Consider this also:

24 hr lucK from the stats:
deepbit: -17.8%
btcguid: -44.5%
slush: you can calculate yourself but two rounds over 5 hours.

I was just going to say this. Luck appears to actually have been on our side. Maybe there really has been a large reduction in the size of the network in the past few days???
882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bug Policy --- Admins need to enforce this on: August 03, 2011, 04:34:59 PM
"Hey, I just told everyone in town you left your door unlocked instead of just telling you so you could lock it. But I did the right thing, you should be glad I didn't break into your house and steal your stuff."
Except it's generally more like some warehouse that everyone in town trusts to store their valuables that's leaving its door unlocked on a regular basis, and other warehouses have a history of not actually bothering to lock their door when this is pointed out and in some cases even threatening the person who'd noticed it in order to make sure their customers don't find out about it, and there's a good chance that someone will break in and steal everyone's stuff unless they move it out of there.

It's only comparable to that if you take out a full page add in the newspaper to inform the owner that the door hasn't been locked.

If he stops spamming the forums and insulting people I might give him an ear. Smiley

This. I don't need to read about it in 5,235.098 places.

I voted Holding back judgement at this time.
884  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bug Policy --- Admins need to enforce this on: August 03, 2011, 03:58:08 PM
No, I'm calling you an asshole because you've made an asshole move.

"If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck."
are you an asshole too then?
non-asshole are not insulting people.

What are you, 12?

You don't publicly reveal the inner workings of a bug you find without privately letting the developers know first. All this does is give those that have no morals the chance to exploit it. Is this really that hard to grasp?

You made an asshole move. Learn and move on.
885  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How much money are you losing? on: August 03, 2011, 02:20:28 AM
So you're not losing anything, you're simply earning less. There is a very, very large difference.
886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sold 0.008 btc for over 11,000 USD at mtgox on: August 01, 2011, 12:28:50 PM
i vote for op. would love to see him come away with that. whom can u trust, if not the price of the biggest exchange?

It has nothing to do with trust when someone obviously tries to take advantage of a glitch. Nobody is dumb enough to believe that the price went up to the point of geting $11,000 for .08BTC.

If you walked into your bank and told them you wanted $10.00 in cash, and they handed you $110,000, would you still think you're entitled to it?

Why does it seem this community is about screwing or scamming anyone so long as it gets you ahead?
887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MT. GOX HACKED! Someone tell Magical Tux now! on: July 31, 2011, 02:24:57 PM
Mt. Gox has been hacked:
http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=33185.0

Shut down the site immediately and do another rollback please.

Assuming something doesnt make it real.

It is a bug and is being resolved, nothing got hacked.

Yeah well, Magical Tux could at least post here to let us know this and alleviate fears. Not everybody visits IRC to get the latest updates.

Or he could not waste his time on a forum and just work on fixing the problem......
888  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TradeHill - We now support deposits and withdrawals of funds via Paxum. on: July 29, 2011, 03:19:24 PM
Just stop, you're making the whole community look like a bunch of hillbilly inbreeds.

Post some proof or seriously, just STFU.

@PaxumChris

You are playing word games again and are get to get hung.

Let me ask it this way as these people can be classified as Board Members, Contractors, Advisors, etc... and not employees.

Are you saying that Michael Olsen (one of the epassporte masterminds) was the only person involved with Paxum that was associated Chris Mallick in anyway shape or form?

Before you answer that you need to decide how you will handle the fact that OxyMoronEnt (owned by Chris Mallick) is a financial stake holder and business partner with Paxum. Explain the registry firms in Belize and Antilles utilizing the exact same process agents. Deny Shaliza Somani's aka MiddleMen Productions (50% owned by Chris Mallick).....

@JohnSmiith
I didn't copy your avatar, This is a highly published pic and I have been using it for a year with this name internet wide. It was a coincidnce.
889  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TradeHill - Why we no longer accept Dwolla and an open letter to Ben Milne on: July 28, 2011, 07:22:15 PM
Someone claiming to be from Dwolla just called me to "verify details of my account" from a 515-422-xxxx number.  They wanted me to give my name and address.  I declined and said I don't know who you really are.  I've never done a single deposit to them, only withdrawls from Mt Gox and TradeHill.

They may be quiet on this issue, but they're doing something to cover their ass now.

515 is a Des Moines, Iowa area code. Thats where they are located. They called me yesterday as well to ask if i was happy with the service and if I had any questions. I had to cut him short because I was at work and couldn't talk, asked if he could call back in an hour. He never did.

I'm holding off on switching the rest fo my rigs over to Linux until the multi-machine support is enabled. I use LinuxCoin with SmartCoin on 2 of them now, so I'm really, really anxious for the multi-machine support. Incredible work!
891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do we get the women on board? on: July 27, 2011, 08:56:47 PM
"Yes please" should've been an option in the pole.
892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TradeHill - Why we no longer accept Dwolla and an open letter to Ben Milne on: July 27, 2011, 08:54:33 PM
So....did everyone else get a "customer service check-up" call from Dwolla just to make sure that they're happy with the service? I assume it's just coincidence that I get this call less than 24 hours after I posted the comment that's been screen-captured earlier in this thread on their Facebook page....

They should've made that call to TradeHill as they are/were one of their biggest customers...  Roll Eyes
WTF  Huh Am I the only one to see the stupidity in this? Please tell me I'm not crazy...  Undecided

Exactly why I'm asking.

894  Other / Off-topic / Re: A strike against PayPal has started - #OpPaypal on: July 27, 2011, 06:40:29 PM
I'm one of the most chronic complainers on the Internet.

But I've got to admit, paypal does not cross the line.

1) They provide a service. They deserve to make money.
2) The Internet is a fraudulent place. They deserve to protect themselves.
3) The only people complaining are the dishonest Internet scammers who have not been wronged in any way, shape, or form yet have an objective of staging a paypal protest against what? Nothing.

The only people that PayPal protects are the buyers that send you back their broken item that they replaced with yours. And of course, they get their money back too, leaving the seller screwed.

Every. Single. Time.

F.B Post regarding Dwolla's incident ?

Yup, they deleted my post. No more messages, nothing. I guess that's all the answer I needed.
896  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TradeHill - Why we no longer accept Dwolla and an open letter to Ben Milne on: July 27, 2011, 03:08:15 AM
I linked to Trade Hill's blog on Dwolla's Facebook page and they blocked me.  I didn't even say anything mean, just brought it up.

We should all post on Dwolla's Facebook page.  Let them know they can't get away with this.

https://www.facebook.com/dwolla?sk=wall

This is a ridiculous course of action that can only harm the Bitcoin community.

This is something that only happened two weeks ago where it is unknown what Dwolla will do to rectify the situation.  Your course of action almost gaurantees that Tradehill will have to shoulder the loss and probably causes Dwolla to quit dealing with Bitcoin companies.

So far they are being very cordial with me. I posted on their page, and simply asked them for some clarification. I didn't demonize them, I didn't try to imply that they had done something improper, and I did not link back to this open letter. My post is still there, but I did notice that posts from others have disappeared. I extended the olive branch to them of responding in a private message if they'd like. So far, so good. I made it a point to let them know I am local and that I bank with their investors. We'll see where it goes.

898  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 6970 question on: July 27, 2011, 02:54:56 AM
I don't know if there is an equivalent setting in Ubuntu, but make sure the "Power Control" setting in AMD's Catalyst driver is at 20%.  I have a single XFX 6970 running at 950 MHz and 420 Mhps with a temp that hovers around 70 degrees.  If I set the "Power Control" to 0%, my speed drops when I go over 900 MHz.

That's a very good configuration.

I also have a XFX 6970. Clock @ 950, but my Power Control is at 5% getting 423Mhps. Runs about 70 degrees with the fan at 65%. I didn't see any increase when I moved the power control beyond 5%.
