141  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2220 GH/s] Slush's Bitcoin Mining Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz) on: July 31, 2011, 11:07:38 AM
My reward on several rounds says 0.00000000. What does it mean? It can't be precious enough to show more decimals? Thanks.

143  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Ufasoft Miner Thread - SSE2-optimized for Intel CPUs, version 0.19 (2011-July) on: July 29, 2011, 01:25:58 AM
Is there a way I can get the previous version which doesn't trigger the virus alert?
144  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Modified Kernel for Phoenix 1.4 on: July 29, 2011, 01:19:37 AM
Great to see the continuous improvment

-% luck means it's good. Read the description.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining Namecoins is now 2x more profitable than Bitcoins on: July 27, 2011, 03:28:49 AM
I just looked at the stats. It seems 24000 blocks will come at least 2 months later

Block Time Difficulty Ratio
Last 18144 23/07/2011 20:14 94'037.96 x0.26
Instant 18144-18264 27/07/2011 02:00 24'181.19 x0.26
Next 20160 16/09/2011 06:54 24'181.19 x0.26
148  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New .Net Miner (now with GPU and long poll!) on: July 27, 2011, 02:27:50 AM
I'd like to support the .Net solution. I always want to write one but too lazy...
149  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~5000 Gh/s] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop,instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: July 27, 2011, 02:24:13 AM
So after a day of bad luck (actually meaning not as lucky as we used to LOL), we're back!

Average shares per block: 1482591 (-14.1%)
Average in last 24 hours: 1131453 (-49.4%)

This is like mining at the difficulty a few levels back.
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 7Gh/s ... NMC or BTC ... or BTC pool hopping? on: July 24, 2011, 08:42:46 PM
YOu need to read a paper on why mining to the 47% CDF point is optimal (the number could be wrong but it should be close).

You can't do that with BTCguild or slush because their stats are delayed.
151  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Pool hopping... ethical or not? on: July 24, 2011, 08:40:24 PM

Also, if you live in the first world and don't think your standard of living comes from harming people living in other parts of the world you're deluded.  I won't go into detail, you can get there yourself by starting with a google for "third world exploitation" and "human cost of globalism" or even, most pertinent to this audience, "third world electronics recycling."

+1

I actually moved one of my miners for pool hopping.
152  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Pool hopping... ethical or not? on: July 24, 2011, 07:59:05 PM
everybody's moral standard is different. asking the question just brings more meaningless arguments, same as if you ask if downloading mp3 is ethical.

153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 7Gh/s ... NMC or BTC ... or BTC pool hopping? on: July 24, 2011, 07:28:00 PM
You can rationalize your theft all you want.

You aren't putting in 15% more effort to find blocks, but you'll happily walk away with 15% more pay.

Mining namecoins for a few days is different. You're mining something more profitable. You're not stealing from anyone.
When you pool hop, you steal from the other pool members, who make less money than they *should* because of your "optimizations".

That's cheating, and stealing.

It's nice to know the next generation doesn't have any morals.  Roll Eyes

By your definition, you're cheating when mining namecoins. You're stealing from long-term namecoin miners.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining Namecoins is now 2x more profitable than Bitcoins on: July 24, 2011, 04:33:36 PM
hopefully deepbit will switch at then. It'll take a month to get the next diff level (based on the stats now). Then hopefully a party again to reach another diff level in a few days, then we will at block 22176 and the remaning 1824 blocks probably will take another month to mine (assuming history repeats).
155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: please stop using the bitcoin client on your home computers to store your BTC on: July 24, 2011, 10:22:44 AM
Agreed with OP.

I stored most of my funds in mtgox (and some in tradehill). Yes, I'm aware of the past incident. But my friend got all his money/BTC back from mtgox. And it's the biggest exchange, I believe they will recover all your funds for any mistakes/incidents related to their operations.
156  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~5000 Gh/s] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop,instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: July 24, 2011, 10:01:24 AM
amazing pool luck. loving it!

Average shares per block: 1561656 (-8.3%)
Average in last 24 hours: 1354488 (-24.8%)
157  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~2250 GH/sec] BTC Guild - 0% Fees, LP, SSL, API, 8 Decimal Payouts and more! on: July 24, 2011, 07:38:24 AM
Seems I partially missed the good 5 days. For the last 3 days, I was mining namecoins...
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining Namecoins is now 2x more profitable than Bitcoins on: July 23, 2011, 07:44:51 PM
You don't need the master control center. Just observe how fast a namecoin block is found using the namecoin blockexplorer. My guess is it'll take some time for people to switch
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining Namecoins is now 2x more profitable than Bitcoins on: July 23, 2011, 07:11:06 PM
Less than 50 blocks left for this difficulty. Counting down...
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining NMC Solo - Is this to be expected? on: July 23, 2011, 07:00:24 PM
YOu need to measure the whole duration. WIth your rate 1760Mhash/s, you're supposed to get one block every 16 hours. So far 3 days since the beginning of this namecoin party, so I guess you should get about 4.5 blocks
