However, it is likely that any distribution will be made in USD.
I guess now I don't feel that bad that MtGox is delaying the process. As it is likely that this will result in more losses for us, what can we do ? I'm anything but a lawyer, but I don't see on what basis they prefer USD to BTC, this being a liquidation in NZ (except convenience I guess). Thoughts ? but I really hope that the above doesn't mean they're considering paying us in USD at the time of the freeze.
No, I don't see them selling BTC at spot price, giving us the equivalent at 5$, and keeping the change. However, any conversion will cost us (well, except if BTC goes down between their sale and the time we can buy some back, but I guess we agree it's not the most likely possibility)

I made 50 BTC transfer, and after 2 hrs my wallet is saying 0 confirms. Makes me worry I just have the unconfirmed [50]. Is this safe? It is safe, it will just take time. Don't worry, and next time include a fee

Edit: Is there a chart of SUM(bid)/SUM(ask) and the actual price in one chart? I mean people will use everything to get people bullish or bearish so even this will be manipulated but it would be nice to see how good an indicator it was in the past.
Have a look here

Yup, someone just put a ~1.5M$ wall at 51$ (28kBTC)

From his tweeter : @JamesGRickards endorses #Bitcoin! "As Cyprus Implodes, Bitcoin Interest Explodes" | Fox Business http://fxn.ws/105VG0m via @foxbusiness @Joshua_Muller @FoxBusiness It's not an endorsement, just an observation. #Bitcoin will grow, but it has its own issues. @JamesGRickards When you say #Bitcoin has its own issues, what issues are you referring to? @Joshua_Muller I'm still learning, keeping an open mind. But can't forget the #Linden. https://twitter.com/Joshua_Muller/status/315646460232343552Like many who are probably not tech-savy enough, he's taking the conservative route and says that he's still learning. I'm OK with that, it's not an easy thing to understand, and it's better than promoting bitcoin while you have no clue.

And this : Please also be advised that all deposits are subject to an ID check by our AML team and this process would take up to 1 business day. First-timer depositors are requested to upload their copy of the official ID to facilitate this process (you will not have to be fully verified at this point if your deposit is lower than 50,000 USD) ( https://mtgox.com/trade/funding-options, method 'Bank Transfer") Does this mean that during this "1 business day" MtGox received the money but does make it accessible to you ?
|
|
|
Do you need a verified account to deposit fiat?
My bad, you're apparently right : https://support.mtgox.com/entries/20919111-AML-Account-Statuses It's only about withdrawals limits, so anybody can deposit/buy without being verified. EDIT : if an actual MtGox user could give us an answer, that could be great (didn't use them for more than a year)

Agree. I cannot give graphs for AML requests right now, but I can tell you that the rate of new requests increased in the same way, with around 1000 new requests on Friday. Three new staff will be starting Monday on the AML.
Just checked the queue, there are 5500 accounts pending verification at this very moment.
If it's not bullish, I don't know what is...

It's a big deal that Rickards has noticed and essentially endorsed Bitcoin. And he is one of the quintessential goldbugs.
Indeed. And I might add, he's not a crazy conspiracy nut goldbug. Which means BIG money is listening to him.

And Another paragraph:
Poker isn´t gambling if you work on it like a Investment
If you understand Poker world, then don´t write incorrect ideas about it. 50% of people in Pokerstars o iPoker are gamblers. the rest of the people plays it with another philosophy because poker is an investment. (sport bets are a investment for inteligent people)
Thanks for read
see you
As a semi-pro poker player, I know that you're right. And by the way, I would put the % of "gamblers" (read EV- betters, but that's not my definition of gamblers) clearly below 50%. But if you are EV+ player at 100-200$ bi, you should crush 10$ and move up fast. Stacking is when you have short-term bankroll issues, not to build a BR. And if you have enough knowledge about variance in MTT, you should know that we need at least thousands games to have some idea about your skill. And just to add on the investing/gambling debate, to me it's the same thing. In finance, as in poker, you just don't know the future, there will always be variance. Gambling can be EV+ (profitable), and investing can be EV-.

Hi,
First, probably not the best place to ask for stacking. You should probably move your post to the gambling section. Second, do you really think anyone would stack you based on that small of a volume ? And most of all, you want us to stack you 100% and only get back 70% ?
What a joke
If you want stacking, at least propose something legit. But I'm pretty sure that if you're asking here, that's because you know nobody is going to stack you on 2p2...

Yep, seems so. For those who don't know, he's the author of "Currency Wars". A smart guy with plenty of connections, so always interesting to hear his thoughts.

Nice to hear Jim Rickards opinion on bitcoin People are looking for alternatives because of a loss of confidence in paper money and traditional banking systems Gold is a great way to preserve wealth, but it is hard to move around. You do need some kind of alternative and Bitcoin fits the bill. I’m not surprised to see that happening. It’s almost a badge of respect when the Treasury starts regulating you,You must be doing something right. It’s not a knock on Bitcoin, I’m sure there are criminals using the Bitcoin world, but there are criminals and bad actors in the dollar world as well. The sight of a drug smuggler opening a suitcase full of $100 bills is not unusual.
