1  Other / Beginners & Help / 1x to 16x powered risers not working. on: December 01, 2013, 02:14:33 AM
I have an MSI z77A-GD65 board a 1600w PSU, some sapphire 7950's and some 1x to 16x Powered Risers.

The cards work fine when plugged into the board, but the card connected to the riser doesn't appear to be recognized by the system.  (actually it might have once but it still didn't do anything)

Is there any particular reason that jumps out as to why this would be?

I should note that I haven't tried to plug all of the cards in via the powered risers... I have simply plugged 3 cards directly into the board and followed up with a 4th on a 1x slot to test - not sure if that would make a difference.
2  Other / Beginners & Help / CGminer as a service? Centralized management for multiple rigs? on: December 01, 2013, 02:02:50 AM
I am putting together a small farm of alt-coin rigs.  I'd like to be able to manage them programmatically if possible from a centralized system.  I'd like to be able to stop, start, and switch pools.  It seems that setting cgminer up as a service that takes the pool information as parameters would be a way to start...  but aside from not knowing the best way to go about this - is there a better solution?
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 50amp 120/240v Dryer Outlet on: December 01, 2013, 01:53:27 AM
Yes it appears to be a NEMA 14-50.

So in short if we can't rewire it -  A 240v 50Amp PDU would work - but we would need a converter because the plugs won't fit.  But assuming we had the converter - we should be able to plug them in and be good to go?

Not sure if thats the route we will take but its good to know that its possible.

Thanks for your help everyone.

Unfortunately I am renting at the moment - so its probably safe to assume that rewiring the dryer outlet is not an option.  But if I understand correctly there are PDU's available that would fit my needs - but they are just hard to find and expensive?

If a PSU is rated for 240VAC than is it correct to assume that it should be fine?

yah I guess "normal" being mining rigs.

I was thinking of putting a rack with a PDU and some rigs on it.  I am looking at the box for one PSU and it says 115vac - 240vac so I assumed it would work.   But then again this is outside my field of understanding.

Really?  That's would be great if so.  Do you happen to know where I could find some information?  I have looked around a bit and haven't found anything that seems to confirm it.

I assumed that it would be as simple as buying the right PDU and plugging it in - but I haven't found anyone who has actually done it.  I assume if its possible someone would have done it here though.

There seems to be a lot of topics where people are saying you can't use a 250v outlet for anything else but a dryer or an electric stove... but it seems like they are talking about plugging in something like a light or something.

I am wondering - is there a PDU or something that we could hook up to a 50amp 120/240v Dryer Outlet to power some rigs or is that simply not possible?

Hi -

What is your confidence in the target date?  Is there any kind of assurance regarding protection against a high hash rate or a missed delivery date?

I have been seriously considering ordering but it seems like things are still in the early stages so I am a little concerned if the target date is reasonable.

Wow - that is pretty harsh.  It doesn't seem like they go out of their way to rectify this based on the text on their site either.

I am curious - does anyone feel like this is a good deal?  If they could deliver by December / January it seems like it would be - but boy do they seem to have a bad rap right now.

Apparently so

Thanks for the link - at least from what people have said it appears that they can be.  I guess they just haven't put something out for awhile.

The quantity change does not appear to be a mistake from what I read.  That's kind of a bummer.  Apparently do not allow for group orders either.

Sorry - I just joined this forum - so this is the only place I can post.   It seemed that it would be better than simply posting another Introduction post.  I have seen other answers but I guess I haven't found anything that really made me feel confident in becoming vested in it.

I looked at their forum yet it seemed pretty sparse and it seemed like a lot of people were not getting responses.  I figure they are busy and it seemed like I might get a better response from a more widely used forum.

It seems like a great price - but it would be less great if they missed their target.
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Shares on KNCMiner Neptune Preorder on: November 26, 2013, 11:13:15 PM
Hi I am ordering a couple of KNCMiner Neptunes.   I'd like to cover the partial cost of at least one of them.  Is there anyone interested in purchasing shares?

I haven't done this before - so I am not entirely sure how to go about this.  Some guidance would be helpful.

Hi - I am new here.   I am considering purchasing some asic hardware from BlackArrowSoftware.  Has anyone had any experience with them?  Overall they seem to be pretty level-headed - but they seem to be a bit overloaded at the moment.

They say they can deliver in late February, but it seems like they are still in the planning stages.  Is this a reasonable expectation?
