Hello guys, I have a problem
My wallet had 2 incoming transactions (received not minted) totaling 5000 phs. Now I was stupid enough to not backup my wallet and suddenly the deamon gives 'error reading wallet', maybe due to repeated power outs. I erased the blockchain and restarted deamon to start over, it worked until some height then gave the same error. pywallet gives me a bad tx in wallet.
So what I did is erase blockchain, start deamon and 'listreceivedbyaddress', which gave me only on address that received 5000.
I dumped that private key, moved away the wallet and started a fresh installation. It worked great, but of course with 0 balance.
Now after sync, I imported that key into new wallet, wondering if I would get my 5000 only, or also my minted pos on these (they were about 3 months old, before problem they had created some 500+ pos.
I was prepared of course to loose those 500 stones.

The weird thing is that after importing the key, my balance was around 4500  Huh and right away they started to create some small pos blocks.

How can this be?

Thanks

Power loss is very bad for any type of app, especially if it corrupts a DB.  I know someone who went to send a large some of coins from p2pool mining and of course it lagged the client a bit so he would just ctrl-alt-delete or turn the pc off.. ya don't do that. Maybe get a UPS or rent a cheap VPS that never losses power if that's a constant issue.

The stake will generate to the same address as the input, So not sure why you would lose it (moving keys from a dead wallet would bring them back, unless they were orphans) Just check your address(s) (inputs) in explorer to see if they match the wallet, they should, but post back if you see things on explorer and not in your wallet (stakes).

backup often

Unfortunately, where I live I have to cope with power loss regularly, once a day is a usual rate Sad. You'd be surprised to know that I live in the capital, a couple of miles from the presidential palace of Egypt.
Linux has done me good, it handles such situation much better than the alternatives Smiley, but I think I do need some gigantic hand made UPS.
Anyway, I followed your advice and checked the explorer and nailed it. I have my balance back Cheesy.
The problem was that I made one send operation of 10 stones, for testing when cryptsy was on fork. This transaction took a pos block of 1012.xx, sent 10, and returned the 1002.x to some new address. I am not sure why, maybe something related to coin day calculation.
I loaded my old wallet, dumped this new key and imported into new wallet. Everything is good.
I backed up this new wallet of course Wink

Many thanks Palmdetroit.

And Egypt?

Would aim to have as many as possible, may need some translators, will see what we are missing after next update.

Smiley
I meant to ask if you know how many users there, it's at least 1 (me).
Anyway, I can translate it to Arabic if you want. Although crypto is yet to penetrate the Arabic world.

So much coins so noone noticed that COL disappeared without any words from cryptsy.

I noticed and I pretty mad about it. COL was removed in the middle of my sell order Sad , and of course just before coins went hyper.
However I didn't post tickets, or ask here, or complain or whatever. This is obviously everyday's routine in cryptsy. Just waiting to see if it will return or that I'll have to forget about those 70 ltc.
And even IF it returns, who will be interested to buy into my order then? It's a loss/loss/loss situation  Angry

But hey, cheers, we have cats and fireflies now! How can you complain?

Yeah a,, the Asian market has woken up now to dump the Coin.but I am not perturbed..I was trying to sell just 500 sexcoins al day on cryptsy but it was playing up..because I couldn't buy and sell and do trades as i wanted I am down 0.2 btc thanks to the site not functioning properly..I hope they put sexcoin on coinse as well so we have choice..If one site isn't functioning properly we could trade on another..Or is there another place that trades sexcoin? I would never sell a coin undervalued and selling now would be silly..I think sexcoin has a lot of stuffing in it.. Smiley

the asian market has been up for awhile, call it the european market started the dump. But don't worry, this is normal when you take 10000% run. I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier. The dump started when a stupid guy placed a 100k offer at .005. Funny, he's still there, maybe he has now learned that trying to sell big blocks creates a selloff

It's not the 100k offer that did it, it was the end of the rise. Actually the chart shows a classic elliott wave up with 5 legs. There were a lot of 100k+ sells earlier and did no harm.
On another note, I wouldn't get caught up trying to achieve optimum trading, buying at the low and selling a the very tip, it's impossible. For my experience this 2 days, I started with 190k (bought around 0.00012). I sold 120k of them at avg price of 0.00025. Now this is a nice 100% profit, but if I looked at it from the point that it multiplied 30 folds later, I would have had a heart attack Smiley.
I sold my last 70k at 0.006 (on the rise not the decline), overall I went up from around 2 to 15btc. Had I kept those 120k, I would have much more now, should I regret the selling?
I don't, I see it that I made some profit from the 120k, and more profit from the 70k.

The downside is, I returned to smoking after 6 months of quitting Cheesy

OK.. I'm paying that out right now... And sorry guys, things are getting hectic.. The new client just passed test six, so we are looking good. An angel is curious about SXC. I can get the block explorer up, but Lava isn't papering over the desync issue by refusing litecoin connections, he's changeing the magic number with a hardfork.. ABE won't like that, but it should be theoritically possible to manually change abe to accept the block chain after the fork. I think wedge is looking at playing with an android app. We've got people promoting us in various places outside of the community and I want to support them.. Fendle is MIA, but he's developing a real world business, so he's probably time poor too..

The long of the short of it is, I'm putting the brakes on the Zombie bonus for now, .. as usual, if the pool stutters we'll look after our miners. Once things calm down It'll probably rise from the grave yet again..

Take all the time you need, you guys are great doing your magic slow but steady.
I am looking forward to the day when 10SXC=$1. Not as a spike, as a steady price. And I am confident this day is not far away.
I am relatively new to the altcoins, got a modest 180KH card, pointed it at lavapit and kept it there. My tiny holdings were split between SXC and XPM, both have done me quite well.
I don't understand why many people fail to see the potential of SXC, for me it was like screaming in my face "Mine me, Buy me, Accumulate and Hold and you won't regret it". Smiley

And now, ladies and gentlemen, Tuesday, December 10th, 13:00 GMT, SXC reached $0.1 as predicted.

He did buy Smiley. He cancelled and bought directly into the sells.
It's like 10M coins (25% of total coins) changed hands in the last 24 hours.

edit:
It's ironic to browse the merchant sites and find a dvd sold for $5000, or a dildo for $1500.

And for linux users?
No need for it, or no support?

Thanks

Going to be working on clients for everybody, along with the HP variant.  If you have this problem can you pm me more details?

I don't have a problem, but my wallet is fairly new. That's why I was asking if the problem is Win specific, or a linux / generic version will be made Smiley

OK, thumbs up everyone.
@lava:
I am a professional cpp/java dev (and a pretty good one in my opinion  Cool ), but unfortunately I don't have much time. I haven't study the codebase yet, but if you have tasks that are self contained to a degree, I am willing to help.
I do Android/iOS too.
On a side note, I strongly oppose both changing the halving milestone, and specially the in-client-cam-chat.
I really prefer you (and other devs) spend you time in improving the client itself, than implementing something unrelated, specially when there are good free alternatives that's got the resources and focus to make it better.
Of course what you do with your time is entirely your business, it's just my opinion as a user.

@LittleDigger:
Where is my 69 coins? I need them to top up my 1/4 million holdings Smiley

I opened a support ticket today and this is the response I received from cryptsy..

"We are currently working on the PHs wallet. We appear to have gotten on a forked blockchain and  have not had much luck getting back. We did find a working block explorer and hope to have it resolved today

Happy trading!"

Looks like I am glad to have dumped this crap coin while I could..

To find yourself in a forked chain is not so much your fault Smiley
I blame them for slow response though, and for not checking regularly.

coinex.pw and cryptsy are on 2 different chains.. I just tried to send 3k PHS to coinex.pw from cryptsy
TxID - 45285a3f8fa8a803e5b0e0a595150e7266574a3eb47eddfc9517c322c9f6a0d5  and nothing is showing up and its been over 30 minutes.. Fuck this coin im dumping all my holdings.

Edit:
It appears that cryptsy is on the wrong chain. Just sent some PHS from my wallet to both coinex and cryptsy and they show up at coinex but not cryptsy. DONE with this shit coin... Who wants some cheap PHS?

I do Smiley
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin Release - First Scientific Computing Cryptocurrency on: October 29, 2013, 11:15:26 PM
@porcupine87

We can make some calculations Smiley
let's see, I don't know the hash size, but say it is 256 bits, i.e. ~10^25 possible numbers.
You need aprox. 100 bytes to store a prime origin, so if you have 100TB of space, you can store up to 10^12 chains, disregarding how many years you need to find them, we will assume you already have them stored for now.

Now the chance that you have a good chain for a particular block(hash) is 10^12/10^25 = 10^-13
That's it, you will hit a suitable one every 10 trillion blocks!

Now on the time needed to calculate those chains, well if you somehow manage to get 1 million chains/day, you will need 1 million days, ~3000 years.

So, well... Smiley
