1281  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Gigabyte WF3 7950 on: October 09, 2013, 01:10:44 PM
My advice is to not run these cards above 1000 mV

You should be well into the triple or quadruple digit MH/s with a GPU

BLAKE has higher throughput than SHA256 if I'm remembering correctly
1283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPCoin Proof of Stake Minting Setup Guide on: October 09, 2013, 02:13:26 AM
^^ It's easiest to just unlock your wallet every 90 days, the blocks solve almost instantly and you make the same interest..
1284  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: October 08, 2013, 04:47:47 PM
Now that knc is shipping, have you guys figured out pricing for November?  Well there be specific discounts from previous customers, as with ASICminer USB miners?
1285  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC on fire ! on: October 08, 2013, 02:11:48 AM
Just an FYI, these are the things you'll wanna slap a heatsink on:

You can tell them by the three prongs at one even if you don't know anything about PC hardware

Each of these chips is pulling 180 W from my quick and dirty calculation, it's likely that the MOSFETs NEED to be cooled at that level of draw

Can someone who owns one of these please tell me how many phases they are using?  They should be using no less than 4 (you can tell by the number of MOSFETs/chokes), with a more solid design being 6-8
1286  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Hashfast ROI on: October 08, 2013, 02:09:53 AM
It depends on what your opinion is on how the difficulty curve will progress, but in my calculations if HashFast delivers on time, it will ROI.

I tend to agree, if i got it today it would roi in under a month.

Even if it took 6-12mths, it's still far better than any other investment.

Just looking for alternate perspectives in case i've missed something.

Well, the terms of sale says you can't hold them viable for virtually anything and that they'll deliver them by Q1 2014 at the latest.  If they do take this long, it'll be bad for the buyers.
1287  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC on fire ! on: October 08, 2013, 02:08:32 AM
Okay so for those of us who still have stuff on order or have recently received anything - IS THIS A PROBLEM?Huh  I saw a guy on IRC who said "use VRM heatsinks"  that will prevent the problem altogether by reducing heat output ~20%.  Is that true?  Will this postpone orders going forward?  I'd be willing to wait if it means being sure my house will not catch on fire.  I'm not saying it will or that this is bound to happen (I'm still hoping that this was a freak occurence Human error based incident)  [not human error as a result of bad engineering].

Just looking for answers.

It's an extra $5-10, there's no reason not to

If your MOSFETs are running hot it means fluctuations in voltage over time to the chip and the rest of the hardware, which will eventually destroy it.  Gigabyte's old 7950s had insufficient VRM cooling and a 100% failure rate for me within 12 months (mining LTC 24/7, with the VRMs running 80-100C); the GPU cores themselves were running in the 60-70s

Congrats to KnC

Bring those miners over to the PPC network and make me some cash Wink
1289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: *SCRYPT FPGA* - CryptoIndustries.com - official Bitcointalk thread on: October 02, 2013, 01:05:01 AM
Why not port immediately to ASIC?  I'm sure you could raise the venture capital.  You could also just patent your design and sell it to one of the other large ASIC companies.
1290  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: October 01, 2013, 02:16:13 AM
Of course we are watching the KnC situation.  If there's anything to announce there, I'll surely do so.

Sweet!  If KnC starts shipping like crazy, I'll gladly buy another Bitfury device if you guys drop the prices to match their product.
1291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 01, 2013, 02:08:47 AM
So far we've only seen a prototype...  Bitfury still took a few weeks from the prototype boards to mass production boards, so I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see en masse shipping for a little while.  It'll be interesting to see how fast KnC gets these out, I'm always dubious until I see people on the forum getting their products.

If they do begin shipping massive quantities immediately, I'm really curious if they'll pull an "Avalon" and crank the price of their devices once they realize demand is outstripping supply.

Mostly I'm happy to see competition -- because the customers will be the ones winning in the end once these companies start trying to murder each other in sales.

1295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will ASIC adoption bring PPC to the forefront of alt currency? on: September 28, 2013, 05:48:04 PM
By the looks of it, PPC just may achieve that.  I think purchasers have more confidence in a market they can manipulate themselves by simply adding more ASICs to the network.
1296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm sad to say it but the Litecoin pipedream is over. on: September 27, 2013, 10:16:38 PM
Coblee is on the coinbase team now, and it's his cryptocurrency.  I'm guessing it's only a matter of time before it hits there.

Everyone knows that PPC is going to explode before then, though, because PPC block reward is expected to dive below 50 with the introduction of ASICs.  Hence the recent shift in the market towards PPC.

1298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPC stake mining, Worth it. on: September 26, 2013, 11:05:47 PM
I keep a a copy of my wallet unencrypted with external encryption as well as an encrypted copy.  Every 90 days (when PoS peaks and can't get any larger in terms of coinage opportunity) I decrypt the unencrypted wallet and generate some PPC.  The inflation rate for PPC is 1% or about 0.25% per 90 days.
1299  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: September 23, 2013, 07:19:53 PM
I just received mine today!...but i paid $111 custom fees Embarrassed
need to start running it....

To Canada?  They have to mark them as "prototype sample PCB" or usually you'll have to pay fees

Well, obviously we plan to include this in MC2. I'm still looking for an exchange to do the funding for development.
