https://github.com/kanoi/cgminerEdit: it does no mutex locking access to the cpu/gpu/pool info since it would appear that is OK (the current code doesn't appear to do that either) ckolivas - does that sound correct to you? Just getting the info should be safe, if done after everything is set up and all the threads started.

Goddamnit that's the sum total of how much I've earned in donations in total for cgminer I increased my donation %. That's just crazy, cgminer is worth more than that. Thanking you very much. Just for the record, I just checked and the sum total of hashes from all --donation are currently running at 100 Mhash. It usually hovers between 100-200. Note that I intentionally made the percentage err on the conservative side, and it will virtually always be less than what you set it to since I didn't want complaints.

I recently updated my nVidia drivers to 285.62. Starting cgminer 2.0.8 and 2.0.6 causes the driver to fail, stop drawing the desktop and restart the gpu/rendering. Had no problems in previous driver releases. Command line and flags remained the same between drivers. Any ideas?
Running Win 7 x64 on AMD Phenom 9750 with nVidia GeForce 9600 GT gpu.
No idea. Nothing has changed in a very long time at that level.

That is ridiculous, well you have a couple of more now. Thanks btw

I'd be happy to pull any code that is done in a satisfactory generalised manner into the main branch.
Since you are in the thread, would you be willing to do the work? If not, what would it take to entice you enough? IMHO if this work is done, cgminer will be able to spread like a weed and become the default miner throughout the land. The bounty certainly is attractive, but it can't make me find the time to do it, and I have no experience with that sort of code. Then again, I also had no experience with bitcoin mining, opencl code, overclocking, curses.... so anything's possible. My willingness to dedicate time is the hardest thing to win over right now. When I did cgminer I had a personal sabbatical with time off work and used the project as part of my need for programming expression. I have not the time now, so I'm not sure if there is much that would make me want to. Bear in mind that even 100 BTC is less than 300 bucks and think how much real contract work pays. I like taking BTC as a concept, and encouraging BTC trade through doing so, but I'm not earning any real money at these prices.

can you strip miner code from cgminer, auto-over/under/clocking and fan management looks useful for gaming
Anything's possible, but this would take time and effort, and neither of these come freely.

I started a new thread to keep RPC bounty project talk contained and create some dialog with potential developers. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=52466gigavps & tnkflx is you could indicate your pledges by posting in that thread I will update the first post to reflect it. I'm happy to merge any code that comes as a result of this push into the main cgminer releases provided the code is done in a satisfactory and generalised manner.

Goddamnit that's the sum total of how much I've earned in donations in total for cgminer I'll have to think about it since I don't have the free time I did when I worked on cgminer to begin with.

I have a request to be made into a future version: When starting CGMiner with --auto-fan --auto-gpu it seems to spin the fans up to the threshold (85%) and then work down from there...sometimes going from 15% RPM -> 85% RPM instantly. This may/can cause issues with certain fans on boards I would think. Would it be possible that when starting CGMiner, it will start spinning fans up from current RPM/% to the max/desired ? This would help because the fans don't need to spin up to that speed right away No. I cannot. Everyone has their own interpretation of what is "correct behaviour". As per the FAQ in the readme, the defaults are the safest. Imagine you restarted something instantly and the GPU was already at max temperature.

Who requested? ckolivas already makes a windows build.
He's offering 64 bit builds, which every once in a while someone requests. Of course there is no point to them over the 32 bit builds I provide unless you're CPU mining.

Good news guys. I just tried upgrading to the ATI 11.11 driver on linux and the CPU usage bug is finally fixed, AND it works with newer xorg 1.11 (in case you're on a very recent distribution, like Archlinux).
How many GPUs? 1 GPU has been fixed since 11.9 2+ GPU was unfixed as of 11.10 If 2+ GPU work in 11.11 that is awesome. Even 1 GPU was NOT fixed for many of us on either 11.9 or 11.10. 11.11 fixes CPU usage for any number of GPUS for me.

Great! (can't wait for it to hit debian testing ) With recent versions I've had a huge performance hit when using KDE's 3D capabilities even when not mining. Has that also been fixed, do you know? Well I'm on KDE and it's much more fluid than it was with catalyst 11.10. So that would be a yes as well.

What do you mean by just run it? is there an executable file in there that will auto install?
There is an executable file in there you can run directly. tar xf cgminer-2.0.7-x86_64-built.tar.bz2 cd cgminer-2.0.7 ./cgminer

You're going way over his head. He just wants a binary that works. Linuxcoin is built on an older ubuntu than the 2.0.8 package is. For now you will have much more luck with linuxcoin and the 2.0.7 binary which was built for an older ubuntu linux. http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/cgminer-2.0.7-x86_64-built.tar.bz2You don't need to configure or build anything, just run it.

I kept one machine on ubuntu but I cannot keep it on the older version forever. The binaries are for Ubuntu 11.10, as the top post says.
