181  Other / Off-topic / Blockchain and space travel on: January 07, 2020, 05:00:03 PM
Imagine we are in 2100 and we have developed means of space travel allowing us to move way faster than the speed of light to other solar systems.

How cryptocurrency transfers could work if we are in a distance of 15-20 light-years from Earth?
182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How difficult is it to change total bitcoin's 21 million suppply? on: January 07, 2020, 04:55:51 PM
What if magically, the real Satoshi would come back to the living, confirm he is the one and state:
"Dear all, you misunderstood the purpose of the creation of Bitcoin. It was supposed to be a cryptoCURRENCY, not cryptoINVESTMENT, and we need to go back to the roots, let's double the supply!"

Do you think people could follow him?
183  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Halving Priced In: Analyst Weighs the Evidence on: January 07, 2020, 04:47:57 PM
Here at Linkkoin, we are bullish - but we do not expect the price to go up 1000% like it was with Litecoin last year. But getting close to ATH is a very possible scenario, especially if the hype will be spread on the sources of news which are not focused only on cryptocurrencies.

Still, for us, there is one important question - how low will BTC go with after-halving correction?
184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Cryptocurrency is better than fiat currency? on: January 07, 2020, 04:39:11 PM
But still, the biggest issue for me is the cryptocurrency will not going to be a currency like for example bitcoin since it has a decentralized system and cannot be regulated by the government.

Yes, it is becoming regulated - AMLP/KYC/FATF Guidelines are trying to make a cryptocurrency environment as similar to banking system/wire transfers as possible (what is forming some obstacles which are practically impossible to be fixed). The worst possible scenario is that there will be a list of cryptocurrencies regarded as a pure investment (eg. Bitcoin), which can be traded only if you have a crypto-broker license.
185  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Playing Gotcha With Regulators, or What Do FATF Recommendations Mean for Crypto on: January 07, 2020, 04:25:49 PM
On June 21st 2019, the FATF presented the finalized version of governing provisions for the crypto industry. The document obligates bitcoin exchanges and other “virtual asset service providers” to comply with AML and CFT procedures similarly to traditional financial companies.

At the G20 summit in Osaka, member states endorsed those recommendations, thus formally starting the process of development of regulatory frameworks that agree with them.

While most proponents of cryptocurrencies were all for introducing proper regulation, it seemed that they should have been more careful with what they wished for. When the final recommendations have been released, it came as a shock to lots of people in the industry.

https://forklog.media/playing-gotcha-with-regulators-or-what-do-fatf-recommendations-mean-for-crypto-industry/

And there are many uncertain things still, because theoretically in accordance to the travel rule, if you send cryptocurrencies from your private wallet to another person (for value over $1000), both sending and receiving party should be verified.

With banks it is pretty easy (you open bank account giving your personal data, including ID) - but what about wallets? How can it be checked straight away that the receiving wallet does not belong to a person living in North Korea or Iran (countries banned under travel rule)?

There are many elements like that, which fit and work well for traditional banking system, but not really with blockchain.
Gdyby załóżmy połowa użtkowników wypłaciła środki i to miałoby wystarczyć to wyciągnięcia całego pokrycia jakiejś giełdy, to druga połowa - czyli sporo ludzi - straciłaby pewnie niezłą kaskę.
Pomysł bardzo ciekawy, ale powinien być zdecydowanie lepiej nagłośniony.

Mamy dziwne wrażenie, że pojawiłyby się na wielu stronach tymczasowe limity wypłat lub przerwy techniczne Wink
187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Preparing for a recession... Gold or Bitcoin? on: January 07, 2020, 03:52:58 PM
I agree to this. Gold has the ability to maintain its value or even exceeded its current valu.

But in most countries, unless we are speaking about golden coins, you do not buy gold. You simply buy a paper declaring that you are an owner of some gold stored somewhere (and that you own eg. 10 oz. of gold in 12 kg bar stored 2000 miles away from you).
So then in practice, it is less physical in form than your BTC stored on hardware/cold wallet at home.
188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If You Bought Bitcoin Each Week in 2019, You’d Be up 49% on: January 07, 2020, 01:23:56 PM
Of course the best thing to do is buy low, and sell high. However, it is very difficult to time the market.

If we go to buy at bottoms and sell on peaks, it is worth to note, that with bottoms in cryptocurrency news we see panic ("bitcoin is dead/is it a dead cat bounce?") and on peaks total hype (remember when in December 2017 even on a breakfast TV those celebrities were speaking how wonderful BTC is). Of course it would not give you 100% chance to find when exactly the bottom/peak is reached, but you can find out when it is close.
189  Economy / Speculation / Re: Now that we touched $8,000, what's next? on: January 07, 2020, 01:13:45 PM
t I just have to be happy because once again the entire marketcap is back at over $200 billion.

This is really good information, as the bigger the market cap and trading volume, the harder it is for whales fully control the market.
190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee backs out of his $1 million bitcoin prediction on: January 07, 2020, 01:11:45 PM
Well, it was expected. Still, he could make it in a better way - like eating a candy shaped after his own penis.
191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The reason behind creating Bitcoin. on: January 07, 2020, 01:07:24 PM
Do not forget about the speed and cost of international bank transactions - if you would like to send money, it can take even weeks (between 1st and 3rd world country banks) to handle the transfer, each corresponding bank has its own transfer fee (in some cases it can consume even half of the transferred amount!), if you miss a daily deadline - it might be that even in your own country money sent on Friday will not reach their destination by Monday.

With BTC you can send money much faster, wherever and whenever you want.

In other news, crime involves money  Roll Eyes
Unfortunately it is one of the best tests we can have, if criminals can use it and cash it out.

This is precisely why privacy coins cannot be listed by licensed exchanges (Japan), are delisted from or each of the users of exchanges is forced to be subject to extensive KYC procedure.
193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Preparing for a recession... Gold or Bitcoin? on: January 07, 2020, 11:54:30 AM
I wouldn't be involved in either if I went through a recession, and so would be a lot of other investors. I believe there is an economic slowdown in a recession, which means companies are looking for cash, and workers are being laid off. For companies and people seeking to sell off assets to pay bills, that's a boatload. You are not allowed to eat gold or tokens. Basically, this means the gold price is falling and so is Bitcoin. I would be interested in passive income to plan for a recession, which I think would weather well in those times; something that gives me what I need to keep my family afloat.

This is a difference between a small individual investor and regular investor. Individuals in crisis spend their savings/sell investments to survive, regular investors (if selecting the right asset) buy at "discount price". And many of the investors seeing/expecting huge losses switch some of their portfolios content from stocks to "safe haven" assets like precious metals or (this still needs to be proven, as BTC came into existence after the last financial crisis) Bitcoin.
194  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: It’s very easy to trade Bitcoin on: January 07, 2020, 11:46:26 AM
Trading bitcoin is not easy even though professional traders are losing because loss are inevitable. I often to trade bitcoin but my win rate is high, I lose small and I win big. I manage to make profit in bitcoin trading because I often to read books and journals that can help me to become a better and successful trader.

Well, no trading is an easy, especially frequent one (but daily trading can give you the biggest ROI rate if done correctly). With BTC nevertheless, if you don't want to spend all of your time watching the charts, so far there is one strategy which maybe is not generating the most profits, but is proven to work almost all the times, deriving from HODLing.
1. You buy BTC when there is a panic and in media, we get the phrase "Bitcoin is dead/is it dead cat bouncing", with price at bottoms (like late 2018).
2. You sell BTC where there is a hype (December 2017) in media.

Example: You sold 1 BTC when BTC was at $18000 level (December 2017). Then, at $4000 level (close to the bottom, when there had been a lot of talking about "crypto winter"), you bought 4 BTC. If you sold them close to last year peak (there was a hype!) at $11000, You would have had $44000. Then, going back to the end of 2019 with this "panickish" hovering around $7200 (with gloomy news) - you could get ~6BTC.
Now, we are expecting BTC price to rise due to the halving this May.

So far this scenario has proven to work (and we are wondering, for how long this scenario will be able to get repeated unless not valid anymore and all the panic/hype news will stop reflecting the real situation).

Not many actions needed (in the meantime you can work fulltime if you want). Feel free to test it with people who are not very familiar with Bitcoin.

Nie będzie prób analogicznych jakie miały miejsce względem tzw. "dopalaczy"?

196  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buy bitcoin with credit card on: January 07, 2020, 11:18:51 AM
Technically, you should not use a credit card to pay bills because you pay a credit from another credit instrument, such as a credit card.

Quite often there is a misnaming the product - often debit cards are called credit cards as well (as credit cards came to existence before debit ones), so then for the sake of convenience, many people use the same name. Anyway, for the purpose of making transaction itself, there is no real difference for both user and company receiving payment.
197  Local / Polski / Re: Bitcoin Embassy on: January 07, 2020, 10:41:33 AM
Kto chce to będzie dalej grał online z EV -0.01.

Nie będzie prób analogicznych jakie miały miejsce względem tzw. "dopalaczy"?
198  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buy bitcoin with credit card on: January 03, 2020, 04:55:35 PM
Is it really a matter of large volumes of bitcoin, then of course, hackers will hunt for the owner of this wallet and use any opportunities to gain access to funds.  But in other situations, when buying small volumes of Bitcoin, as well as other cryptocurrencies using my credit card, when using certain exchange resources, I don’t see much danger if the user protects his online wallet well.  The main thing is that this wallet should be, for example, on the blockchain info, and not in the account of some exchange.
Of course the smaller the amount the lower the risk and for single $50 transaction buying a hardware wallet may not be the best idea, but for $1000+ (unless you use it for immediate payment/you are a daily trader) this is possibly the best available solution.
199  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Big invest in bitcoin on: January 03, 2020, 04:51:10 PM
use half of it first, and learn how you should be able to read the market. Then what type of trade will you invest in, in my opinion the $ 6k range is good for investing in the long run. In addition, use the rest in reverse on the futures market. Because you write about large investments, it means you have to invest by not using only one method.

As well it is very possible that from now onwards there will be a bubble pump because of the halving, shortly before it (like with LTC last year) strong correction.
200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CHANGE MY MIND: YouTube Did the Right Thing by Booting Crypto "Influencers" on: January 03, 2020, 04:19:10 PM
But they said that some videos about crypto and blockchain that just shows discussion and also give lessons got deleted. So that's unfair for those who just make educational content. Cause if they were really scammers, people who followed them should have already reported it. That's part of youtube's terms and conditions.
Not all crypto account in YouTube are trying to scam people though

Sometimes the algorithms governing removal of youtube accounts are working in a bit strange manner, but anyway - anyone who knowingly promotes scam/Ponzi schemes should take full responsibility for that.
