1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Kraken withdrawal problems on: January 24, 2014, 11:41:46 PM
So, for anyone interested, I've finally received my money from Kraken a full nine weeks after requesting the withdrawal. I also finally got an informative response to my ticket. Apparently my transaction was part of a bad batch of transactions from December that didn't go through due a miscommunication between Kraken and their European bank. Nevertheless, I think I'm done with Kraken until they can improve their customer service to accommodate their large user base. The poor communication was the worst thing really; being left in the dark and receiving canned replies to your tickets is horrible.

Thanks for the information and reassurance. I'll try to calm down but this has been a serious source of stress in my life for a long time now and I'm sure you'll understand that I'm at the end of my tether. (I need the substantial sum of money).

If you read the announcement thread, you'll notice that the majority of deposit/withdraw problems were due to banks or users entering incorrect or incomplete information.

The thing is, I'm willing to accept as a possibility that I may have entered incorrect/incomplete information. (I don't think this is the case because I triple checked when entering it). If this is so, then why haven't they just asked to check the information I entered against the correct information? From a problem solving point of view, this should be their first port of call, but they haven't even asked to do this.

In a way it's kind of funny because I was always more worried about losing money through bitcoin market fluctuations and making poor buy/sell decisions. I never really worried about the actual exchange itself stealing my money, especially because this exchange was seemingly recommended/endorsed by blockchain.info.

I am still waiting on a withdrawal I requested on December 3rd. I've received a response to my ticket saying that the withdrawal must have become stuck in transit and that they would chase it up at there end. I don't even know what this means. I suspect the responses I've received are just token responses to placate me until it has been so long that they money can't be traced.  Realistically, I don't think I will see the money ever again and I have no idea what to do about it. So, yes, Kraken are either incompetent or a bunch of criminals; avoid them at all cost.

Just one that doesn't steal your money. I have no idea to be honest.

For anyone interested in an update, it's now been almost 4 weeks since Kraken said they would look into my problem. At this point I'm close to writing off the money as a loss as I have absolutely no idea what to do. It's a substantial sum of money which I really really need. In my opinion, don't use Kraken even if your life depends on it...

Yes, I too am having problems withdrawing from Kraken. I tried withdrawing euros on December 3rd and have still yet to see the money reach my bank account. This is upsetting because I needed that money for Christmas and I assumed from their FAQ that the process would only take 4-5 days. I opened a ticket which went unanswered until I contacted an individual on this site who seemingly works at the company (thank you). I then got a reply saying that the problem would be resolved but it may take an additional 4 weeks. I would steer well clear of Kraken until these problems are resolved.

Upon transaction, the coins showed in my wallet almost immediately, and then 6 confirmations on the blockchain took about an hour. I guess that's about normal? I've since learnt important lessons about transaction fees i.e. pay them; someone sent me coins but forgot to include transaction fees and the same number of confirmations took about 8 hours.

Hi,

I'm quite new to bitcoin but am now absolutely obsessed with it. My first time buying bitcoin involved meeting a stranger in a pub and giving him big wad of cash, which probably sounds quite stupid. He initiated a transaction from his smart phone to a wallet that I had set up previously. Over the next hour we observed the confirmations on blockchain and he kindly explained some points of confusion that I'd been having about bitcoin. I'm sure there are safer ways of buying bitcoins, but I don't regret this experience in the least. He was a massive enthusiast and it was great hearing about the social meetup aspect of bitcoin.

Anyway, cool story bro, I'm sure. I'm here to learn more about bitcoins and hopefully sell a few possessions.

Thanks and hello.
