41  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin is the new era of currency? on: March 12, 2018, 03:51:54 AM
I don't think that this is particularly new, however bitcoin is young.
It is the first cryptocurrency that can be earned online, and it has been here for a decade or so.
In a few countries, shops even accept bitcoin as payment for stuffs bought.
42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Am i too late on: March 11, 2018, 03:04:25 PM
It is never too late to invest in bitcoin, it may feel like your late due to it's soaring prices now. But many believe that those who invested in bitcoin with less than 10k price are early adapters of it. And we don't even know prices will be in the future, say in the net 2-3 years.Who knows, prices might increase.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Am I a newbie and can participate in some of the project's bounty activities? on: March 09, 2018, 04:53:55 AM
You can check out help topics for newbies there are a lot of tips and topics out there that can fast track the learning process.
In joining bounty hunting, I suggest you participate in signature campaign, in a way you can also read a lot and raise awareness.
And if you have a lot to spare, just do trading. It's way faster but a lot risky
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do I need to sell all alts? on: March 07, 2018, 08:22:16 AM
It is not always the case the when bitcoin price, alts will go down. there are also the case of which relationship is direct and linear. Like if bitcoin price goes up, alts also go up. However, only a few of these alts exhibit that pattern. So if you really believe in your coin, that it has a clear development plan with strong community support and good products, then I suggest you hold on to it.
otherwise, trade it for something else.
45  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Philippines is starting to accept bitcoin. on: March 06, 2018, 11:10:04 PM
This is nothing but a success to the bitcoin community as a whole.
This may just become the first few steps towards legalizing bitcoin in the country.
This just goes to show how interested Philippines is with bitcoin.
46  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MERIT SYSTEM FOR NEWBIES on: March 05, 2018, 03:01:41 AM
What percentage for a Newbie like me to get merit   ? seem impossible i think

I believe we have opportunity to get a merit, regardless of ranks.
But what differs us form them is they have knowledge and can make quality posts, therefore many will acknowledge them and give them merit for it.
So maybe we can read more and make quality and useful posts and earn merits.

Sixth Grader Writes a 57-Page Book About Bitcoin

An 11-year old named Andrew Courey from Massachusetts just published a book on bitcoin so the younger generation can grasp this emerging technology that's been sweeping the globe. The sixth-grader considers himself an expert on bitcoin, and his 57-page book describes cryptocurrencies in a way his peers can understand.

A 57-Page Book About Mastering Bitcoin Written By a Sixth Grader

Andrew Courey is a middle school student from Massachusetts, and he hopes to earn $20Mn by the age of fourteen. Courey made an agreement with his parents who said if he earned $20Mn by then, he could drop out of school much like the bitcoin millionaire Erik Finman's deal with his parents. So after countless hours of research and Youtube videos covering the subject of bitcoin Courey decided to write a book on the topic. The book called "Early Bird Gets The Bitcoin: The Ultimate Guide To Everything About Bitcoin," is available on Amazon in both e-book form or as a paper copy.

The introduction states:

Today we will be learning about an online currency created by Satoshi Nakamoto, and by the end, you will become a master of bitcoin.

Courey's dad is a tech investor and prompted Andrew to put his studies to good use by publishing a book about bitcoin in a more simplified manner.

"Anyone can learn about cryptocurrencies if they're willing to spend 70 to 80 hours researching every source until they find a couple sources that make sense," Andrew explains in a m/2018/02/25/11-year-old-andrew-courey-wrote-a-book-on-bitcoin.html]recent interview with CNBC. "The whole book, in the simplest terms, is very easy to read and simple to understand."

Cool

This is very cool and all, but I really don't think many people who actually know about cryptocurrency will ever buy this book. It seems way too simple, and is probably geared more at the general public who don't know anything about blockchain and bitcoin. Here's a quote from the article that made my opinion:

"Courey explains that a blockchain is similar to a public Google document that’s 'shared with everyone and that can only be edited by buying or selling bitcoin.'"

More power to him for being 11 years old and writing a book -- that's an amazing accomplishment. However, for most people on these forums, I think they're better off just reading through any boards here or asking questions they may have here as well. They'll get the same, if not better, information to work with.

This is kid is just seriously an expert in his own right. Imagine to have published at such a young age of the  very recent hype in the online world.
I salute my hats to this kid.
On another note, his achievement is great and all not argue on that, but this guide he wrote may be applicable to those that have very limited idea on the blockchain technology. In addition, people can just join this community "bitcointalk.org" and ask questions and get answers with equal learning in the book, if not better.
But then again, it is a great achievement and will usher in more supporters for the cryptocurrency community thru education
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is posting earning? on: March 01, 2018, 12:40:24 AM
I believe we can earn when we make posts here in Bitcointlk forum. But only if we participate in bounty campaigns, like signature campaign, facebook, twitter, telegram among others. but we need to rank up first to jr. member as the minimum requirement to join. Also other ICO campaigns no longer accept jr members but members.
So, good luck to us and happy posting
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hacker Returns $26 Million in Ether Months After ICO Theft on: February 27, 2018, 01:00:38 AM
I remember the Coindash hack, I would have been one of the investors would I not have gone to the beach on that day. It is quite amazing that the hackers have returned part of the money. Maybe negotiations have been hold since the hackers were afraid to be caught. A nice mystery.

You think the reason the hacker hasn't returned all 43,000 Ether is because he struck a deal with the team? I find that hard to believe, because they're still looking for him:

Quote
· We have notified the Counter Cyber Terrorist Unit in Israel.

· The hacker’s Ethereum address will continue to be tracked and monitored for any suspicious activity.

If he isn't confident he can't be found he would either never touch the Ether or return everything hoping they let him off the hook.

But if he's sure he'll never be caught why return any Ether at all?

Maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle. A hacker who didn't realize the consequences of his actions at the time and is still in a state of confusion.

I smell something fishy going on in there. A hacker returning most of the funds stolen. That is just quite convenient.
There are a lot of scenarios that may be at play regarding this and we don't know which really is it. Or at least from where I stand.  Grin
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is taken more seriously than Dogecoin? on: February 26, 2018, 11:02:16 PM
Is this a joke? While Dogecoin community is more friendly (and funny), they don't have any clear roadmap or plans for their future development which means most cryptocurrency will beat Dogecoin in technology which means Dogecoin won't have any advantage in future.

So, joke coins without development can't be taken seriously.

Mainly the reason why dogecoins did not grow for the past few years, it has no clear roadmap and development plans for the future. So nobody would invest in it, so it cannot be compared with bitcoin
51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: will people lose intrest? on: February 24, 2018, 02:09:35 AM
Others would probably take the opportunity to lead the digital currency and global crypto market.
It's just like in ecoology, with the elimination of the top predator, others with the same niche or role will take its place.
So maybe Litecoin or Etherium will replace it.
Crypto assets will not die down
52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin cannot replace currency in the world because price is not stable on: February 22, 2018, 08:24:06 AM
Bitcoin is not made to replace every countries' currency, rather it is a currency in a different platform - digital world.
Yes prices of bitcoin is highly volatile and changes to as much as 20 percent in the next few days or weeks, that is because it occurs in the global market and it can be used globally, I mean it does not have a specific country if which it can be used as local fiat, as opposed to US dollars in US - Riyals in Riyadh, Peso in Mexico.
But it is the beauty of bitcoin, volatility, that many gain profits! You need only be clever.
Don't imitate me-not clever!  Grin
53  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Future on: February 20, 2018, 09:10:24 AM
I have high confidence that bitcoin will surpass $20,000 in near future.
I mean look at the demands of it now, there are a lot of investors now than it did in the past.
A lot of countries are promoting and attracting people to Bitcoin digital assets.
So in my opinion, it will easily surpass it's past charts.
54  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin = $1 Million by 2020 on: February 20, 2018, 04:03:00 AM
John McAfee Bullish on Bitcoin Price Reaching $1 Million by 2020.
He wrote in Twitter: "When I predicted Bitcoin at $500,000 by the end of 2020, it used a model that predicted $5,000 at the end of 2017. BTC has accelerated much faster than my model assumptions. I now predict Bircoin at $1 million by the end of 2020. I will still eat my dick if wrong."

Can yo believe this? What are your own predictions?

I'm not much good on predictions, but I think he can start eating his dick already.  Cheesy
He seems so much aggressive on bitcoin price, isn't it too much? For me 3 years is not enough for bitcoin to reach that kind of price, but I think his influence and predictions may bring a good impact on bitcoins community. Which is more better!

I just saw him cooking his thing you said he'd eat!  Grin
But anyway, this is an exaggeration on a skyscraper level! I don't buy this prediction it's just way too overwhelming.
Let's just work with boundaries that are in near reality guys.
55  Other / Off-topic / Re: Flat Earth on: February 19, 2018, 01:50:36 PM
All you need to do is just look at the horizon, and you'll see that it is not flat.
Another thing is you do similar thing Eratosthenes did, he measured the angle of his shadow at exactly 12 noon when the sun is overhead.
He found out that at a certain area it's angle is zero, but at a different city the angle is not may be 7 degrees.
By that you'll know that the Earth is not flat, but round.
