21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why does Bitcoin seem to always rally in December? on: December 20, 2018, 11:47:13 AM
Bitcoin does not always rally in December, this has only happened once, last December. This current growth can not be called a rally just yet.
Prior to 2017, the final quarter was usually met with price falls, especially during December.
If the price keeps going up, and settling at higehr supports, we might yet have a mini-bull run this year.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: the right time to buy ETH. on: December 20, 2018, 06:05:02 AM
I'm not sure what chart you're looking up, but ethereum now is worth about $102, it has been fairly stable between a range of about $6 for the past 48 hours.
Hopefully we have hit the bottom and colan only go up from here. Don't hesitate to much when investing, there would always be better times and worse ones.
23  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Suggest some good token. on: December 20, 2018, 06:01:40 AM
Rather than asking for suggestions on which coin to invest, it's better to learn how to use the foundamentals to decide which currency suits your strategy and capital.
As a newbie you would want to go for coins and tokens which are much higher in the rankings by market capitalization on CMC. Judging by that, bitcoin would be the best option, then Ripple, the ethereum and so on.
24  Other / Meta / Re: [Proposal] Badges. Badges everywhere on: December 20, 2018, 05:44:23 AM
I think earned merit badges would be nice.

After all earned merit should have some kind of difference between Airdrop merit.

This could work quite well, after the demotion of jr members with no merits, I was expecting actions to be taken against all members yet to earn a single merit.
It's worse having a legendary member spamming the forum, and carries the title but has yet to earn a single merit.

Aside badges, there should be other perks reserved for those with earned merits. Maybe ability to wear avatars.
25  Other / Meta / Re: Could there be a section for sport on: December 18, 2018, 01:11:36 PM
but all work and no fun won't make bitcoin price to increase.

I am still trying to understand what you mean by this. We do not work to take the price of bitcoin higher, except of cause in the capacity of whales. But we can work to profit from the market through 'work'. And yes, more of that would boost our gains.

If there was a high number of posts in the off topic section, that could be a reason to consider making a child board for it. But as it stands, there seems to be no reason at all.
26  Other / Meta / Re: The new rule (1 Merit for Jr. Member) is already reducing spam on: December 17, 2018, 11:55:16 AM
I don't think this large drop is still caused by the new Merit rules. I'll keep updating this list, because I expect the post count to go up once Bitcoin starts going up in price.

Initially the merit system might have had a significant effect in the drop in posts, as lots of demoted jr members had no reason to keep actively posting in the forum. We were left with those determined to earn merits and those complaining about the unfair system.

The bad market of the past month has reduced interest of most in bitcoin and cryptocurrency related content.
I also expect a rise is activity with that of bitcoin.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Comparing USD to BTC: Should BTC hire mercenarys to force adoption by murder? on: December 17, 2018, 11:03:09 AM
BTC can never 'beat' the dollar unless they beat the system that backs the US Dollar "Murder, Inc".

Bitcoin is not trying to 'beat' the dollar or any other Fiat Currency. Bitcoin was created to be used by a community of people who crave financial freedom and control. And those who were not comfortable with the amount of access third parties had to their assets.

It's an alternative currency, and cannot replace Fiat.

If your not willing to "DIE for Bitcoin", then you are not worth of the crypto cause.

I would will myself to see the humour behind that statement, albeit a bad attempt at humour.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You know the famous quote about religion on: December 17, 2018, 10:51:26 AM
I am, I know someone that does nothing else than go on about btc all day, he doesn't have a lot of money but he believes one day he'll be a millionaire so he doesn't work.

It appears you both simply take opposite opinions, one overly optimistic and the other overly pessimistic.
I prefer to be realistic, while considering the pros and cons of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, as I always take a holistic view of the market. Indeed I'm deep into some altcoins more so than BTC.

There is not perfect market, or perfect commodity.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone still using Medium to post Bitcoin related topics on: December 17, 2018, 10:46:17 AM
Medium is not such a cryptocurrency friendly platform, there were issues of articles related to ICOs getting deleted soon after being posted and in extreme cases accounts getting blocked.

I still have my account, but do not regularly frequent it.
Steemit and Minds are very good alternatives and not averse to cryptocurrency related content.
30  Other / Meta / Re: question on newbie thread on using bitcoin and crypto on: December 16, 2018, 08:22:55 PM
It's all down to the orientation new recruits get when introduced to bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
They are commonly told it's a means of making easy profit, by simply watching your investments grow, and are not introduced to tbe bigger picture and endless possibilities.

This is very similar to this forum, newbies are told it's a source of income, but they are not giving the bigger picture and hence to do not explore the full potential.
31  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price breaking lows again and again on: December 15, 2018, 05:28:02 PM
The bear market could be upon us for quite a while, except for a major update or progress on some projects that could attract investments and increase adoption, the cryotocurrency winter would likely last out the year.

A bull run might be a long time coming, for now we need to identify the bottom.
The market is unpredictable and as such we can only speculate.
32  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't love any Alt coins. on: December 15, 2018, 05:20:34 PM
The general idea is do not mix emotions when trading.
Always judge based in the foundamentals and the technicalities.
Although when a coin meets all your criteria and lives up to it's potentials, you are likely to get excited and get attached to it. But always control your emotions.
33  Other / Meta / Re: The forum now has more than 2 500 000 users! Congratulations! on: December 15, 2018, 05:11:38 PM
The forum now has more than 2,500,000 accounts*, which is not a landmark but an illness that the forum has been trying to cure for years now. Although the situation is not as bad as before, but it is still not totally under control if I must say.

Theymos has refused to take any dratic actions against the large number of bots and accounts farmed for the purpose of spamming a thread for reward, and little Carr for the rules as they can always create another and another.

Any changes made would likely frustrate legitimate new members who would have made great additions to the forum. And the spammers would just find ways around the system.
34  Economy / Speculation / Re: Perception about BTC to rise in 2019 is good? on: December 13, 2018, 02:56:51 PM
most of the traders have booked profit and almost sold their holdings are the indicators of  the rise of prices of BTC in 2019.

I am very curious to know ow how you arrived at that conclusions about majority of traders 'booked profit'.
Depending on what strategy you have used, you could have possibly profited from Bitcoin this year. Shorting is one of the best ways to profit from the market, except it is linked to price drops.

Regular investors are most likely not satisfied with the current price which has remained firmly below the $3500 range.
There are not tools however, with which to make any speculation for 2019.
35  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it a good idea to buy some bitcoin now? on: December 13, 2018, 02:52:30 PM
Investing relies heavily in the foundamentals amd actual product rather than the price, which is subject to fluctuations.
If you see Bitcoin as an asset which has value and relevant use cases, then you should consider it a good time to invest, especially with a lowee price range compared to majority of this year.
36  Other / Meta / Re: Prevent profiles with negative trust from sending merit on: December 13, 2018, 06:04:28 AM
Cheaters are selling merit to newbies without fear of punishment because they are already tagged.

That is the highest form of punishment for merit abusers, and should serve as detterent enough for anyone interested in their long term presence on the forum.
A negative feedback limits a users ability to interact on the forum.
Those interested in merit trades are of course also rules violators and risk getting tagged if proven beyond reasonable doubt.
37  Other / Meta / Re: Could we stop having ban appeal topics? on: December 13, 2018, 05:56:51 AM
I can suggest about starting a new board for all the ban appeals and also as @theymos is thinking of building a better system for account recovery. A new section with just apples related to banned or hacked accounts can add simplicity to finding the apples and also reduce the unwanted posts in the meta section.

That is a very good idea, for simplicity, it could be a child board in Meta. And banned users could have access to post there without the need to open new accounts, considering that a banned user has gotten a level of evil IP, theu would also have to pay for that in order to appeal.

Thanks issue is Theymos seems to spend very little thought for plagiarists who engage in such activities for personal gain at the expense of the forum.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: That made my day, really on: December 12, 2018, 07:53:19 PM
Every new project more times than not, has a ground breaking, revolutionary project, and it is not the reality more often than not.
My first thought when analysing a project; is it feasible and sustainable?
Promises are easy to make, especially when seeking for funds. They are more challenging harder to actualize.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The BIGGEST Thing Happening In Crypto, Nobody Is Talking About This? on: December 12, 2018, 05:22:39 PM
There are so many predictors who predicted that BTC will go to 30K$, 40K$ or even some predicted 50K$ as well. From March to December 18, there are so many posts about the speculation of BTC but all failed. In my research there was only one post which predicted that ETH will go to double figure. Now ETH is in double figure. Believe me that was blind guess because that person that does not give any logic. Account was newbie as well. So you can imagine

Predictions are simply that, mere guesses, not all times blind. Some can research and arrive at suitable price speculation, and yet be wrong.

After the pump of late 2017, everyone had the bullish mindset, and we're predicting Bitcoin climbing to above $250k in the next months.
Only a few calm heads could see through the hype and FOMO and realize it was unsustainable for the long run.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK Parliament Member Wants You to Pay Your Taxes with Bitcoin on: December 11, 2018, 04:27:10 PM
asking to pay taxes in bitcoin is like letting a government shout "give me 10-20% of your bitcoin"

imagine how fast governments would hoard alot of bitcoin

The article says; the US model which the UK are trying to imitate uses payment processors in partnership with Bitpay.
How does the government hodl butcoins when they never get them but they are instantly converted to fiat?
Also if the governments desire to accumulate, why don't they simply buy with the tax payers money and hoard it?
