^^ That's sort of why I asked, it feels like that's already happened.

How does the hardfork work? Is it something that happens automatically when enough people have the new client or does something need to happen?

I'm watching the market cap and value of this coin plummet below what I thought possible. What's happening here? <800k and now valued at 6 cents.

Wow, SBC is back on CoinMarketCap and it has dropped dramatically. Think this is because it was de-listed and people ran away?

I'm voting StableCoin because it actually brings something unique to the table. Quarkcoin pragmatically brings nothing new to the table other than some security features, but cryptocurrencies are already really secure so it's more or less a clone coin. And it being mentioned on a T.V. show does not give it any better fundamentals for it to be a currency. Stablecoin will offer anonymity with mixed transactions, and will have a very steady supply because its difficulty adjusts rapidly, every 90 blocks. Also, in reference to the recent bitcoin crash, StableCoin has performed incredibly well: On Tuesday, December 3rd 2013, the price of Bitcoin was around 1,100 dollars. The price of StableCoin was around 12 - 13 cents.
Today, on Saturday, December 7th 2013, the price of Bitcoin, after ENORMOUS fluctuations and instability, has now settled at around 750-775. About a 30% decrease.
While almost every other altcoin's value has plummeted, what is StableCoin's value at? About 16 cents. This is at least a 25% increase. If this isn't a sign of StableCoin's future and stability, I don't know what is.
So my vote's all for StableCoin. 100% agree with this. I see no reason to use quark, I do not believe their idea of mining the entire coin base first and then trying to get circulation is a good idea, it will not last. StableCoin however has some very nice ideas behind it, I really like how the developer is approaching the community and explains his choices well.

1. Datacoin 2. Securecoin 3. Quarkcoin
p.s.
not listing eMunie or Nxt, as they are not altcoins (commodities), but currencies.
Why quark coin? what does this coin have going for it? I honestly can't see a thing

How do sites like coinmarketcap generate their values? Is this simple to do?

It's a non issue. I could just as easily craft a client update that will create 50 billion coins and make them spendable only by me. This type of attack is possible on ANY coin.
Hey you can't help there being critics. I actually mine this coin and have quite a few, it's just that the users have to literally put all their trust in Artos that he won't do anything abusive such as making the coins spendable again or abusing the coin mixing service somehow. As of now we are still waiting for the big news he promised Yes! I was starting to go crazy thinking I had missed it or something

Here's the final logo. Just a clean, updated version of the original. Should please everybody. This, this is slick.

It would perfectly resemble the original id the very top of the "S" and very bottom of the "C" were widened so they touched the diagonal line created by the joining of the two in the middle.
<removed>
Just to clarify, I think the new one looks really good.
You mean like this? <removed> Just like that.

I also sort of like design 1, it has a nice clean feel to it. When it's shrunk down it won't be confusing about what the "S" is.
edit: after looking at both again, the horns aren't that intrusive. Calling them "horns" and associating it with anything other than little spikes on a font is ridiculous. Look at any Serif font, you get the same sort of thing. This is just tasteful styling.

I did some branding work on this, as the currency appeals to me. Feel free to use/disregard, contact me if you'd like anymore work doing (I do websites mainly). What do you guys think of this? That new branding looks awesome, I looked at it vs the old image I had downloaded ... no comparison. Hard to decide between spiked S and non spiked.

Definitely interested in this altcoin. Some neat ideas here that may pay off in the long run.

I'm also a noob just getting in to alt coin mining, after trying out bitcoin mining about 7 months ago. I have an nVidia card, so my hash rate is limited. Bitcoin obviously didn't work, but with altcoins i'm having some success. I'm seeing a lot of coins pop in to existence lately - but how often do they pop out of existence? Speculation seems to be literally driving the market, and there's so many competing opinions. It seems everyone's guessing - so I've been trying to do the same. Currently looking at megacoin, stablecoin and worldcoin. even LTC is too hard to mine now unless you have a pretty serious setup.
