The main weakness of South Africa in this World Cup is that the players cannot play well under extra pressure. In three matches, South Africa batted later and in all three their performances were abysmal. South Africa lost against a weak team like Netherlands. South Africa was very lucky against Pakistan. We considered South Africa's batting order to be the strongest batting order of this World Cup. But this team lost all wickets today for just 83 runs. Such a bad batting probably no one imagines. South Africa conceded a humiliating defeat by 243 runs today.
Good the points. They went down to bat at their target and won one against Pakistan by 1 wicket but lost by 38 runs to a weak team like Netherlands.  South Africa won the toss and batted first in every match and beat the opposition by big margins but this South Africa is weak in chasing runs after losing the toss which was proved after yesterday's 83 all out against India. Had South Africa batted first against India, they might have provided a decent target. But South Africa's performance in the second innings is not good. Even in the pre-World Cup series, we have seen South Africa's batting order collapse when chasing runs. Their performance is quite poor when they bat on target. It was unimaginable that South Africa would bat so badly against India. Even so, I would say India and South Africa are the most likely to win the title this time. But with the way India's bowlers are now, it will be difficult for any team to beat India now. |
