guys, the scalability of DAG supposed to be much, much better than blockchain?
Is this an advantage of BYTEBALL?

an advantage yes, but IMO the first crpto projects to get real world adoption will not do so because of scalability

100,000 TPS sounds great, but if the only thing it does is send money back and forth between wallets good luck getting people to use the network

Tonys face when he hears barborrico wants to be a witness

98% price retrace with no change in fundamentals is no joke. I suppose that at least a short term bounce is due, maybe even something more.

fundamentals are stronger now, and will be much more so once the community selects witnesses

I will change them when Tony changes default witness list.

I am an end user, I don't have to care about that.

correct, its optional

I've been a fan of byteball from the beginning.
There was a lot of talk surrounding it last year but has been relatively silent the last couple months.
IT's good that this post can have people talking about it more.

One of the fundamental misundertandings in crypto surrounds the dominance of btc and eth.
There are many who feel that one or the other will always dominate the market and the value will forever continue to increase.
Or, they think that 10 years from now btc and eth will be worth much more than today.

The truth is btc and eth won't be around 10 years from now.
They will be replaced by superior technology.
That is how things are.  What, you expected people to stick with VHS tapes forever and that people will stick with ETH forever?

I think eth will still be around, but gieven no eth app has real world adoption at any scale its still anyones market

isn't byteball just completing their ICO? can the platform run so you can compare it to the platform from ethereum?

byteball never had an ico

The 70,000 Steem users that also have Byteball wallets can now win prizes by exploring real world use cases on the Byteball platform

https://steemit.com/byteball/@byteball.org/announcing-the-steem-use-a-thon-by-byteball

I am a member of Steemit platform also have an account on byteball but haven't inform about this contest or promotion.

Is this still ongoing till now?

Byteball still need more marketing team to expose this platform to the whole crypto community for it to become adoptable to people and companies especially to start up company developers for them to have an option either to use this or to stick to Ethereum Platform.

sorry its over! more will follow, maybe sign up to newsletter to stay informed http://content.byteball.org/subscribe-to-newsletter

Byteball is an amazing tech, should be in top 15. I think in december Byteball will see ATH in btc prices.

Sad but true: I would bet against that  Grin

Byteball was more than 0.38 BTC in summer 2017 - now it's 0.0063. If my calculation is correct we need +6000% against BTC.

In only two months? Never say never ... but ... never.

shows how overpriced btc has become

Tony and your team deserve a lot respect...

They probably do, as they did a lot of work to develop the coin with many nice features. But the distribution direction was changed in the middle, the marketing was not good at all, this causes a lot people left the project, otherwise this coin should be at top 15 coin at least.

the distribution was changed because the model was no longer growing the network like they initially did

in terms of getting bytes into the hands of new people, the new distros are better (though slower)

[reminder] BlackBytes Exchange BEEB is to close on october the 25th.

All customers MUST withdraw their blackbytes before this date or they will be lost (use the 'w' key when paired with BEEB).

[repeating] After this date blackybtes will be lost.

Thank you for your attention.

Is there any other reason that BEEB is to close except that one of low volume, the way I see it...? BB can't be exchange on traditional markets  thus OTC is very important for us.

when Blackbytes are distributed again volume will pick up. Before you ask, we are concentraqting on distriubting Bytes first, I dont know when the blackbyte distros will start again.

n.b. IMO blackbytes could be 'better' distributed than bytes, as we are learning lessons with bytes distros that can be used to distribute blackbytes better

Thanks for the suggestion but since most users (like Ben) are not going to be sponsors, we don't want to introduce extra steps for them.

I was thinking the opposite. Make users like Ben sponsors and let them spread the platform.

But if you say they are not going to be sponsors, I have nothing more to say.

I know what it feels when your suggestion is rejected, but what I say is based on data:
out of 72000 steem attested users, only 6700 had ever referred someone else;
out of 25000 real name attested users, only 1700 had ever referred someone else.

I've talked with many people about the possibility of certifying their identity with the real name bot but the idea of providing a copy of their ID card repels most of them. Even with the money incentives. People care about the security of their official documents. Jumio is literally an unknown company based in the USA. The disrespect of foreign citizen rights expressed by the USA government and the last news about GAFAs security leaks don't help to trust the Jumio company.

As I stated on Twitter few days ago, I will certify my identity in next days (waiting my new ID card, previous one outdated since October 10th) due to the warranties provided by the smart voucher about the bytes use I will give to people.

By the way, I'm a binational citizen. Should I certify my identity twice ?

Jumio has verified over 130 million identities. Sure, some people you speak with will not want to, but the fact they have already done so many shows many are fine with it

note: many people in crypto are probably more paranoid about identities than non cyrpto people in the real world (which is the vast majoirty of the worlds population)

Introducing Smart Vouchers: A New Way To Earn Referral Rewards By Sending Bytes To New Users

I like the text in your signature. Simplicity is beauty.

But the graphic that should explain Smart Vouchers is not understandable - too complicated.
So I will read the blogpost and hope to understand it afterwards.

agreed, graphic is complicated but we wanted to show people how it works.

to be honest Im not sure people will care. if they think they can make money growing the network (which they should be able to) it could really fly.

Further what people need to know is not hard. Just send some bytes to create a voucher code and share it with other people. They dont really need to know exactly how it works

@all fud and byteball haters

PLEASE LEAVE THE THREAD!!
or ask you the follow questions

  • Where were your ideas for the use-a-thon contest?
  • Why you cant subscribe the newsletter?
  • What are you doing for the project?
  • Why you cant read the whitepaper?

What is this for a shitstorm?
I'm not happy with everything, but i remain objective.
Look at github and see how many time spend tonych in this project.

The only bullshit are your comments!
If you can do it better, clone the project and do it!!

I think the FUD is from newbie accounts, probably paid for by other projects feeling threatened.

Better just to ignore them and reply to people that make genuine posts (both positive and  negative)

What kind of insane person comes up with such an idea?

I am almost sure that this new program is linked to real name attestation because all the other programs have been misused. Do you remember what happened with the telegram quiz? Or are you aware of the problems with the steem thing?

The problem is the greed of so many people and the willingness to do a lot of things just to get some "free bytes".

I think you are correct about why real name attestation is used.

The good news is Byteball has found a better way of distribution (verifying real world IDs and delaying the release of payments by smart contracts)

The future is bright for the remaining distributions
