I tell you diff @ 6, then 1.x then 4 then 1.x and no PoW blocks are being found for 10 mins, 20 mins. we need the block explorer that shows many blocks at once, it shows the timestamps. if u look thru the ones from the time here: 55849 Some blocks in between your list are pos blocks. 30 sec average time does not mean it is 30 sec all the time, sometimes it is possible to get one block after 10 mins. The next diff will be adjust down if the actual block time is above the 30 sec. The magnitude of the adjustment depends on how far the deviation is. well maybe it is working ok then, but u must look at this starting Block Height: 55849 if u go thru, there are times of 15 mins or more with no blocks, and the average blocks generated for many hours was maybe 1/4 of the target amount of blocks. |

Most of the payments are going to 9RasWHQWcNfcS86uk4pHC3v5KMafFyYUck which I guess is a PoS recipient. Only 6 mined blocks in that lot of 50. I gave up recording the addresses and ended up just looking for mined blocks.

altho it does seem to be correctly displayed right now I cant understand what was happening before, it must be a problem. forkpool had no blocks for over an hour before, and yet no one else is finding them either.

I looked at the mining and blockchain, everything seems fine to me. I am doing some solo mining now, and will report back if I find any blocks. Unfortunately I have only one 7950 mining now, my other two 7950 got burnt recently, and the replacement has not arrived yet. So it's a pretty slow mining.
From the diff variations, everything seems fine. It is normal that you see both PoW and PoS blocks. PoS blocks has many, since it generated once the coin-day meets certain criteria. The PoW block is generated on average every 30 seconds and the diff is adjusted based o the real block time.
From my experiences and the diff variations now, the coin is definitely not PoS-only. Let me mine a little more and see if I'll be able to get a PoW block.
PS. The diff is correct, I see it around 50K in cgminer, which mean diff = 50K/65536 = 0.76
the problem is real bosian I have seen it! the diff went to 4 and 6 yesterday without any1 solo mining, because we looked at the blockchain and there is no blocks to anyone only PoS and the forkpool blocks. if there was a big solominer then the blocks from him would be there I think the code is counting sometimes the PoS as PoW, and then the diff goes up, and less blocks are generated than intended. if you look at forkpool they have less blocks from last 24 hours than they should since there is not any big solo mining happening, fork should hit more blocks right now |

hi bosian, glad to see u the only problems are as follows: more issue with PoS blocks interrupting PoW and jacking up the diff the PoW blocks aren't coming every 30 seconds as should because of the problem and the diff is going up to 4 or 6 yesterday while seemingly no one is solo mining it, so it must be the PoS if looking at forkpool the diff seems to be lower now, but still not as many blocks in last 24 hours as forkpool should get. |

I just realized if difficulty would be independent from POS blocks, but they still count as a block, reward halving would come much earlier, than 3 months.
I asked bosian about this and he said it wouldn't happen. although he seems to be MIA right now. |

He rigged COL that way aswell... i don't think its helping anything in this case, not sure about wat happened with COL. but im pretty sure for GRA that it would get more miners behind it if it worked correctly for awhile. exchange isn't going to list a coin that is unstable, but hopefully bosian will have some reply soon. i don't think we need to jump to any conclusion, there is no reason to make your coin broken on purpose when you already have a premine. pretty sure this is just some complicated thing that happens to some coins because its hard to dev coins. |

This is exactly the problem, there is no big fish mining for 5 minutes on then 5 minutes off. Lets wait to hear from bosian and see what he has to say about it. Maybe he can fix it for good which would be cool and if not then get rid of PoS. It's his call. ya it may take some time to fix for good. at least right now its still generating PoW blocks so coins are being mined, just not as many as desired. when it does get fixed the coins/day should go up. |

unless im missing something theoretically there should be a PoW block on average every 30 seconds, give or take. diff shouldn't hit 4 unless sum1 BIG is soloing, and were not seeing the PoW blocks generated by that theoretical solo miner(s).
im pretty sure its counting PoS blocks towards the block time target for some reason. that or another problem is driving diff up.
earlier neither pool showed blocks for a loooong time even with combined 50 MH. theoretically with say at least 1/5 of the network 1/5 of the generated blocks would get hit by the pool, or a block every 2.5 mins. when you don't hit a block for an hour, something aint right. even if the diff gets bumped up you could expect a block every 10 mins tops.
currently seems to be working ok so that's good. blocks are rolling in much faster now.

You guys are right there is a problems and its been happening for several days. PoS blocks are replacing PoW blocks. This in turn drives up the difficulty and crushes the miners. I propose bosian slice out the PoS rewards to keep Grain stable. The PoS rewards were a cool aspect of the coin but at this point its best to forget about it and move on. The small PoS rewards are not worth these major headaches and are holding the coin back from growing.
well that or get it figured out why its doing this. PoS shouldn't count towards difficulty of PoW, pehaps its a small thing to fix. at any rate im sure no one would be upset if we removed PoS and put it back later, but i don't know if that's possible. i think PoS is an important part of why some people like grain, but personally i wouldn't care if it were taken out, others might think its detrimental to the coin. |

ok something deffo wrong, its not someone soloing. i wish i knew more about how this worked. looking at block explorer it shows a lot of PoS and not many PoW blocks, many minutes between PoW. so either something like a fork is happening (i don't think so?) or there is problem with the coin network getting work done. my best guess is that PoS generating is clogging everything up and or some wires are crossed in the code and its counting PoS as PoW in the diff targeting. that or someone is soloing hard and the coin is effectively being ddos'd and no one is getting blocks. duno why else the block explorer would show so few PoW blocks. may need to do some more fine tuning on the coin, standby for updates. *edit* reminder im not a dev, i just love grain, so i have no idea if this is a problem, how to fix it, or when it will be fixed. i just report the problems  not to worry, we have made it through all the hiccups so far, probably only a temporary issue. some blocks are still coming in. |

we are passing blocks now i think the network code needs to be updated because the load went down and now we are passing blocks again i duno whats happening, i don't understand the technical details of coin mining. but i think if someone big enough is mining solo then we don't get any blocks through. as soon as diff says 4 the pools aren't getting blocks, they should get a few still but seems they aren't. |
