621  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If You Had 20Bitcoin To Trade With... on: August 23, 2016, 03:04:02 PM
Spread it across several exchanges to hedge against a bitfinex event
1 to 2% per day is realistic if you trade alts full-time
Stick to the top 20 by mkt cap for liquidity. Buy the fact, sell the pump.
622  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ICONOMI - Fund Management Platform ❘|❘ ICO starting in 48hrs on: August 23, 2016, 01:58:50 PM
Can you provide access to some scenarios that lay out how the dividend math to token-holders would work in practice? I would imagine that some folks here may not be that sophisticated in their understanding of how the value flows through the layers here. Thanks.
623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Lisk Price Discussion on: August 23, 2016, 01:55:34 PM
Yes, the Lisk price feels like it is being artificially suppressed by insiders via the exchanges. It will eventually move, and probably move big. I am thinking of building a position with a 150-200k target.
624  Other / Off-topic / Re: Have you ever lost Bitcoin? on: August 23, 2016, 12:43:50 PM
I had a tiny amount in a paper wallet in 2013. I was testing bitaddress.org, I was still pretty new to cryptos then.
Misplaced the paper wallet, never found it, lost the coins.  Angry
625  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin the answer if traditional investments are letting you down? on: August 23, 2016, 11:35:32 AM
I think that BTC as an asset class will go mainstream via the ETF wave that is coming. In fact, it is inarguably important that foplks can take some exposure to an uncorrelated asset class without necessarily needing to be experts. Articles like by the Guardian help accelerate this.
626  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your plan to get rich with Bitcoin? on: August 23, 2016, 11:28:45 AM
My plan is to build a core holding of BTC, which will be held for 5 to 10 years at a minimum, use maybe 10 to 15% of the stash to build more BTC via speculation. In the end, build a core portfolio of BTC with maybe a sprinking of ether/etc & Z-Cash (?) to round out.
627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: California lawmaker is asking for more regulation on cryptocurrencies on: August 23, 2016, 10:56:56 AM
Some excellent perspective in this thread here on what was wrong with the original form Calif legislation situation:

628  Local / India / Re: how to deposit money to BTC-e from India (Indian BTC Traders Help) on: August 23, 2016, 10:36:11 AM
The real arbitrage is if you have a way to access coins abroad in real-time off exchanges where they trade at market, and sell above market in face to face transactions. Risky, but there seem to be quite a few guys on localbitcoins that are making a decent living off this skim.
629  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymity hype Philosophy & Warning of the ongoing Monero pump on: August 23, 2016, 10:33:39 AM
Has anybody seen a good, well-argued critique of Z-Cash that they can link to?
I like what  I have seen of Z-Cash so far, but want to be sure that i have also absorbed dissenting views
630  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What Altcoins will be most adopted in 2017 on: August 23, 2016, 09:57:15 AM
Think all the privacy coins will see widespread adoption and PR in 2017: monero, dash, Z-cash etc. Think Ethereum Classic, if it hangs around that long, will also do well.
631  Economy / Economics / Re: Tell me your predictions about Bitcoin on: August 23, 2016, 09:02:23 AM
Simply, 30% chance that BTC will become the native currency of the internet and of IoT by the year 2025. If that plays out, I ecpect BTC to trade in the $20k to %50k per coin range. 70% chance of a zero to $500 range.

Long and uncertain path ahead.
632  Economy / Economics / Re: How good are you at managing your money on: August 23, 2016, 08:59:23 AM
Yes, I am pretty good at saving money and even reasonably disciplined at allocating a prescribed % of my earnings to BTC, but the key learning for me was that it is important to also spend money to have fun. I have a "fun" budget.
633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Search for the next Bitcoin? on: August 23, 2016, 08:55:47 AM
I don' think there will ever be another BTC, so you need to have a core position, But I can see one privacy-based coin (perhaps Z-cash if executed well) and perhaps ethereum classic (or core?) becoming highly valuable ecosystems
634  Local / India / Re: [Discussion] Ways to earn bitcoin for undergraduates and people with free time on: August 23, 2016, 06:10:40 AM
Why would you not get the best job that you can, allocate a certain % to BTC, set up a CoinSecure or Unocoin account, and buy some every month? Seems like the best way.
635  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price pretty much flat for the past few weeks. Permanent? on: August 23, 2016, 06:08:31 AM
The overhang of miners hoarding BTC in anticipation of the halving is playing itself out. Expect the price to move again in a few weeks. I am expecting a $750-1000 range by year-end
636  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymity hype Philosophy & Warning of the ongoing Monero pump on: August 23, 2016, 06:06:58 AM
Any thoughts on whether the Monero pumping is just being set up to set up an exit for whales eyeing Z-cash as the next thing?
637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin really unbreakable? on: August 22, 2016, 03:39:52 PM
The fact that it has been opensource and received numerous attacks over the last 7 years without being compromised is encouraging. What I am most comforted by is that the core devs are so conservative that they will protect immutability above all else which is good for the security design.
638  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ima little drunk tonight and I have 3 more btc to invest in alts. But which ones on: August 22, 2016, 03:37:00 PM
I would hang on to them and just pick up some Z-cash when it launches in a couple of months. Too many of the ones popping right now are blatant pumps to exit. Beware.
639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Obvious ETC manipulation to keep the price low on: August 22, 2016, 03:31:09 PM
I am ideologically a supporter of ETC rather than ETH but not sure I am seeing the manipulation that you are seeing. While it is true that there is some ETC selling going on, I see plenty of buying on dips going on at least on bittrex in the 250 to 350 sat range. Cheap coins.
640  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Follow me trading :) on: August 22, 2016, 10:58:44 AM
Agree completely about Monero looking overbought here, although I quite like the tech behind it. I set up a short Monero, long Maid trade earlier today, so let's see how this plays out for me
