201  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: SCRYPT ASIC miner ready. BTC+LTC ASIC miner, 1THS(1000GHS) Bitcoin miner, 950W. on: February 23, 2014, 08:05:08 AM
does anyone have any more info on those 12mhs boxed units that where going to be released.
are those also overclockable and is there any pricing or release date known at this point?

finding info in this thread is a nightmare. the first post should be updated and kept up to date.

First batch (200 units) available for shipping in 3-4 weeks. Price $6650.

To give everyone a heads up. I am speaking to the same channels in china. Those 12mhs units are vapourware atm. Yes, a team is working on that, in a form factor of 2 blades like antminers i heard. Imo, they are at least 8-10 weeks away, which is more realistic. Think about it, these GS miners just started selling, so the company will milk at least a few months out of it before introducing another range. I don't know about the price either. I guess some people will believe it and pay for it in pre-order.

The 1TH btc unit is real. A couple of weeks away from selling but I have seen them run at 1.1th at 870w. Whether its good value depends on the final price.

I want to confirm that the product is real and I am hashing away at around 2.6kh - 2.8kh/s. I can take a picture if people need proof, now I'm waiting for the rest coming.

Yeh, they are real. See here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=476338.msg5252781#msg5252781

I have been hashing away from January 17th. They have their short-comings but it helps in certain situation. Like people who still mine from home and have maxed out their power circuits. And they run very cool. In Australia, where the last couple months my GPU rigs are subjected to 40+ degrees of heat. That solves my heat and thus stability problems.

How are we meant to contact tech support on these? I have seen others report having one of Jack's techs log into their controller to fix the restart problem they have. My controllers restart frequently, so the miners can never really get into a groove. I would like to get this fixed.

Lol tech support? Better off speaking to other forum members to address the issue you won't get help from asiabtc

Well I need to have one of his techs log into my controllers and change the setting that is causing them to restart every hour or so. Since we aren't given the login info for the controllers, I can't do it myself...but someone else said they had one of Jack's techs do it.

Can't you demand access to your own controller? I guess they have made custom software which they can protect. imo I prefer to have access to it rather than be slave to a closed loop system and unable to do anything custom. Much like apple ecosystem.

You say that the power plug is 5.5x2.1 but on the lightningasic website the mass of chinese text against the picture of the power cables ends with the number 2.5mm I would guess this is the power plug size?

Also the cable you show 8 into one does not look suitable, as it would need to carry 30 amps through the single plug to the power supply and I think that is way over the spec for those.

I believe it is the 2.5mm internal diameter. This not as common as the 2.1mm cctv ones. You need to buy what they call as 5.5x2.5mm pigtails.

They are not stable at all but I have had two units go above 500Kh for brief periods before crashing back to the 250-350 range. See here http://waffles.wilschrader.com/stats?address=15NCWjqCADxTVWdhM8rThdnQTXi6Fbcy19 for current hash of two Gridseed units.

How are your 5 minute averages? Waffle pool has set the difficulty at 512, and that has caused a lot of short-term variability. So, it might be the pool settings, and not your miners.

They are in the 275-325 range. You might be right about the 512 difficulty having an adverse effect. They are making about 0.0033BTC per day per miner on wafflepool. Any recommendation for a more profitable pool with a lower difficulty setting for these miners?

Were you told to setup a worker for each individual unit? That is recommended for maximum performance as each unit can request its own work load.

With these units from LightningAsic are you guys using wiibox.net?

Can anyone figure out how to get into the controller?  Is it possible to hook up via USB to the computer and access the filesystem somehow?

I've read that SSH is running on it but I belive only Jack has the password for it.

Get the ip address from the dhcp server and you can ssh into it using:

username: root
password: 123456

Those are the factory settings, so it may not be the same from LightningAsic if they have changed it.

After that you can install a sftp server for transferring files. This is really helpful when you want to make changes to the controller.

Code:
opkg update
opkg install openssh-sftp-server

I cannot tell if it should be 2.1mm/5.5mm, but a 2.5mm/5.5mm seems to fit fine for the beta models with the white button. Also, you may want to get a 12v 6a power supply for each unit because the 5a one I was sent gets really hot. I have a 12v 10a that I use instead. I should note that I am overclocking to 750 from 600 in cpuminer.

I ordered 5 miners without the controller, power supply, etc.

Can someone let me know what power supply, cabling I will need?  Appreciate the help.

You need a "12V,5A" power adapter.
Like this:

USB cable is just ok.

What are the measurement of the Plug ... 2.5mm - 5.5mm ?

It is definitely 2.5mm internal and 5.5mm external

Power connection summary:

Note: I received the PSU configured for 220 volts, and a power cord not compatible with my country. Fortunately, I have lots of extra power cables. Standard computer cables work fine.

1) Set the voltage switch on the side of the PSU to 110 or 220, depending upon your country (110 for USA).

There are 9 terminals on the PSU. They are number. From left to right, they are 1 through 9.
Terminals 7, 8, and 9 are Ground, N, and L, respectively

2) Cut the power cord and expose the wires. The wires are colored Green, White, and Black. The the USA, the Green is connected to the center terminal, the white to the wider terminal, and the black to the thinner terminal. Connect the wires to the PSU as follows:

Terminal #, Terminal Name, Wire Color, Purpose
7, Ground, Green, Grounds the outside of the case so your don't shock yourself.
8, N, White, Neutral - This is the return path of the electricity to ground.
9, L, Black, Line Voltage - This is the power from the power company.

The power cable for the miners has red and white wires. Red is connected to the inside of the terminal, and white to the outside. The power to the miners is DC, so direction matters.

Terminals 1, 2, and 3 supply +12 volts. They are all identical. As far as I can tell they are all interconnected, so it doesn't matter which ones you use.
Terminals 4, 5, and 6 are Ground. They are all identical. As far as I can tell they are all interconnected, so it doesn't matter which ones you use.

3) Connect the Red wire to terminal 1, 2, or 3. Connect the White wire to terminal 4, 5, or 6. Repeat for 5.
4) Do all of the above for the 2nd PSU

So if I understand you right, in the US it doesn't matter if I switch black/white wires around for this PSU?

It matters, but it works either way. With A/C power, the electrons go both ways so either way works. However, N or Neutral, is the return path to ground of the power. In theory, you will not get shocked if you touch that wire.

For safety purposes, devices are wired assuming that a specific wire is Neutral, and the other Line (live). It keeps that wire away from anything that you might come in contact with.

Here's a visual reference to hook up the AC and DC cables. There are 6 cables connected here. For 5 just leave one out:

SPECIFICATIONS (1 unit)

Dual Mode:
Hash = 5gh/s (SHA256) + 330kh/s (Scrypt)
Power Consumption = 60W

Single Mode:
Hash = 330kh/s (Scrypt)
Power Consumption = 7W ONLY!! (1/30 of display card)

Will run stable at over 400kh/s when overclocked!!

(Quote formatting edited slightly for readability.)

This can't be right.  Could you double check the performance figures, please? I don't think it's the same scrypt performance if you're running both scrypt and SHA256 at once.

Hi,

you are correct sir! It only does that in LTC mode only. I will amend it!

Howdy. will this have the new firmware where the miners will mine in 500-600 KHs. also have you tried to solomine ?

i'd be interested in 10 pack at $2400. will this come with everything i need plus shipping?

Correct, out of the box it is plug and play. I have used it with the controller and also have plugged 10 into my GPU.

My GPU rig runs 4 x 280x hashing about 720kh/s and cgminer running along with 10 instances of minerd in seperate command line boxes it doesn't break a sweat. Will no slow down the GPUs, i've tested it. And I only have 4g ram on those rig.

ps you can tell the hashing speed from the logs, it says 0.00k. So you can only get an estimate from the pool.

SETUP hashing 6.6mh/s!!

I don't now about those claiming 500kh/s or more. In my experience you can't get it. I won't believe it until I see it. You might get 400-500 reported in the pool in a short period of time, but that is not indicative of longer periods of hashing as the pool is only reporting accepted hashes which varies greatly in the short-time. In overclocked mode I can get ~400mh/s =)
