a link to some of Rob Myers work https://robmyers.org/blockchain-aesthetics/

It would seem that coin_artist and Rob Myers are tight collaborators

His blockchain-aesthetics code was done around the time this painting was created

some of the code has instructions to "draw" blockchain transactions using "turtle graphics"

I am not a programmer, perhaps someone with better skills can use the code here: https://github.com/robmyers/blockchain-aesthetics/

and make the turtle graphics code examine and draw the transactions done on the 1FLAME address like this one?

Just delving back into the crazy...

@chubbychew, I have updated my code (posted below) so that it can xor bitstrings. That said, I did not find your string "AEIEMHAZYGPBBLMHJCSIQXADYMOZ "

kn0w0n3: Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate the effort to get me up to speed on the coding. I figured out my errors eventually(bacon with 6bits vs 5bits). We were using different inputs and methods though. I was suggesting construction like this:

first 12 flames (space delimited flames) = 0yp 1yg 1yg 0og 1yp 1op 0yg 1op 1yg 0yg 1op 0yg

and taking one bit per flame on a rotation of height (1) outside color (y) and inside color (o)

first 12 flames after operation = 0 y g 0 y p 0 o g 0 o g       which gives 011010001001 according to my scheme

xor of that is of course '000000010011'

My point was that if you followed this pattern around the path you'd always get 0xxxxx0xxxxx0xxxxx0xxxxx (before xoring) which would suggest that constant 0 in front of every 6 bits could be a delimiter. So I was breaking into 6s then throwing out the leading zero and debaconing on the remaining 5 bits.

Code:
0yg0yp0og0og0op0op0yg0op0yp1
yp0yp1op0yg0og0yp1op0yg0
og0yp1og0yg0op0yg1yg0op1og0og1op0
yg1og0og0op0y
p0op0og0
op0yp0yp0og1og0y
g0yp0yp1og0y
g0og0yg1og0op0yg0y

Bacon on the 6s throwaway the leading zero
Doing that now I get->  JAYWUZUZVY.....
and after xoring -> AT_CMODODPCF.....

Bacon on the 5s keeping the zero
Doing this I now get -> NCIBQWK....
after xoring -> AE_IEMHAZY...

@ChubbyChew, After I get off work tonight I'll make it so that my code xor's bitstrings and I'll verify your result.., Although, I'm not sure why you want to verify that?

I am not a programmer and only learn what I need to do quick little jobs. I'm using python and if that result is not correct then I will need to redo all my previous experiments. I'm not used to concatenating binary values and operating on elements of strings. I was hacking up ontherealMF code I didn't fully understand. I appreciate the help.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Legend of Satoshi Nakamato, FINAL STEP PUBLISHED.... 4.87 BTC GRAND PRIZE! on: January 16, 2018, 10:38:09 PM
Man, I need to check my code... So the encouraging news is that this is a somewhat new approach. Yay. Here's the bacon I get after the xor-ing.

AEIEMHAZYGPBBLMHJCSIQXADYMOZ can anyone verify this result? I've made many code errors and even checking by hand is hard with this many steps.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Legend of Satoshi Nakamato, FINAL STEP PUBLISHED.... 4.87 BTC GRAND PRIZE! on: January 16, 2018, 10:23:27 PM
I got ahead of myself and the xor only ab thing is a simple code error on my part...
