181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: temporarily invest in 2nd gen currency? on: February 14, 2014, 09:43:54 PM
Every time a new "altcoin" pops up and people invest in it, isnt it just one less dollar in BTC?  Isn't it hurting BTC?  Thats how I see it.  These alt coins are just slowly deflating the BTC market cap.

I started with a call from my friend "Hey dude, check out this Dogecoin. It's cryptocurrency and it's hilarious. Start mining it with me." My response: "What the hell is mining and what is cryptocurrency?"

Long story short, I had some fun with Doge and now I'm completely into Bitcoin. Alt currencies are gateway coins to the heavy stuff; Bitcoins.
182  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you see the price of BTC above $5000 by the end of 2014? on: February 14, 2014, 07:22:25 PM
$40,000 by the end of this year guaranteed

Would you like to bet some BTC on this?

184  Economy / Speculation / MtGox is implementing a fix for withdrawals. Price will go this way ^ on: February 14, 2014, 08:16:18 AM
No doubt that MtGox is probably going to shut down due to future trust issues that users have with them, but it looks like they'll be allowing withdrawals very soon.

So, buying now might be a fantastic idea. If you can stomach it (I can't), I hear MtGox has some cheap BTC  Grin
185  Economy / Speculation / Re: On volatility on: February 14, 2014, 08:01:04 AM
I've seen a lot of talk from people saying "This is the end". I disagree completely. While BTC has been around for a few years, this is just the beginning and the most exciting it's been to date.
186  Economy / Speculation / Re: On volatility on: February 14, 2014, 07:59:32 AM
Thank you for this, I was looking at the numbers myself but then my brain started to hurt.

It is my personal opinion that we'll see the bottom this weekend, and I see it bottoming out in the $450-475 range. Then, pending no other negative press for a bit, we'll be going back up considerably. Why considerably? Because big businesses that are watching this closely (google, walmart, etc) are going to take a look at Overstock and TigerDirect and see exactly how great of a decision they made to accept BTC. More positive press will come of this and once a massive player takes on BTC payments, I don't see much of anything stopping the upward momentum.
187  Economy / Speculation / Re: What happens if this was the bottom? on: February 14, 2014, 06:57:42 AM
188  Economy / Speculation / Re: I see an upward trend.. @$600 - Did we hit bottom? on: February 13, 2014, 10:26:56 PM
I see trends going up... We'll really find out in a few day's, but it looks like we've hit bottom and I see more purchases and trends upward!

Give it until the weekend. It'll go lower.

Am I missing something here? The coins are still there...

Yes, those are the Silk Road coins seized by the FBI.  This guy is talking about Silk Road 2.

Ah ok, that makes more sense. Thanks.

191  Economy / Speculation / Re: And the Downfall continues on: February 13, 2014, 09:21:20 AM
Prices are stabilizing in BTC-E and Bitstamp. Soon they will go back to the $1,000 level.

those sites are being attacked - hard to make a trade

Don't these a$$holes have anything better to do?
192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoin are you holding? on: February 13, 2014, 08:54:35 AM
I'll have a bitcoin or two once people donate them to me  Wink
193  Economy / Speculation / Re: And the Downfall continues on: February 13, 2014, 08:37:58 AM
BTC isn't going to drop to $100. It's holding steady at $650. Sure it might drop sub-500 over the weekend but I feel that's it until it starts going back up. So long story short, buy buy buy in the 500's  Grin
194  Economy / Gambling / Re: **50/50 RAFFLE** Help my friends mother who has breast cancer on: February 13, 2014, 05:30:42 AM
Even if I gave her name, how would anyone be able to find out? That's why I'm more than happy to provide any and all information to a mod to verify. I just don't personally feel comfortable giving out personal information of a friend. But going through a mod, I feel that would be fair.
195  Economy / Gambling / Re: **RAFFLE** WIN UP TO 2 BTC!! Help my friends mother who has breast cancer on: February 13, 2014, 05:14:39 AM
A raffle for 20% or less of the prize pool is pretty worthless as a raffle.  Why don't you just post her name and what hospital she's at and we can donate directly?

You know, you're right. It's been changed to a 50/50 raffle.
196  Economy / Gambling / Re: **RAFFLE** WIN UP TO 2 BTC!! Help my friends mother who has breast cancer on: February 13, 2014, 05:01:42 AM

If say 4 BTC worth were contributed, the odds of winning the price of .8 BTC are 1 in 40. I see those are pretty good odds of turning .1 into .8! And more importantly if it reaches 8 BTC, the odds of winning 2 BTC would be 1 in 80.

Regarding donating directly, I'd like to keep some privacy for her. We are holding a local fundraiser at a bowling alley, but that's much different than posting personal info on the internet.
197  Economy / Gambling / **50/50 RAFFLE** Help my friends mother who has breast cancer on: February 13, 2014, 04:19:01 AM
Hi all! Before I get started, I am rather new to this forum and am more than willing to verify my identity to an admin. This is in no way a scam, it's a way for me to help raise funds for the following situation:

My friend Melissa and I have been close since grade school. She had her first child a few weeks ago. Herself and her family mean the world to me. At the same time, her wonderful Mother found out that she has breast cancer and that it has already spread. She has numerous surgeries coming up, as well as radiation treatment. She did not have health insurance through her employer, but was able to receive emergency Medicaid. However, this does not cover everything, and she will be out of work for months.

This is my attempt to raise funds to make her life a little easier through this difficult time.

RAFFLE/FUNDRAISER

50/50 RAFFLE! I realized the above is a little silly. I'm making this a simple 50/50 raffle  Smiley

199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / COINS-E.COM What is their deal? No support whatsoever... on: January 12, 2014, 01:31:00 AM
I've had a ticket in for a week because I cannot access my account due to a Google 2-Step Authentication issue. I'm seeing a lot of people waiting for support ticket responses and everyone is in the same boat. Coins-e gives no other way to contact them.

Does anyone know of another way to get their attention? It's pretty horrible customer service.
200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware of Coins-E - they are stealing coins from the users on: January 06, 2014, 10:24:00 PM
Why is coins_e so difficult to get a hold of? I have a ticket that is also past the mark they say they'll respond...
