181  Economy / Speculation / Re: Even Alex Jones makes fun of us on: April 14, 2013, 04:40:58 PM
I'm sure Jones really cares about people... about their freedoms and all that... just look at all those neat shirts and water filters and other crap that he's selling. Yep, he got our best interest in his heart.

So because he sells stuff he does not care about people's freedoms. Great logic!

No, it's the way he sells stuff. He gets people all paranoid about EVERYTHING, not just the stuff that have merit to be wary of. Then he goes to sell you some garbage T shirts and water filters... as if those items would really stop Big Brother. He's merely feeding off of people's fears, and coming up with no solutions.

Jones is the type of guy who would make up 1000 predictions and if just a few of them come true, he will boast about those for some time to go... all while he's selling you water filters:

183  Economy / Economics / Re: Zuckerberg's nemeses revealed as Bitcoin moguls -> Winklevoss twins (oh no!!!!!) on: April 14, 2013, 04:39:19 AM
The Winkledouche twins were butthurt losers angry that they, two Harvard scions of WASP America, basically got pounded to pudding by a nerdy Jew.

That said, it's a good sign when old money gets involved with new money.  I don't see how this is bad for Bitcoin any more than being adopted by any other prominent money guys.

Of course, it would be kind of a nuisance if they suddenly claimed they invented Bitcoin and try to sue Satoshi.

Except, Satoshi doesn't "exist".

2. As a medium of exchange, bitcoin could help Chinese people evade currency controls.

China’s capital controls make it extremely hard for to buy stuff beyond China’s borders—most online stores don’t accept yuan or Chinese payment systems, and there are limits to what they can exchange into foreign currency. As bitcoin markets develop overseas, Chinese bitcoin owners could in theory change it into currencies that sites like PayPal, Amazon, etc., accept. Right now bitcoin (比特币, or bitebi) commands somewhere between 600 and 700 yuan at the time of this writing. Those who wish to trade it can get started on Taobao or Paipai.

I have been saying this for months, finally a westerner gets it.

If you are not an oversea Chinese student/worker, you have no idea how many payment requests each of them will receive each year.

The problem is on the American/European side, I dare the merchants to accept bitcoins and they will very likely see a surge in purchases.

And buying bitcoins has never been a problem for Chinese, we have a very large exchange, and a huge mining population, the supply should be abundant.

Excellent analysis. Good news for Bitcoin indeed.
185  Economy / Speculation / Re: Even Alex Jones makes fun of us on: April 14, 2013, 04:20:38 AM
Alex Jones is likely just another mouthpiece for Big Brother. They like to control both sides of thought, the mainstream and the alternative.

Regardless, I don't really care what Jones has to say. It doesn't take an insider or anything to see that the market was going to crash. And besides, if bankers caused the crash, what can we do about it? Nothing.

And what if Satoshi started passing out free BTC's to people? There was some dude doing that on redit a few days ago. Could be Satoshi (or the group known as Satoshi).

Except none of those inventions really threatens the central bankers like Bitcoin could.

I thing for example the invention of the printing press threatened the power of the powerful people of that time a lot more than Bitcoin does today.

But it was a stunning success.

And once people knew how to read at a reasonable level, the printing press became the propaganda outlet of powerful people.

What's the crest on Roger's blazer?

Free mason...   Masons run the world and Ver is in on it.

You sure? The badges site says it's a "Voluntaryist Pin". They do have a lot of pins with triangular formations, but none of which really seem Masonic to me, other than their shape.

BTW, Davi (The Muslim Agorist) is a great artist. He's done stellar work for Shire Silver.

Thanks. Those badges look cool.

196  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-04-12 Washington Post "What Bitcoin teaches us about Internet’s energy use" on: April 13, 2013, 06:39:50 AM
mm lets see, how much energy to make all the special paper and print FRN and other 'legal tender'?
Not  to mention the various coins made of god knows what alloys  these days ....
Of course if you compare it to adding more zeros in the might digital fiat realm I guess maybe it is energy expensive.

Think of the amount of money that goes into transporting fiat and physical coins, protecting it, storing it. Think of the amount of gas wasted on it.

Over at Bloomberg, Mark Gimein calls Bitcoin — yes, Bitcoin — an “environmental disaster.” Why? Because all that processing power used to mine for new Bitcoins requires a staggering amount of energy:
Quote
Mining is a process in which powerful computers create Bitcoins by solving processor-intensive equations. …
Blockchain.info, a site that tracks data on Bitcoin mining, estimates that in just the last 24 hours, miners used about $147,000 of electricity just to run their hardware, assuming an average price of 15 cents per kilowatt hour … That’s enough to power roughly 31,000 U.S. homes, or about half a Large Hadron Collider.
It’s a stunning stat, but does this really count as a “disaster”? That’s less clear. After all, we need to consider the counterfactural: Is it possible that these computers would be used for other activities and calculations anyway, if they weren’t mining Bitcoins?

Later makes the point that it is really wireless and 4G networks that consume the bulk of energy costs, not datacenters or bitcoin, citing: http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2013/04/cell-networks-are-energy-hogs/274961/

So this is what it has come to? Bitcoin burns energy? Give me a break.

200  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this a coordinated attack? on: April 13, 2013, 02:38:43 AM
It's possible that Bitcoin itself is a pet project of the bankers. Its volatility, association with SR, and general shakiness is a good way to establish to the public that currencies only work in the hands of a centralized entity, to destroy the public's confidence in any sort of decentralized currency. It's also a very clever way to disclose the opinions of the public, sort of like detecting thought-crime. Just one theory. So who knows.

Not likely. The bankers don't support libertarian technology as pet projects and if it was one of theirs you'd see hints of their mindset in the design of the project itself. It would reek of centralization and centralized power.

There was a new Bitcoin video that popped up on Youtube recently. All computer graphics, much of which have a lot of Masonic symbolism in it. Just saying.

Masons aren't any more important than any other social club. I suppose you believe the toastmasters international are the elite? The elite don't need to join a club, they are born into their family. If you need to join a club then you aren't elite.

Yet there are Masons who are born into it. I don't buy into that idea that Freemasons are just the same as any other social club. They seem to have greater influence than say, Toastmasters, which is just a club to improve one's speech-giving abilities.
