Well that was some unexpected humour from the bitcoin mining crowd. I grinned Cheesy I guess the improving price of BTC has improved people's moods.

2.0.9 was a development version number only, and yes the minor version upgrade (as opposed to micro version) signifies the feature upgrade to the RPC API.

If you pulled from git and are still getting version 2.0.9 it's because you didn't do ./autogen.sh

As for windows, as I said I've thrown it in the debugger heaps of times and the bug goes away in it so it's proving undebuggable (a Heisenbug). (I do believe it's some windows versions only). So you're out of luck unless you wish to run cgminer without the curses display (i.e. start it with -T).

In Windows (x32 & x64) Mixed card Rigs (ie. 5770 + 5830) will fail startup if using CGMIner to overclock......it simply won't build the new BIN files to startup, only the fist card will work.

Remove overclocks, startup ONCE, builds new BIN files for all cards/chipsets, then quit, re-apply overclock and it will work as per normal.
Yes, I've never been able to figure out why it fails to build bin files reliably on windows. Certainly starting without overclock might be helpful, but no workaround seems 100%. If all else fails, copying the bin files from a previous install will work as none of the kernel code has changed in quite a long time. That will likely change (i.e. new kernel) with the new 2.6 SDK and 79xx cards in the future.

I don't see my changes to the write_config code.
Did you decide they weren't safe for other users?
I figured reading values from the ADL was fraught with problems, sorry.

Hi Con,

Seems like "Q" is broken on Windows, CGMINER won't exit after I press it.

Dia
That's right, Windows is broken. Running it under the debugger the problem goes away, therefore it's impossible to debug. Ergo, use linux or just kill it when you exit if you must use windows.
10705  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER miner overclock monitor fanspeed RPC in C linux/windows/osx 2.1.0 on: December 27, 2011, 10:12:45 AM
Sad to report but new version of cgminer doesn't work on windows x64. I get this "--auto-gpu: unrecognized option". I get another "unrecognized option" at start upon removing --auto-gpu.
Redownload. I uploaded an incomplete build only at first.

New version 2.1.0! Links in top post Cheesy

Version 2.1.0 - December 27, 2012

- Major infrastructure upgrade with RPC interface for controlling via sockets
encoded with/without JSON courtesy of Andrew Smith. Added documentation for
use of the API and sample code to use with it.
- Updated linux-usb-cgminer document.
- Rewrite of longpoll mechanism to choose the current pool wherever possible to
use for the longpoll, or any pool that supports longpoll if the current one
does not.
- Display information about longpoll when the chosen server has changed.
- Fix the bug where longpoll generated work may have been sent back to the
wrong pool, causing rejects.
- Fix a few race conditions on closing cgminer which caused some of the crashes
on exit.
- Only adjust gpu engine speed in autotune mode if the gpu is currently at the
performance level of that being adjusted.
- Various fixes for parsing/writing of configuration files.
- Do not add blank lines for threads of unused CPUs.
- Show which pool is unresponsive on startup.
- Only show GPU management menu item if GPUs are in use.
- Align most device columns in the curses display.

Okay great.

Preparing for a landing for a new release at last. Just ironing out the windows build problems that inevitably show up at the last minute.

If someone wants to pull the  master tree and check the formatting now please? My main rig just blew a mobo so I can't even check the GPU output Tongue

I'll see what I can do  Lips sealed

Sigh. I fucking hate formatting shit...
Trademark of a true kernel dev!

(that's a compliment)
Hah, true. I love infrastructure. I hate parsing and formatting.

Don't forget some GPUs don't report fan speed in RPM and then it will show %. And when there's less chars it will show zeroes unless the outputting code gets much funkier.

Code:
GPU 0:  073.0C 3858RPM | 026.7/026.1Mh/s | A:683 R:6 HW:0 U:4.83/m I:9
GPU 1:  077.0C 0099%   | 328.8/327.4Mh/s | A:631 R:4 HW:0 U:4.46/m I:9

How about if I don't like the extra spaces?

Are you asking as developer or user?
Doesn't really matter, but I am both and don't really want to pull rank over this...
Though I guess if the vast majority of users want it, then I should probably use that as a sign. That doesn't mean I've concluded that I'll do it.

Sigh. I fucking hate formatting shit...

gnar1ta$ has paid 5 BTC + 5 extra for general cgminer dev. Therefore 10/30 of this bounty has been paid, thanks.

Spacing of even values that do exist is not exactly fixed width... Imposing a fixed width one way or another will just lead to other formatting issues :\

The output I happen to be looking at is in a fixed-width font.  This is likely user-selectable in most if not all cases.  If the output were designed for a monospace font and a one-line note to that effect placed in the user doc, what other formatting issues would ensue?
RPM goes from 1 to 4 maybe 5 characters. Temp goes from 4 to 5, Mhash goes from 3 to (7?), accepted/rejects goes from 1 char to 5, 6, 7 or...

It's a never ending battle to try and find some compromise.

I was wondering lately why my 6670 had a stale rate of nearly 10%. I switched the pool (nr 1 in poollist) and everything was fine for that card. Did the same on my other rig but out of nowhere i had stale rates up to 8% ! How was that possible ? I read then a post from p4man. It turned out that both times i had this, the pool i was mining to was not first in the poollist. Can someone else confirm this ?

Confirmed. Though not as dramatic as your results, for me stales go from ~0.15 % to 10x more when I am mining on a pool that is not #1 in the list.

Moreover, with failover enabled it seems cgminer sends ~5% of my hashing power to my failover pool, even though the primary pool is not ever down. Seems to be related to long polling, each time there is a new block I see cgminer submitting a few shares to the backup pool. Is there a reason for that?
The rise in rejects after a longpoll appears to be a bug afterall. I believe I've fixed this in my git tree.
10719  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER CPU/GPU miner overclock monitor fanspeed in C linux/windows/osx 2.0.8 on: December 26, 2011, 10:28:04 PM
If it takes longer than 15 seconds to get a result when you first try to connect it will say down. However cgminer tries to check when a pool comes back and will recover it automatically if possible.

OK.  For some reason I get the same thing on three or four consecutive starts of cgminer recently.

It might be useful to have pool ID or URL with the message.
Good idea.

[2011-12-26 13:48:01] Started cgminer 2.0.8
[2011-12-26 13:48:17] Pool down, URL or credentials invalid
[2011-12-26 13:48:17] Long-polling activated for http://us.eclipsemc.com:9009/LP
[2011-12-26 13:48:21] Accepted 00000000.e4ed299d.2a614929 GPU 4 thread 4 pool 0

but a couple of seconds later in response to the P command:

0: Enabled Alive Priority 0: http://us.eclipsemc.com:9009  User:Redacted_0
1: Enabled Alive Priority 1: http://us.eclipsemc.com:8337  User:Redacted_1
2: Enabled Alive Priority 2: http://192.168.168.103:8332  User:brec

I have only those three pools in my cgminer.conf along with:
"failover-only" : true,

Why would I be geting the "Pool down, ..." message?
