44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I tip for help! on: June 14, 2011, 09:08:46 PM
I have 2 big problems that i need fixed.

I got a new 6970 today and started to mine with it, getting around 360 mhash with it at stock settings. Whenever i try to overclock my mhash actually decreases. Is there any way to fix this so i can get more mhash?

My next bit of help is the hardest will top 1btc if u can solve.

I have a p7p55d-e motherboard, and NO ati card can be detected on the top slot. It works with my Nvidia cards but not my ati card. There must be a way to fix this so that i can get 2 cards running on this motherboard but i just cannot figure it out.

I have updated bios
updated all drivers
second monitor hooked up to the first card slot (blue slot)

none is working. Its not showing up in device manager and the computer wont even boot if thats the only slot with a GPU. The slot is fine it works fine with my nvidia 465.

any help would be great.

I have to go to class ill be back in 2 hours.

1) You can go up to 400 and beyond with the 6970, just need to overclock and download a few programs
-Which miner are you using? Guiminer? Phoenix?

I recommend phoenix, use these settings, should get 420 easily.

phoenix -u http://username.workername:password@swepool.net:8337/ -k poclbm DEVICE=0 VECTORS AGGRESSION=12 BFI_INT FASTLOOP=false worksize=128

975MHz/685MHz with MSI Afterburner.

If you need help with setting that up, PM me, I'll hop on AIM/Skype and help you out.
Should be fairly easy.

2) Does your ATI card work in another slot?
-Is it seated correctly into the PCI-E Slot?
-Power connectors nice and firm?
-When you plug and boot, does the fan work (is it spinning?)

It may be possible your card is (DOA) dead on arrival or a driver issue, why I ask to plugin to another slot.

I do NOT recommend you overclocking to 1025.

Information:
==========
1) 5830 uses more energy/wattage than almost any other card, specially @ 90% fan and overclock
2) Stick to 975/340 and you'll easily get 301 mhash/s with 70% fan speed.
3) 1025/325 is expensive ($$ pay for electricty)
4) Fans in general have only a certain # of life cycles (The more they spin, the less life-time they have) 90% way too much.

Fan's only have so many cycles, by upping the speed to 90%, you are reducing the life of your card.
Overclocking already voids the warranty, I wouldn't do anything further unless you really don't care about the GPU.

I speak from experience:
===================
I have 6x5830's setup with the above settings (975/340).
Anything over really is not worth it.
I've tried XFX and Sapphire cards, same setup works for bot chip-sets.

I keep my cards cool to 55-60 celcius, sometimes hits 62 but hey, it works just well.
Anything over 975 for me made everything just unstable.

Hope this helps.

46  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Phoenix using 100% CPU on: June 14, 2011, 08:48:48 PM
I think it's just windows prioritizing the processes. I'm not new at mining, device=0/1 is set.
I am also not the only one seeing 100% cpu usage. Bunch of my buddies see the same thing, only with PHOENIX though, not with guiminer.
47  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: NEWEGG HD 5830 IN STOCK as of 1:30pm Central 109.99$ on: June 14, 2011, 08:41:59 PM
ive got a vendor that sells 5830s, if interested, let me know.
I can throw them up on ebay so the transaction is secure. $200 each, free flat rate shipping.

Nothing wrong with it, thats ironically the problem.  We dont want too much power vested into one group, regardless of who they are, so we can keep bitcoin decentralized.  Hopefully this will even out as the other pools get more developed.

True..that's why he needs to break up his pool into multiple mini ones...

Mini me, you complete me!
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ebay? bitcoins? LOL! on: June 14, 2011, 04:24:54 AM

I'm surprised eBay is allowing this (or maybe they have some catching up to do)..eBay does own PayPal...interesting
56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin version 0.3.23 released on: June 14, 2011, 04:23:49 AM
Can we finally for god's sake get a wallet encryption feature?!

With all the recent hacking attempts,I vouch for that as well.
It can easily become a mess if we fail to encrypt ourselves, some of us don't know how to do this.

They're not manipulated images but I had a feeling some of you would think that. I can get slush and maybe a few others to corroborate me. In the end it doesn't matter any more. I'm going to step back from this forum for a bit. I'll keep an eye on the thread but not participate. There is nothing more that I can add to this so far.

dont get me wrong, i didnt pay attention to the date =\
sorry pal...get in touch with mtgox and some of the pool operators (tyco (deepbit) (dinox (swepool) etc.. and see if they can help
