61  Economy / Gambling / Re: [ANN] MooCoin - Play for a Bit | Faucet | Skill-based gaming | Referral network on: February 07, 2014, 09:13:46 PM
It's Happy Hour!  Come play for the next two hours with a 10x faucet and zero fees for all games!

As long as you see the red Happy Hour badge at the top of MooCoin, it's go time!

Is this something that might be coming and going randomly, or at certain times each day, or maybe never again? Smiley  interested but with no one there it was pretty lame (no offense, just because no one was there).

Happy hour is every day from 5pm-7pm Pacific.  That's 01:00 to 03:00 UTC.

The busiest time on the site is between 4pm-6pm Pacific (00:00 to 02:00 UTC)

I totally agree.  We need more players on the site.  It's the biggest challenge we have - to get people to come play so there are always games available.  We put the bots online, but that's not as much fun.  The real problem isn't the number of people online, but that no one wants to create a game (only join them).  We have some changes in the works that should help.

Thanks for playing!

62  Other / Beginners & Help / Fun way to get started with bitcoins (and get some for free) on: February 07, 2014, 09:08:35 PM
I thought this would be a cool way for beginners to get started with Bitcoin:
I created a site called MooCoin that gives you a small amount of bitcoins for free, then lets you play games with them against other people.  Whoever wins the game gets the other person's bitcoins.  When you run out of bitcoins, we give you more to play with.  It's completely free to play, so there's no risk to you.  You don't even need to signup or create an account.
If you win enough games to get up to .00015 bitcoins, you can cash out to your own wallet.

It shows how easy it is to move bitcoins around in the system.  You could never do something like this with real money.
Each player also gets a personalized address where they can send their own bitcoins if you want to play games for higher amounts than we give you.

Check it out:

Thanks,
MooCoin
63  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Development] An opensource framework to build bitcoin based games on: February 07, 2014, 08:59:03 PM
We built something like this.  The API and dev platform is still in it's infancy, but we're waiting for a developer to sign up to create a game before solidifying more in the API.  We've already built two games on our own platform.

Here's how we built it:
The developer provides a package with server and client modules.  The server is in node.js.  We make a couple of calls into the developers code:
startGame(playerOne, playerTwo, wager, ...)
makeMove(playerId, moveData)
playerTimedOut(playerId)
etc.

We also provide an API for the dev to call:
winGame(winningPlayer, losingPlayer)
drawGame()
updateClients(gameData)
etc.

That handles the server logic and the developer doesn't need to worry about bitcoin transactions, security, hosting, operations, database, etc.  The games files tend to be very focused on the game rules because we handle everything else.

On the client side, the dev provides .html, .css, and .js.
We dynamically load the html, js and css and place it in the "game area" of our page.  We call into the .js with startGame, timeoutTick, updateGame, etc.
We also provide an API on the client side for communicating back to the server.

That's pretty much it.  We share 40% of the revenue a game makes back with the developer.  VERY fair considering the amount of work needed to make a new game on the platform vs. the amount of work we spent creating it, securing it, serving it, operating it, etc.

Check out the site at https://www.moocoin.com to see the two games we already created.  We have a third game on the way, too.
If you want to build something on the platform, or if you just need help getting this project off the ground, let us know.

Thanks,
MooCoin

another question..

It's good to update blockchain by the file: bootstrap.dat?

Then I can auto-update anytime normally??

I have find a torrent With a bootstrap dimension of 13.2 GB::

Downloading the blockchain from a torrent is faster than over the bitcoin network.  You typically only have to do it once, then the client will update from the network as needed in smaller pieces.

69  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Price difference between Bitstamp and MTGOX. on: February 05, 2014, 02:48:53 AM
Gox is artificially high because everyone there is selling, driving the price up.
Why are they selling? Because Gox has essentially infinite delays when withdrawing fiat.

Come check out MooCoin.  You play games against other players.  All of the games involve some luck, and some skill or strategy.  Hi-Lo is especially strategic.  We're working on new games all the time.

The best part?
- Free faucet so you can play with our money.
- No rake for wagers under .0001 btc.
- 10x faucet payouts and no rake during Happy Hour (5-7pm, Pacific.  1-3am UTC).

Hey!  It happens to be happy hour right now!

Looking for more ways to make money?
- Refer people to get 10% of the rake we collect.
- If you're a developer and create a game on our platform, we'll give you 40% of the revenue it generates.

Introducing MooCoin Happy Hour!

Every day between 5pm and 7pm Pacific (01:00 and 03:00 UTC), MooCoin goes into Happy Hour mode!
Two cool things happen when it's happy hour:
1)  The faucet gives away 10x per use.
2)  There are no fees on any games, regardless of the wager amount.

We also made a change to the HiLo bot so he plays according to established rules.  This should make him a bit more challenging and prevent weird bot decisions that result in bad beats for the players.

There's about an hour left of today's Happy Hour.  Come check it out!
Thanks,
MooCoin

79  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Free website designed to send you freebitco.in referrals - V1 is LIVE! on: February 01, 2014, 07:48:36 PM
I like the idea.
MooCoin has a referral program and would love the traffic.
Just go to https://www.moocoin.com and scroll down to get your referral link.  We also have banners for referral programs if that helps.  It sounds like this is a "banner-less" program, but if you have a "central" homepage showing all referrers, you can use these:

We've released some banner images if people want to add them as referral links on their sites and collet 10% of all fees paid by players they refer.
