161  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: just installed a clean Linux, need help (1 TBC bounty ) on: June 16, 2011, 04:34:11 PM
If it is the same problem please check if this file exists:

/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6

Just do a
Code:
ls /usr/lib/libst*
and paste the results here.

That ls.

Also do
Code:
cat ~/.bashrc

and paste the results.

Please do the ls so we can see if there is any version available.

Distro = distribution Cheesy

You probably missd the first step:

Code:
sudo apt-get install python-setuptools python-numpy subversion g++ libboost-all-dev libqtgui4 openntpd

As one of the dependencies of g++ is libstdc++ 6, so make sure you have all those packages installed.
165  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Win7 Enterprise x64 ..mining tools? 2.5 BTC BOUNTY! on: June 16, 2011, 02:54:35 PM
I have seen somewhere a register trick to avoid them but people reported it wasn't working.
Anyway first try without it, don't expect to work but could be if not you can always plug the card to a monitor, start a miner on that card and change the monitor, as long as you keep everything running you don't need to have a monitor connected real or faked.

What's the linux distro you are using?

Indeed you only need 1 resistor to create a dummy plug:

http://blog.zorinaq.com/?e=11

Pretty much everything else is covered on previous posts:
 + Catalysts 11.6 including SDK 2.4 ( http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx#2 )
 + Restart
 + Install/Configure your miner
 + Activate cards (dummy + extended desktop). ( http://blog.zorinaq.com/?e=11 )
 + OC as needed (MSI Afterburner: http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm )
 + Run and check everything is ok.

+1 to Threshold bought some cards from him and arrived even better than expected

Are these any good:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150523&cm_re=6950-_-14-150-523-_-Product

I wasn't sure if the 1GB model could be unlocked. Does 1GB vs 2GB for mining matter?

Almost sure that model can not be unlocked, actually most of the current models can not be unlocked, look for models that are a clon of the reference design and/or with an AMD logo on the PCI connector.

I was mining with deepbit for the entire time, maybe laggy sometimes but I have 66ms ping right now.

And about the OC, I tried diferent config that caused visual corruption or even instant freeze this time the app crashed but everything remained working and I think I was able to start the miner again, anyway I will try improve that.

And maybe we don't need nonce stealing but ask ahead when they are running low, that will have no impact on slow miners and should help to avoid short stops, the bigger problem comes when every thread stops at the same time, usually during the first minutes after a connection or block change, not a big deal but it can be an improvement.

I got yesterday a MSI 6950 rev.1 I was difficult to find a unlockable 6950 but still there are some models out there.
So as it was going to be my main miner for some time (still have a 5770 but I can have both on my computer due to the PSU) I made a real table of doom with every vector option and most of the worksizes for the best -vs most of the measures are no more than 5 minutes enough to see the possible outcome with more fine tunning.
I remeasured the best during the whole process, stock -> unlock shaders -> be aggresive -> OC

I have been able to reach 408Mhs being more aggresive on the OC and -f but after 2 hours miner crashed Sad

Also with this card I can not see flash videos (I hade no problems with 5770 and SDK 2.1) becouse the miner also crashes.

From the data I am unable to reach to any conclussions as with some config OC or unlicking doesn't improve a bit, -v 34 is a good number, -v 37 just gives 22% of HW errors... Anyway my best setup is -v 3 -w 192 similar to -v2 -w 64 but a hell more stable

There is a significative drop in MHs when the nonces are exhausted, it seems a thread just sits waiting while we must have some unused nonces from other threads, and also the spureus errors but ina lesser extent.

Not sure if this info will be valuable for someone else but here it is for reference.

After a whole night mining with -dd I have 80 failed attemps out of 1634 not sure if all of them are due "hardware problems" but for sure most are. I am mining on a 5770 at 915GPU 1200 Mem (a bit oced) the good point is that even running with -dd I haven't seen a MHash drop on average (194MHs using -f 60)
Deepbit is more or less accurate (170-190Mhs) but I have 2% of lifetime stales (41K shares) I don't know why but I had some problems with windows suspending the screen and losing mining capacity (going back to 70-100Mhs) and increasing the stale ratio, I think I fixed that and haven't seen the problem for some time but the stats are already there.

I am using "-w 128 -v 2  -f 60 -dd" but for sure I am not losing 1/3 of the shares but what bothers me as is I have a 5% of failed attempts misscalculated then 5% of the total hashes should be also misscalculated including some attempts that arent being recognized as such so effectively I have 185MHs rate.  If this is due to the oc probably it is better to just reset to normal speeds and get 100% efficiency on 180MHs

For sure the oldies are the oldies, pm the list with prices I will but some of them.
174  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Help needed about trading funds in paypal or paysafecards to BTC. on: June 01, 2011, 08:16:27 AM
There is no real trading market using paypal not sure about paysafe card.
This is because Paypal doesn't allow in their terms curency trading operations and they have considered BTC as an eCurrency also you can have problems with chargebacks so that's why there is no easy way to buy BTC using paypal.
you can always start a thread here as some people is willing to accept paypal but usually with larger fees or sending as a gift (so you can not chargeback) there is also a peer to peer marketplace https://bitmarket.eu/ that allows you to find sellers or buyers, they scrow the BTC transaction but you have to manage the usual currency transaction (you can pay using local wire, international wire or paypal) and the prices are usually higher than MtgOx that is currently the referency price.

I hope this has helped you but as I said there is no stablished trader using paypal.

I really hope there is a miscalculation there a 400% increase is too much.
