684  Economy / Gambling / Re: PrimeDice.com Faucet Official Thread - Currently 0.00003BTC/Min! on: November 10, 2013, 10:22:14 PM
I was experimenting with different strategies for 2 days, always lost.
Then yesterday, I did some calculations, made my mind and I started with .00002BTC faucet money.
Went all the way to .002BTC  Grin
Did not cash out anything, got greedy in order to get more and increased bets using martingale and lost all and came to 0  lol

Then today I was in luck and .00001BTC from faucet got 99x to .001BTC. I was even recording it with a screen recorder at that time but cause of some error it did not save. Started betting again got back to 0 !!

Lesson learnt - Greed makes you loose in gambling.

yes !~ i know how to win if you have time to "grind" feel free to PM me your email!  Wink *blessed!

I don't understand the psychology of some people...they panic sell even when there is not even 1 single bad new in press. I understanded the panic sell after ddos attacks or end of silk road, here it is just speculation in its pureness, right?..Bitcoin must change these pure speculators to long time believers in cryptocurrency and they have to learn actually use the bitcoin as a currency, not just as get rich quick scheme. Until than....we are not even close to going mainstream.

However, i noticed btcchina was repeatedly down today...do you think it could have some effect on the price drop?

What makes you think it's a panic ?

You don't think some people sold in panic?...i don't think it was only people cashing out to take profits...i think many people are still in some level expecting big crashes and are scared by every 1% movement...especially now when we were reaching new ath almost every day, sooner or later we will come to a point (in some way, i believe it happened today, just in small version) where people will be more and more nervous as the price of btc (their profit) will become too siginificant to lose this kind of profit...and if you add some #1 exchange was down, many people must think the april is here again. Or do you have different opinion on the 20% drop?

No this is someone capitulating about 100K coins.

More like someone tricking a whole bunch of sheeple to dump 100K coins. The history of bitcoin has been thus that regardless of the ATH we always return to it. So someone's getting cheap coins right now.

mm' morning rabbit which way do you predict BTC will move today?  Grin tia!

How much did TF deposit to JD? That could be money from Coinlenders or BTCinvest.

The amount varied over time, but was hundreds of BTC.  I used it as collateral when accepting inputs.io deposits.  I only credited inputs.io deposits to JD up to the amount TF had on deposit at any time.  I regularly withdrew from the JD inputs account to a 'real' wallet.

The timeline as I understand it went something like this:

* late October, the inputs server was compromised, the database was stolen, and 4000 BTC was taken from the hot wallet
* inputs.io carried on operating as normal, still accepting new deposits, with 4000 BTC missing from its wallet
* for a couple of days after the theft, I was unable to withdraw from inputs.io to the blockchain.  the "hot pocket" was empty.  I emailed several times, and eventually after about 48h was able to withdraw.  At no point was I told that the server had been hacked
* a couple of weeks later the hacker used stolen API keys to steal ~100 BTC from user accounts, including ~42 BTC from the JD account
* an hour after that theft I woke up, saw the withdrawal, moved all the coins I had access to into cold storage as a precaution, stopped accepting inputs.io as a deposit method
* later that day TF came to the JD chat and asked for his deposit (less the 42 BTC he owed JD) back.
* I debited his account the ~42 BTC, then unblocked his account from withdrawing.  He withdrew the rest of the balance
* I asked him if he would be redepositing so that we could start accepting inputs deposits again.  He said he definitely would.
* a day or so later the inputs front page was edited to say that 4100 BTC had been stolen.

The moral of the story seems to be "don't trust third parties with your Bitcoins".  A lesson that lots of investors seem to be learning.  Investment in JD is down ~5k to around 57k BTC since the inputs hack became public.  I don't know whether this is mostly due to people cashing out BTC due to the recent price rises, or people wanting the security of holding their own coins.  I guess it's some of each.

i see! hmmm  Roll Eyes

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

What's happening to the TradeFortress deposit? Are you returning it to him, giving it to charity, keeping it on the site, attempting to give it to inputs.io users...?

Doog returned the deposit, minus the amount that went missing from the (the smaller) inputs hack. This was before the missing 4100 was publicly known.

he maybe should not have done that before he figured out where it really went?  Cool
689  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [ Ice-Dice.com ] Free 0.005BTC BitcoinTalk Exclusive Automated Giveaway! on: November 10, 2013, 05:06:27 PM
You need a minimum of 1.2 BTC wagered. In other words: it's impossible to actually withdraw the money.

It's difficult if you don't deposit anything, but it is possible as many have done so. It will be very easy if you make a small deposit and bet bigger.

so you fixed the BUG i did that exact same thing before and you said I was trying to cheat your site!wtf >>LOL  Roll Eyes

I think the faucet reduced again because now the value of BTC is raising seriously high. I strongly hope the faucet never will go under 1000 satoshi or 40% of players will start leaving, that's my opinion.

BitStamp worked well during this flash crash. It's just not acceptable exchange to bug during these movements.

Well Gox had up to 20 minutes of lag during this crash, or at least that said the API. I think it is not acceptable after the mess we had back in April.. They've had A LOT of time to fix their systems...

At this point, instead of acceptable or not, I wonder about INTENTIONAL or not.

697  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ARG] Argentum || Secure. Rare. Fast. || MANDATORY UPDATE on: November 09, 2013, 08:52:15 PM

Definition: Argentum is the Latin name for the element silver. Silver is a chemical element with the chemical symbol Ag (Greek: άργυρος árguros, Latin: argentum, both from the Indo-European root *arg- for "grey" or "shining") and atomic number 47.

It is the perfect name to represent this currency and the potential it has with a dedicated development team. Argentum is fast, unique, and secure. We have learned from many of the past crypto-currencies and created one that can rival any. Argentum brings innovation and experimentation by combining interesting aspects of other crypto-currencies and adding unique features.

Argentum is designed to gain value over time and to be a rare commodity that is easily and quickly transferable. The innovation doesn't end there, Argentum is the first crypto-currency to increase transaction processing capabilities over those of bitcoin. With the Bank of Argentum, the ARG/DGC exchange, and other commodity related services on the way, there is a bright future for this coin.

Argentum is secure, rare, and unique. The combination of all its characteristics provide a:
1. Longterm stable investment
2. Growth potential based on services
3. Diversification into less risky crypto-currency
4. Secure quasi-instantaneous transaction processing

Specifications

General
-Scrypt
-Optimized client: The Argentum client is tightly coupled with the blockchain. You won't see it randomly hop on another as some others do.
-Achieved close to 0% orphans for extended periods of time during testing in perfect conditions (currently achieving close to the same on pools). There may still be orphans depending on the conditions but they should be minimized as much as possible.

Blocks
-Maximum block size increased to 10mb
-Maximum signature operations per block maximum increased to 100k
-32 Second block time

The first two features are on the bitcoin hardfork wishlist. We wanted to create the first cryptographic currency with almost unlimited scalability. The signature operations per block were not increased as much as block size because it is unnecessary and theoretically unreachable as is. These capacity increases do not affect performance and only serve as a guarantee of the network's future capacity. The actual size of blocks and transactions is the minimum amount needed to accomplish the task.

Difficulty
Re-targets every 250 blocks: 250 blocks until re-target insures accurate difficulty adjustments while almost eliminating the risk of difficulty stranding.

Currency Creation
64 million total ARG: Constant creation is the best way to balance between miner incentives, rarity, and fairness.

Fair launch:
We opted for a fair launch to let everyone start mining at the same time.

Block 0-500: 0 ARG
Block 500-1000: 1 ARG
Block 1000-1500: 2 ARG
Block 1500+: block reward random from 1-5. This sort of configuration is more realistic and adds additional security to the network by adding more variability. It also discourages difficulty hopping.

Random block rewards: Rewards are not completely random but deterministic random. Argentum uses the last block hash as a seed to generate a "random" number. The same number always results from a given seed so the network will stay synced.

Security
-Mined blocks mature after 30 confirms: Argentum is a fast currency but it does not compromise the safety of the blockchain in the process. The 30 confirms also serve as a cool down period for newly mined Argentum.

Ports
Listen port: 13580
RPC PORT: 13581

Mining
You can either solo mine or mine in a pool.

Solo
1. Launch the wallet after following the setup guide above
2. Configure your miner to connect to your local IP (Examples: 192.168.x.x:13581, 127.0.0.x:13581) using your RPC details.
3. Launch your miner.
Example:  Example: cgminer.exe -–scrypt -o LOCALIP -u RPCUSERNAME -p RPCPASSWORD

Pool
1. Create an account at a pool. It is not necessary for P2pool as you will use your ARG address to receive payment.
2. Create a worker if you are not on a P2pool.
2. Launch your miner
    Example: cgminer.exe -–scrypt -o POOL.COM -u POOL.USERNAME -p POOLPASSWORD
    Example P2pool: cgminer.exe --scrypt -o P2POOL.COM -u ARGENTUMADDRESS -p ANYTHING

The total ask orders is still around 10000B on Mt.Gox, but it increases from 2000 to 5500 on BTCChina. I'm not sure what it means, but could be a sign that BTCChina is going to slow down.
In theory, the coins to trade *should* be less day by day. Big players should have got their $ by now and smaller players are now holding their part of BTC. From what I understand; the idea is for the coins to spread...

#IMO====>

Big players = BITCOIN

Smaller players = ALTCOINS( LTC/DGC/BTE////etc etcc,,...)
