41  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing GekkoScience's new USB stick miner, the aptly-named NewPac on: April 09, 2019, 07:03:31 PM
Some numbers

Second GekkoScience hub & 6 Newpacs arrived yesterday (Thanks MFB)

2 Gekko hubs & 12 Newpacs setup to run at 200Mhz

ASICBoost on is 67W at the wall

ASICBoost off is 73W at the wall

Hash rate is 543Gh/s's at CK's pools

Cooling with plug-in Arctic Breeze Mobile fans, 2 per hub

Raspberry Pi3+ with VH's latest code

Gotta love in-home, quiet mining.....

Cheesy

@ck

Apologies for using the solo pool forum

Small miner setup

pool.ckpool.org runs six NewPac's and hash rate is pretty much 100% on spec here and there information wise
These are run on a Gekko USB hub and Pi
Asic Boost enabled

solo.ckpool.org runs two 2Pac's and hash rate is pretty much on spec here and there information wise
These are plugged into a Windows 7 machine with Y-cables into USB ports

Both are hardwired to the router, speed 75mbps

This is what I'm seeing on the pool.ckpool.org side
A drop of 20 or so percent when I turn on the Windows machine with the 2Pac's on the pool side enabled
The Pi screen says the hash rate is fine tho, to spec
The solo side is fine

If the 2Pacs are turned off on solo, the pool side stats go back up to rated hashing

Any idea's? Conflict?

Using six Newpac's at default hashing rate of 22.8 g/hs each what would the recommended difficulty setting be for the pool?
160 or 768 or other?

Stupid question of the day and delete afterwards please
Can another entity attack a Bitcoin server like a ddos attack?
I would assume you monitor the packet data

What would the required minimum hash rate be to keep the herp from rolling back

I'm assuming this varies based on other factors

Is there a formula for this?

 Huh
47  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing GekkoScience's new USB stick miner, the aptly-named NewPac on: March 07, 2019, 04:57:31 PM
Just received my three NewPac's and the new Gekkoscience Hub

Arctic cooling USB fan added to the hub

All I can say is "WOW"

All put together along with the updated software from vh, painless as always

Running at stock speed and fast

Perfect combination of hardware Cheesy

I don't understand why the thread title says 0PH when its almost 10PH...
Very tongue in cheek, as I don't care to update it at regular intervals since it doesn't seem to have any influence on who mines how much here. Neither does zero fee it seems.

Time for a raise?

Seriously!

Effort should be rewarded......  Grin

Solo should go up a bit also  Cheesy

Hello Fellow Miners!

I have a technical question about miners and pools.

I have 10 miners- 2-T9's(11.5TH/s), 2-T9+'s(10.5TH/s) and 6-V9's(4TH/s), and on this site/pool, the only miners that seem to work correctly without H/W errors, a lot of "rejected" and :discarded" shares, and with in factory hash rates are the T9's. The T9+'s show R/T has as per factory hash rate, but only show 8.5-9.3TH/s hash rate on this site. The V9's get a lot of H/W errors as well as "rejected" and "discarded" shares, but, I get an accurate hash rate.
The V9's are fairly new and run at stock 600MHz, and I do not get ANY H/W errors on a few different pools( I won't mention names ).
The T9+'s are fairly new as well, and I do get some H/W errors, but not like the V9's.
The T9's I bought used, and seem to be the only one's that "agree" with this site.
All miners have the latest firmware, and are cleaned on a regular basis, so I don't think heat would be an issue. All miners use the same make/model of P/S, so I don't thing that is an issue.
So I guess my question would be: What is the issue with all the H/W errors only on this pool? And only on the V9's? ( Yes, they are Bitmain, so possibly I got some "defective" miners?)
Why do the T9+'s not show the correct hash rate?

So, if any one could shed a little light on my "technicial" issues, it would be greatly appreciated.

I've been mining about a year, and have been thru a lot of pools, and came across this one, and it seems like a pretty neat site. I've been following the banter between users and see how everyone seems to care about pretty much the same things. Not many pools seem to share the same views/values as the users here at CKPool.

To CK: Great work on the mining software(or any other software) you developed and maintain. You should get some recognition from whom ever uses your core software, period!

Excellent pool as well!

I have two V9's myself and killed one off during the recent heat wave
Same experience as yourself with other pools but I'm sure it's due to the build quality of these low cost Bitmain S7 wannabe's
I've found for CK's pools, 400Mhz produces no hardware errors and only 10 ~ 20% rejects
My original Gekkoscience gear runs "way" better, no issues
Put the V9's on CK's Solo pool, better served there at the lower frequency
Low cost but low quality, only my opinion

Anyone lose a hash board on one of these yet?

Lost one last night and no doubt due to the recent and ongoing heat

Not worth sending back to Bitmain as I have $175 into the machine

Options:
1) Leave it in unplugged, maintain air flow as designed
2) Remove and look for obvious sign of failure, bad cap, etc
3) Purchase new spare for $135 and keep for parts machine, fan's hash boards, etc

Being old tech in design, might be better to leave as is and let it run itself down
I don't have a rework station or other higher end gear/experience  so not an option either

This saved my bacon with a V9 today when my password no longer worked

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3314603.0

The timing noted for resetting is very important

My Antminer's IP changed also upon the reset

I'm assuming the reset button does work on some V9's, hopefully most

For users of V9's using Ck's pool and experiencing a high rejected share issue, was 30 ~ 50% here
Boot up your Antminer and let the pool set the diff which will be lower than 10k
Use the Antminer "Reboot" and reboot the miner without powering off
My rejected shares goes below 5% upon reboot
Any idea's as to why?   Huh
59  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [185PH] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool US/DE/CN on: July 24, 2018, 03:48:14 PM
As the pool hash grows, slower miners like myself can expect slower payouts

A given along with the growth of the overall network difficulty also

Still waiting for that 25TH/s indoor miner that runs on 200W also  Roll Eyes
