Is this coin still being developed ?

Anything coming up for VertCoin ? I loved this coin but with all the POS/Anonymous craze, the only advantage, if there is one, is the ASIC resistant part which might not even hold if the price picks up?

Yes there are things in the works. Let's not forget though, the reason most people who ask "what new development is taking place" is not because they are interested in new features, nor that they have any idea what those new features might be. The reason most people ask that is because they see "new features" as bringing attention, giving them a fresh opportunity to get in on the latest pump-and-dump. I'm not saying that's why you asked, but if it is, you're in the wrong place.

The PoS craze is typical pumping and dumping of coins with zero network security and no future whatsoever.

Are you guys going to add the option to have the transaction be anonymous either by porting DarkWallet or having masternodes like DarkCoin ?

No we're not going to be adding Darkwallet or "masternodes" however we do have some privacy features in mind. We've always said we wouldn't be going down the anonymity route as it's antithetical to mainstream adoption.

Sometimes they just don't want to put in the effort to innovate and troll for ideas from smarter people than themselves.
Then they slap the same thing onto their talking points to sound good in the crows...

Too harsh?

No Multipool = Low Price? Huh
HashCows is a multipool which pays out in AC...

I don't know how many times we have to publicly say "VTC will hardfork if necessary to keep ASICs out" - we must have said it a hundred times!

I'll say it again, in case repetition number 101 will help - VTC will hardfork if that every becomes necessary to keep ASICs out. This isn't LTC, we're not going to suddenly decide to give up and capitulate in the face of a need to hardfork, we will do whatever is necessary to keep VTC decentralised and in part that means excluding ASICs by whatever means necessary.

2 questions:
1) What exactly is a "hard fork" and how does it prevent ASICs from adapting to the algorithm in-use.
2) How can one tell exactly when ASICs have penetrated VTC mining, vs when GPU's shift to VTC mining because ASICs have forced them out of Scrypt?
864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin | Scrypt N | Beat ASIC on: May 18, 2014, 03:11:31 PM
Ok, if/when ASICs invade Scrypt to a significant degree (probably starting with Zeus, Fib and Alpha), GPU's will shift to Scrypt-N to regain hashing power.
So, how does VTC differentiate between ASIC workloads adding to the global hashrate vs displaced GPUs being added to the global hashrate?
865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin | Scrypt N | Beat ASIC on: May 17, 2014, 08:35:17 PM
I hope those f***g dumpers who selling now loads of coins will suffer Huge pains soon when wake up with nothing...
THE END grrrr
Why do you care? If they are dumping at a low price, all that does is give you a chance to acquire at a low price.
Should be good for you in the end.
866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AC] AsiaCoin | Back on all Exchanges | Premine Voided | Multipool Ready on: May 17, 2014, 02:49:27 AM
All right, im a bit puzzled about how HashCows works. Ive been mining there all day long.
My account balance is 0, with no coins or credit that I can find. It shows a decent hash rate with a few rejects, but I can't see that im actually earning anything for my mining power. I looked under "Account Ledger" and "Balances and Cashout", but it's empty.
Is this a legit site or am I missing somthing?

There seems to be talk like the GAW miners are similar to Zeus miners.
Does anyone know where GAW got their miners from? Are they Zeus knock-offs or from a different company?

GAW and Zeus have the same descriptions on their sites for their hardware and GAW is providing the hosting for Zeus.  Other companies are also using Zeus hardware, just branded.  That's what we know. Smiley
Ok, so these are Zeus miners just rebranded. Thanks for that info.

Sorry, should have been more clear when I say branded.  For what we know everyone is using Zeus chips and possibly full assembly.

By the looks of it, ZH, Hashra, and GAW are all selling the Zeus hardware, however there is a lot of room for variance.  Case design can lead to more effective hashing if cooling is an issue with the Zeus chips, modifications can be made for volt-mod type adjustments (like how folks sell volt-modded Gridseed units), firmware can be customized, etc.  So someone may have a higher hashrate while someone else has lower power consumption, meanwhile someone else has a unit that runs cooler and works better for heavy stacking in locations.  We also know most have similar language regarding hashrate, power consumption, and performance.  There's also hosting, since for some folks actually receiving and running hardware is a sh**-show so hosting is a must, which differentiates the companies.
Thanks. Have the dimensions been provided for the miners? I would like to see how to fit them into my rackspace.

Hi all!

I really like the way this coin is progressing ! and its really nice how it has such an active community... I think its really KEY for this coin's success and I'm happy to join you all  Smiley

There is a question I got for everyone here..

Which pool would you recommend me to mine VTC at ?

I am currently mining in dedicatedpools and I'm really getting way less than what I'm supposed to be getting from with around 1200kh ( the WU worker utility is also around that mark) so i guess that the pool had some hard time finding blocks lately. yes I know it sounds greedy but I would like to get to know about some reliable pools with high pool hashrath Smiley

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated !

Thanks from advance

I'm in simplevert.com
Triple merged mining VTC + MON and PLX!

Also, give-me-coins.com does the same tripple mining.
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin | Scrypt N | Beat ASIC on: May 16, 2014, 02:54:15 PM
What's the main differences between VTC and EXE? They both use Scrypt-N. From what I read here, it appears that "community" is the big factor.
I also noticed that there are 2 different mining softwares being used. vertminer for VTC and exeminer for EXE.
Are they the same miner? Is there a generic mining software for Scrypt-N?
Ive had a very hard time trying to get my GPUs working for VTC and was wondering if it's the same for other Scrypt-N coins, or are the problems im having specific to vertcoin only?

2800 watts? holy fudge nuggets...
You can't even run this off a normal house circuit.
Who would run this type of mining equipment in their house?
A 42U rack of this is more power than a house has anyhow from a 200A circuit.
Suggest keeping these in the data center and not moving them to your house.
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The big VTC Vertcoin settings thread on: May 16, 2014, 11:32:13 AM
I've created PHP script that connects to cgminer / vertminer and in cycle changing GPU / MEM freq and reads hash rate -> and all is written into log file.
Interesting, but how do I run this? Im not a programmer and dont know what PHP is. Can you provide any details on how to use this?
874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin | Scrypt N | Beat ASIC on: May 15, 2014, 10:05:46 PM
I mostly see options for enhancements to wallets, but not much to the coin itself.
Seems the options in coins is mostly marketing... Those who are good at marketing a new coin can drive interest in it.
875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The big VTC Vertcoin settings thread on: May 15, 2014, 07:46:15 PM
Is there anything other than the BIN file which would cause the GPU to retain settings?

It seems like there is another file. Are you able to compare the files in the folder you're using against what came in the original? That might be worth a shot.

You don't have your LTC files in the same folder, do you?
No, cgminer and vertminer are each in their own directory. I did a global search of C: for additional BINs and didn't find any.
Im wondering if it's the GPU or OS which needs to reboot to clear the settings.
Between these vertminer tests, I have been running the GPU's on Scrypt to keep them busy, so I may try a reboot tonight then startup the single-line command and see where the GPUs land.
876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The big VTC Vertcoin settings thread on: May 15, 2014, 06:10:23 PM
Copy this exactly. Only changing what's underlined:

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
vertminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://your pool:PORT -u MyUsername -p MyPassword

But before you run, delete the old config file and all .bin files. If it works, go into settings to write your own config file. Once it's generated, you can tinkle with the settings. You don't have to put your parameters in your .bat

Let me know if it works.

Ok, ran that exact command (except used --scrypt-vert) and got only 1 out of 4 gpus running. It came up to 116KH/s (30% of Scrypt speed). Other GPUs still show as Failed/OFF.
Tried to enable them, but they just stayed at 0KHs.

vertminer --scrypt-vert -o stratum+tcp://vtc.give-me-coins.com:3337 -O usao.M4:x

Whoops! I forgot to add the -vert, nice catch!

So we have a great start then Smiley  before you write your config (if you have, just delete the file and .bin again), disconnect all but one card and try again. If it works, write your config file. Now you can begin to tweak your settings in your file, use the .bin generated to grab your thread concurrency. Work with just this one card until you find the optimum settings. Once you're satisfied, shut down and add another card and run your .bat. If it works, remember to write your config file again Smiley  and you should tweak the parameters on the second card as well - sometimes even the same card might have slightly different values.

I won't be able to unplug the other GPUs till I get home tonight.
But I did notice somthing I though was odd.
Even though I deleted the BIN files, I saw that the gpu settings were persisting from the last run of Scrypt (LTC).
Same engine/memory and intensity settings anyhow.
Is there anything other than the BIN file which would cause the GPU to retain settings?

I know there are a lot of questions about staking at the moment, I have the problem that my wallet was staking away like a good'un then stopped 5 days ago... I have had the wallet open for at least 3 hours a day (longer over the last weekend) its not locked and the coins are obviously old enough.... any reason why they might have suddenly stopped staking?

Anyone got any ideas? coins suddenly stopped staking... no coins moved or anything, running new wallet etc.... starting to piss me off! Smiley

From what I understand it's about the exact age of each coin in your wallet.
If you got a stake 5 days ago, those new coins (and your old coins) won't qualify for further staking untill they reach 14 days total (9 more days).

Ahh thanks, that had occurred to me but I saw a few different posts saying that you should receive the interest little and often on a daily type basis.... cheers for clearing that up for me! Smiley
For me, I got coins all durig the first 14 days of mining, so I do get stakes almost every day as the ages of my coin are all over the place.
There is one question for the DEVs...
Regarding the age of the coin. Do the "new" coins I either mine or obtain by staking qualify for the 100% APR from the point of creation? In other words, if I get stake coins in December, will they still get the 100% APR for the first 2 months of the coin's lifespan or is the 100% APR only for coins created in May/June?

Ok, so brief wallet outages are no big deal, I won't "loose" any staking, just possibly get slightly older coin for future compounding.
I get that. Cool, I was worried I might miss-out all together on any stake which would have occured overnight.
