81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TAU:The Active Unit | The First Proof-Of-Transaction Coin [POT] on: November 01, 2018, 01:15:33 PM
Things are certainly getting interesting now. With the announcement of Taunopoly and the mobile mining focus, this will surely be a project on everyones radar in the next few weeks
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Marlin Protocol | Network Layer Privacy and Scalability Solution for Blockchains on: November 01, 2018, 01:14:16 PM
It would be better to take (buy or forge cooperation) an already existing and practically operating blockchain project and make corresponding changes in it that significantly improve its attractiveness.

That's one of the areas we are seeing the most interest in. It's going to be hard to choose which blockchain to partner with first as its important to have a partner that can exemplify the quality we are looking for.

There are a number of projects we've heard pitches from. Do any come to mind that feel like a good fit?
83  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [FREE] Design Service for the first 3 requesters - Expanding Service offering on: November 01, 2018, 01:08:49 PM
Giving a nudge to see if this is interesting to anyone - literally free design services - but only for the first 3 responders
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Crypto-marketing died because of Bounties on: October 30, 2018, 06:37:22 AM
So it looks like almost all crypto marketing services in the BTT world are Bounty focused.

Community Management is pretty worthless without a community -- and not many are really running a successful community growth operation without a Bounty.

Now - investors are starting to share that they will NOT get involved in ICOs or projects that are using bounties as a means of community growth because it almost always leads to a heavy southeast asia group that has no intentions of buying and looking to dump the airdrop/bounty coins at the first second they get.

The more established crypto marketing groups are still only offering PR services at ridiculously high prices, along with their "miracle growth" processes for 100k telegram users in 3 days. And people swear its organic. LOL

Where are the other options? Why dont we see better/more affordable email campaigns?

I feel like the bounty way of working has stolen a lot of innovation and substituted rocket growth for organic growth

My group succeeds because we specifically DONT focus on bounties as a growth strategy.

We need to collectively focus on quality and education marketing or the entire industry will continue to have this negative stigma associated with get-rich-quick schemes

So my group, ConstantInnovations.com, has seen quite alot of success in the last 6 months and we decided to expand our services to Design!

In celebration of our new service -- we are excited to offer 3 unique projects the chance at having one of the following services done -- free of charge!

All we ask in return is for you to let people know that we created it for you and to give share your honest feedback of how it was to work with me and my team

What we are offering for the first 3 unique projects for free is one of the following:

-Signature for Sig campaigns
-Logo
-Banners

The projects that respond must have:

A telegram group of at least 50 people

87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Privacy/Anonymity Solution in Network Layer and Token Integration on: October 28, 2018, 08:22:35 AM
We are in the wild west where every start-up popping everywhere. Most are shits - few are gold.
I've come to a conclusion that aside from being decentralized, the most important part of blockchain innovation is anonymity/privacy not just in the platform but also in the token integration itself.

Few of this start-up have a full privacy in product but the token incentives doesn't have privacy itself.

Some of the potential candidates includes, Marlin Protocol (https://www.marlin.pro/#) , NKN (https://nkn.org/) and Mainframe (https://mainframe.com/)

Pros and Cons;

Marlin
Pros; anonymous network layer, fully decentralized, run in masternode, fully token integration anonymity, highly scalable.
Cons; No specified blockchain yet

NKN;
Pros; Proof-or-relay, decentralized, own blockchain (testnet phase),
Cons; Token is traceable, not focus on privacy (more on connectivity)

Mainframe;
Pros; Decentralized App (messaging)
Cons; Token integration is easy to trace.

Conclusion; Marlin is has the complete package of what is complete privacy/anonymity should be. The rest is working on their forte and not in totality.

Any additional information can be discussed below.

The scalability portion of Marlin's solution hasn't really been shared yet, and it might be the most exciting. By combining Cut through, Wormhole switching, Minimizing Hops, Compact Hash, and FEC -- we could see blockchains scaling with 500X throughput. This isn't a pipedream either -- this is reality
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Marlin Protocol | Network Layer Privacy and Scalability Solution for Blockchains on: October 25, 2018, 03:57:14 AM
From what I had picture out in mind of this so called new project this will highly rely on network maker or masternode.
Overlay network layer is interesting when embodied with privacy. Is this some kind of disruption of some big content provider like netflix or youtube?

The disruption is at the network layer -- P2P communications have not been designed with the decentralized systems of today in mind. Netflix is a good example of one of the areas this disruption will be felt. Today, Netflix has a huge AWS bill. With Marlin, the same infrastructure can be replicated at a fraction of the cost
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Marlin Protocol | Network Layer Privacy and Scalability Solution for Blockchains on: October 25, 2018, 03:55:05 AM
Monero enhances anonymity thru Opaque Blockchain, how does Marlin enhance its complete anonymity on top of the network layer?

Marlin is not a solution for transaction layer anonymity, but its a good thing you bring up Monero. As things are today, Monero still is vulnerable at the network layer, with the Kovri project still under development to integrate TOR like capabilities into the protocol.

With Marlin, Monero could be protected at the network layer.....today!
90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TAU:The Active Unit | The First Proof-Of-Transaction Coin [POT] on: October 25, 2018, 03:53:06 AM
Made some overdue updates to the ANN. We are moving so fast its hard to keep up!

If you want to be part of the community (which is over 100,000 ppl!) look to apply for the startup bounty or the developer bounties. We need people with great ideas and a hunger to build something big!

You need few correction on your original article of hackernoon. I am putting statement of your article in quotes

This is all great feedback Ill make sure to incorporate.

id really like to keep this thread only focused on information that can help newbies  -- if there are any other comments about the original article or the future ones, please DM me instead
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Marlin Protocol | Network Layer Privacy and Scalability Solution for Blockchains on: October 20, 2018, 11:24:17 AM
Very informative. What will be the approach of this start-up about blockchain? Will you create new blockchain or adopt any existing blockchain?

We are not fixated on building our own chain (def some advantages and have a design for it), but are also open to using chains like eth, neo, nem. Our testnet is being developed over Ethereum to allow modular testing.
95  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Discussion] Dandelion - A protocol to hide transaction origin on: October 19, 2018, 02:31:26 PM
Traffic encryption (as used in BIP151) only makes your Bitcoin use private, not anonymous. Encryption makes what you send private, not who you are (your identity).

Your IP is the most significant identity information that exists on the Bitcoin network. Tor masks your IP from other Bitcoin nodes, dandelion masks which IP a transaction was sent from first.

Thank you for clearing that up -- I didn't take the time to fully understand that BIP151 is about anonymizing at the transaction layer, not at the network layer -- which is the relevant part of this thread

96  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Discussion] Dandelion - A protocol to hide transaction origin on: October 19, 2018, 09:43:37 AM
The research on the paper happens somewhere in 2014, where BIP 151 about E2EE (end to end encryption) protocol hasn't used by Bitcoin Core or other client, so some attack/de-anonymization attempt without running full-nodes won't work today.
Besides i think using Tor is still better than connect to bitcoin network directly, especially if government actively monitor/analyze internet traffic or forbid Bitcoin.

This is great feedback. I am writing on article on Dandelion++ and the whitepaper I shared had shown up in some source material as an argument against TOR.

I'll revise to reflect that this whitepaper is no longer relevant. Thanks again
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Marlin Protocol | Network Layer Privacy and Scalability Solution for Blockchains on: October 19, 2018, 07:15:39 AM
The concept of the project looks good. But how MARLIN PROTOCOL  works ? What is our assurance if we will adopt this kind of platform.?

The methodologies listed are all available today, but no one has added them into a universal protocol set. By having them as part of a decentralized relay framework, you can make them all available as modules with unlimited scalability and fault-tolerant uptime

The most important thing is to understand what a big affect this has on other blockchains. The network layer will always be a bottleneck for scalability and through-put if there aren't solutions like the marlin protocol available.

Few people actually understand that finality is more than just a consensus algorithm....

99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Marlin Protocol | Network Layer Privacy and Scalability Solution for Blockchains on: October 18, 2018, 07:45:48 AM
There is a new project that has some pretty big hitters on its team and they are building a new protocol to replace the current standard "Gossip Protocol"

marlin.pro

The system will be using a plethora of new networking solutions to create on-demand custom overlay networks. These include packets being forwarded even before they are received in entirety (cut-through switching), routing over low-latency multicast trees (to replace the epidemic flooding/gossip), randomized path selection before the diffusion process (a modified stemming+diffusion approach common in systems like Dandelion - for lightweight anonymity), ttransport layer improvements to improve over TCP head-of-line blocking and congestion control, and many more

This will be the project we hear a lot about in 2019 and few non-engineering people will really understand what it does.

A core dev from Zilliqa is heading it up. The project won a competition at Stanford earlier this year. With its mixed team from MIT, Stanford, IIT Mumbai with support and advise from City of Zion and other world class Research labs, the project is built for success.

Edit: There is now an official ANN discussion here

There have been a few mentions of using TOR in this thread and I thought it would be worthwhile to share this whitepaper on why using Bitcoin on TOR is a bad idea

https://arxiv.org/pdf/1410.6079.pdf

Dandelion++ is a fantastic step in the right direction because its lightweight and simple to implement
