981  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your favorite type of gambling? on: February 01, 2016, 04:02:13 PM
That depends on how much money do I have at that moment.
Often I play dice because you can play with different quantities and it's fun. But sports gambling is also fun.

Sports gambling is always fun and that also if you are gambling on your favorite sport, I prefer soccer and tennis for gambling as you have opportunity to win in a big amount, so only game can change your life.
982  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is their any safe methods to gamble? on: February 01, 2016, 03:54:15 PM
I don't think there's any safe methods to gamble, especially on dice sites and any sites who have provably fair. if sportsbook, i think there's a method. like always bet big on favourite, over goals or smth. its easy if you know how it works.
Sometimes you may find gambling profitable and safe for your investment in the case of, you are extremely lucky. Otherwise, you can not find gambling secured of your bankroll. It is just nature of gambling, backing these we are coming to enjoy the fun and pleasure of gambling.

Yeah, gambling is safe only if it is for just fun, and if it has become an addiction then there is no safe way to gamble, as addiction will allow you to loose your all hard earn money and you will be having nothing in your hands.
983  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best Sport To Gamble on: February 01, 2016, 03:51:12 PM
The best sports to gamble I guess football. There you can clear a lot of different prizes to win because the fact is most popular.

From high to low prices. But I find myself gambling on tennis fun.
you're right, I think tennis is also fun gambling, but no gambling fun besides football betting, I always predict the outcome of matches before play halted  Cheesy

Yeah tennis is fun, as there are only two possibilities, so I prefer to bet on both the players, when the odds are high for each respective player I bet so at the end of the end I have few profits in my wallet. And I have already made some good money using this strategy.

What do you risto think about the GHash.IO shit?

IMO it is a pretty considerable risk towards bitcoin, and could make some people hedge some of their btc stash and I'm thinking the same. But TBH even if this would result in panic selling, I really don't think we would even hit 400$ because GHash shit can be dealt with and there are currently loads of people and especially smart people interested in buying btc soon.

Should I sell 20-50% of my not so large stash (20-30) in order to buy some back in case the price goes ~400$?

986  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: April 14, 2014, 09:45:45 AM
Still 9,154.99 BTC shorted @ bitfinex, these could push the price up nicely in a few days if price keeps going up.
987  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: April 13, 2014, 11:41:27 PM
10,839.95 BTC of BFX shorts forgot to buy the dip to $400?  Huh Huh

Perhaps we are going lower. But what if their wish is not granted.. Shocked
When will the shorts be forced to close?

You guys still don't get it that real bottoms aren't temporal, but they last for weeks or more.
These "quick recoveries" are made by players with twitchy fingers and the same twitchy fingers come to play when the price doesn't seem to rise any more.

Don't take your advice from tools like rpietila, who is a bagholder at 460$, who was certain that the price won't drop below 380 just yesterday and who generally just can't understand any general concept of an efficient market.

As far as I have noticed, the capitulations consists of a bottom level (in this case the 400-450) and then maybe few flash crashes to lower levels (340).

And I think it is pretty absurd to think that anyone who bought @ 460$ is a bagholder when the price is at 40$ lower.

I see it as an far fetched presumption, because the price was at 450 for about 4 days till this drop occurred. In all honesty, I have no idea on what will be the proper bottom, I don't think that anyone can currently know this. But I know that it will be more clear when this period of extreme volatility will be over, that is caused by the process of money moving from China to the western exhanges. Until then, it's a blind gamble. You can also win by blindly gambling and some people like to play this way, I just don't.

If you understand bitcoins abitility and its potential in long term, IMO it's riskier to be shorting now than just hodling.

This is looking too obvious inverse head and shoulders, could it be?

Seems so. Smiley If we break 420 today, it's quite probable that the bear trend is over and the very bottom was @ 339,79. Just slightly lower than my abp!

However, if 420 is not broken today, the bear trend may continue for quite some time, as there seems not to be shortage of sellers. Gosh I wish I had more spare fiat to buy moar.

Basis for my TA:

Looks like 420 was breached @ bitstamp.

What I find hilarious of this current crash, is that it isn't the chinese selling. :Cheesy

400 breached, going down :3

An question for rpietilä, but others can provide insight.

If 400 is really the bottom even with these new China news, how fast do you think the recovery will start to begin?

Is it the newcomers after the massive media coverage of the gox incident?
New comers from the bankruptcy of "one of the biggest and oldest" exchanges, and theft of millions of USD worth of BTC?

The only thing that could happen would be old mt.gox users finally accepting losses and rebuy some of their lost coins.

Massive media coverage of bitcoin, because Mt.Gox. Lets say, that 1% of the people who heard of bitcoin, got it, and decided to buy. But I agree it's more likely that, goxbtc owners are forced to rebuy.

i played the daytrading game during the april 2013 bubble. put in a measly $2k, convinced my parents to put in $2k, and proceeded to daytrade like a madman and turned that $4k into $20k. it was the damnest thing: i woke up the morning of the crash, looked at the price which was trying to eat through $260 and thought to myself, "self, it went exponential compared to yesterday, i should sell and buy the dip." but it was 6 am and i'd just woken up. went downstairs and ate a bowl of cereal. came back upstairs and the price was $140 and gox was completely frozen. so sad...i promised myself i'd just buy and go long from then on, and i made a hell of a lot more holding my coins for half a year and selling at 900 than i ever did day trading Tongue now time to do it all again!
I've discovered a 'best of both worlds' strategy you can use during bull markets. You keep some coins on bitfinex - keep them as coins at all times (not usd), in your margin trading wallet. Then whenever there is a sharp movement downwards, you take an additional 2-1 margin trading position briefly during the volatility to make profits. Then convert your profits to bitcoins and add them to your stash. This way you have the ability to take advantage of volatility and downswings while still being able to keep all of your funds long in coins - it makes you much more able to commit to being long. I used this strategy during the october/november rally and used it to make a 50x gain rather than the 8x gain that everyone else was making. Of course this strategy also requires that you trust Bitfinex with those coins, and that you're not keeping them in cold storage, so it's not really "the best of both worlds".

Could you explain how that 2-1 margin trade actually works?
998  Economy / Speculation / Re: New ATH, $5,500...coming soon on: February 26, 2014, 09:00:51 AM
But if the gox coins are really gone, they got 2 choices, either give up, or buy more. The latter choice will bring loads of more demand to market.
999  Economy / Speculation / Re: New ATH, $5,500...coming soon on: February 26, 2014, 08:44:45 AM
What I think is intresting to see, is that if the ones getting burned on the Gox incident, are going to rebuy some of their stash back, or just get out of bitcoin.  Because there must be people who lost all their bitcoins, and still they realize bitcoin huge potential. So this might start the next mini rally, before the big investors jump in.
