I get 304Mhash/s with my 5830 and 350Mhash/s with my 5850, temp at 70C for both

2x5830 (975MHz core clock, 340MHz mem clock) fan @ 70% getting 281.6 per video card, over 500 mhases.
I tried overclocking the 5830, took a dump on me. I feel safe at 975.

Alright, the best fix I had a friend advise me to go with, not sure if this will be helpful for anyone else. But anyway, he said take my clock speed to 975 and not all the way up to 1000 MHz, I think I'm writing that right (bear with me, I'm very new to all this overclocking stuff). He said at 975, the card will work great without having to tamper with any voltages at all. Stock voltages should be just fine he said.
That being said, I'm averaging 275/280 MHash/s now. Its a 20 MHash/s drop per card, but its better than losing close to 70 MHash/s on a single card I guess. Hope this helps anyone else who is having issues. Might want to toy around with different speeds and find out what your cards can handle.
Hey! It seems to work for my setup as well with my 2x5830. Getting 281.6 on each care, totaling ~560, thats a 100mhash difference from 800MHZ to 975 MHZ. (one thing though, I have my mem clock at 340 to decrease temp/voltage use). Thanks! |

I own a web hosting / design business. My servers have enough power to run almost anything (quad core, tons of ram, plenty of space). This is my colocation server and is my personal box for business. I did end up switching to Afterburner as suggested. But now the second card crashes in poclbm when running overclocked because Afterburner will not let me adjust my voltage at all. It is greyed out. Any idea how to work around this? Originally, I couldn't even adjust my clock speed past 875 MHz until I did the EULA trick in the config file. Is there a similar trick for voltage?
only trixx can modify voltages  Same problem running 2x5830's. Im getting 460 mhases at 340mhz memory clock , 800mhz core clock (no overclocking) anything over crashes my PC. BSOD :X |

No worries, I appreciate your help though just underclock until you get the best hash rate, and overclock until it crashes  now thats what i like to hear. doing 460 mhash/s with 310MHz memory and 800MH coreclock. 5-6 mhash increase! |

Now that you discovered wonders of underclocking, you might as well slightly overclock your card. It is done by increasing core clock. Don't be greedy here - you'll damage your cards if you set it too high
Yes, just did a max and my rig restart and froze. So let me get this right. Drop the memory clock and increase core clock (to overclock) right? |

I did... It mem clock at 340 just dropped my hash rate from 460 to 440. |

Thanks downloaded and installed; had to edit the .cfg file to allow messing with the clock rate.

I personally keep fans at 100% all the time, but what helps lowering temperatures the most is lowering memory clock to ~300MHz. You can do it with MSI Afterburner. Read more about it on the Mining board
What does the memory clock do exactly? Im techy, but never messed with gpus before. Also, wouldn't that effect my hash rate? |

Hi Guys, Im having heating issues, once GPUminer is on, both cards run to 85-88 celicius. (too hot) I just bought one of those desk fans and its pointed straight at the cards, no help, maybe 1-3 degrees. Specs: MSI 870-G45 motherboard AMD Athlon II dual core 2GB RAM\ Scout Storm Case 1,0001 AZZA PSU 320 GB WD HD 2xXFX RADEON HD 5830 @ total of 460 Mhash/s Note: running GUIMiner with (-v -w128) Now I'm afraid to mess with the RPM of the fan, it was at 30% running 1500 RPM, I've cranked it to 60% at 2900 RPM (much louder of course). It's doing 60 celcius now, cranking up the RPM won't kill my card right? What do you guys think? Am I doing anything wrong here or missing something? If I crank it back down to 1500 RPM @30%, It'll spike to 88 celcius. Pictures posted, thanks! I should update on the pending sale.
Currently I have 2 5850 and 2 PSU's on hold for a person for weekend local pickup. 6950 + PSU pending Payment to another person shipped international. The 2 remaining 6950's also pending to another local buyer for weekend pickup. FYI the shipping included is US only, but international shipping per case can be looked into. In most cases it seems I can ship out the each piece internationally using USPS Priority for another $20-25 per card after checking shipping to Russia and Indonesia. This might help out with some international miners.
Both 5970's and 8 5850's are still for sale at this point. Thanks for looking

Ok so I plugged in a 2nd monitor and it worked..how annoying is this going to be?
for all the rigs ive built, ill need a monitor? LOL (cant we use just a termination vga deadpoint or something?)
RE: Also, crossfire is not enabled, if I enable it, what are the advantages of using it for mining?
RE: Any alternative methods of doing this without requirng a 2nd monitor?

hi guys, new here at the forums...question! I have two XFX Radeon HD5830's running, just built a new BTC rig. Win 7 (N) 64 bit..default drivers to install my vid cards failed. I ended up installing off an older version and managed to get opencl/sdk in there. Now when I run guiminer, I am only seeing - cypress (vid card) and [1]CPU AMD ATHLON
Where is my 2nd card? any idea? |
