1121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MC2 ("Netcoin"): A cryptocurrency based on a hybrid PoW/PoS system on: November 17, 2013, 05:08:26 AM
What's does the pool funding entail? I thought that we were raising funds through a crowd funding platform. Furthermore, does this mean we have a potential developer willing to sign on?

Thanks!

We're still figuring out the role of crowdsourcing in the funding -- if we can source this without having to crowdfund and simply checkpoint and validate all blocks for the period where we wait for submitted tickets to mature, we will do so as people would consider this the more "fair" method.

We're hopeful at this point that we have secured our lead dev, and it is someone who knows the Bitcoin backend extremely well.

I don't want to make guarantees on this, but we're trying our best to really get things moving with this alt chain.
1122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MC2 ("Netcoin"): A cryptocurrency based on a hybrid PoW/PoS system on: November 16, 2013, 09:55:44 PM
It appears that we have obtained a pool of prospective funding and we hope that development will begin in Dec or Jan.

We're also playing around with some ideas for other things to use the blockchain for -- I'm pretty sure I have a way to create an embedded, decentralized marketplace system within the blockchain whose relay to clients is optional.
1123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Explain Protoshares to me like I am 5 years old on: November 16, 2013, 04:54:12 AM
Protoshares is a rapidly deflationary cryptocurrency based on a newer PoW called momentum.  It's designed so that the meaningful output of the currency by mining to the end users is in months rather than years.  The developer argued that despite this (a rapidly deflationary supply system) killing a lot of other alt currencies, in the case of ProtoShares this will be okay because eventually ProtoShares will become BitShares, something which the economist cunicula claims is a giant scam.

This is baffling logic.  You are asking, "I'd like to see one Coca Cola drinker say something good about the drink who doesn't support Coca Cola."
1125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: litecoin dead ? on: November 15, 2013, 07:06:51 PM
is not like I agree with everything because half of what have been said there doesn't make sense , but from now and on lets turn it personal because "this how you like it". LTC is the coin after BTC in all matters Wink
I've been objective

The general public would love the name 'Goldcoin'. They are the big prize in this game. Remember VHS/Betamax and 3dfx(16 bit)/Nvidia(32 bit). Perception matters.

VHS versus betamax is a terrible example.  The loss of sony to win that format war had everything to do with poor market research and licensing decisions.
1127  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast launches sales of the Baby Jet on: November 15, 2013, 04:45:47 AM
I got to admit I'm a little baffled that HashFast has stopped talking to me.

Oh, and going back to physically stabilizing the cards, did anyone else think to use the mount-holes on the H-cards to bind them together using bolts, dowels, or something similar?  I imagine it would be quite tedious to set up and you would want to make sure the cards where working well first...

packing peanuts are still running strong, as has my device for the last 48h

I don't see any real reason for litecoin to have a market cap of 1 billion.

Idk, the market cap of btc is either grossly inflated or ltc is undervalued
http://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/marketcap-btc-ltc.html

You looking at the same chart as me? Prior to the April hype bubble for LTC it generally had a money supply worth 1/200th to 1/300th of Bitcoin.  Today it is 1/40th.

Nice link though.

I was on my phone so it was difficult to see in detail, but yeah, I'd say things are improving for LTC now that I have a good look.
1130  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: I predict a lot of strain on the Bitcoin network soon due to Mastercoin on: November 14, 2013, 11:03:15 PM
My thoughts are that Mastercoin will likely destroy itself by pushing the network fees for transactions up until no one wishes to make any Mastercoin related transactions due to the price associated with them.

This will be an especially big problem as soon as people begin forking Mastercoin en masse.

Sounds like a self correcting problem.   The solution is a merge mined separate chain. If MC does implode under its own created tx "spam" then hopefully the outcome will encourage others that follow to a better solution.

Agreed -- and probably we will see that soon enough.

The unfortunate fact is that as more and more actual transactions to exchange bitcoins go on, eventually there's going to be less and less room on the blockchain for Mastercoin.  It's a system with planned obsolescence.

Litecoin is about to go past the $100 mln. market cap milestone this week on its way to $1 bln. that's one lively puppy, keep it up, puppy! Smiley

$1 billion?

Maybe when a tomato can is selling for like $500.  Notice Litecoin keeps going lower and lower against Bitcoin which is what counts given the dollar is in its death throws.

Litecoin is about to add another decimal just like I said last week, when we were at .015000, when everyone was screaming about the huge comeback.

Bhahahahhahaaaa.

Seriously?  Lol, do you know how funny that sounds?

It's like saying.  I don't know, the chart of Bitcoin is way over inflated or the price of tacos at taco time are way undervalued.

For what does Litecoin have to do with Bitcoin?

NOTHING.

2 separate entities - totally unrelated.

It's like they're both not two cryptocurrencies with supply based on a lottery system and a geometric series

Oh wait

I haven't heard back from HashFast since I last reported to you guys, so no news for now.
1135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BOYCOTT all businesses associated to Alex Waters, Matt Mellon, and Yifu Guo! on: November 14, 2013, 03:15:07 AM
No one is going to use a version of the blockchain that is easily tracked, so they will just spur on zerocoin adoption in the main client.

They're welcome to lose money trying to do so.

Solved some cards shutting off by jamming a single packing peanut between each h card.  Now my rig is officially ghetto rigged snd I fear my house will burn down, but I'm getting 350 gh/s for 10 h cards

Xian, turn down the voltage by turning the trimpots to the left on those cards
1140  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: November 11, 2013, 10:41:09 PM
Huh Hi guys I have this card that keeps going to 0GH/s. I already used the last slot for a card with high miso error count. Any idea what procedure I should be following to get my rig working at 100% reliably?

You need to turn the voltage down, scroll back a few pages to see how to adjust the trimpots
