Having held a TSSCI security clearance myself, I'm gonna have to call bullshit on your story, thanks for trying though.

I've held High Security (not TS) clearance, and what he says jives with the instructions I was given.

There's still people that don't believe the FPGAs exist

REALLY? Who?

I saw a comment a few days ago from someone demanding to see pics of Minirigs in the wild :S

Josh is certainly right, you can't please all of the people all of the time, but this thread was more about consensus and seeing who was willing. I see yochdog with the most support and a confirmation to go, and sunbreak as a second.
443  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: EskimoBob is a scammer, witness reports inside on: September 25, 2012, 04:21:10 PM
People aren't correct about the law. You can have a contract for silence, one example of which would be a non-disclosure agreement. You are mixing up the restriction of criminal law versus the voluntary restriction of civil law. You cannot be jailed for speaking out, but you are subject to damages due to breech of contract.

By all accounts above, EskimoBob did agree that he would stop commenting against usagi and transfer some shares for the consideration of 5.3 bitcoins. However, in this case I don't feel a scammer tag is appropriate. Contrary to popular belief, a breech in part of the contract does not dissolve the entire contract, and you can only seek direct remedies on the part of the contract that was in breech. From the pasted text, usagi valued the stock at .53 btc each and there were 10 shares. This means usagi valued the silence at 0 btc, and I'm satisfied that this has been repaid. In the future, if you are going to do this, then I suggest giving specific consideration for the silence portion of the contract. Most courts will not uphold any contract portion that does not have consideration.

However, it could be seen (assuming you upheld a 0 consideration clause) that by contract usagi is entitled to sue EskimoBob for actual damages as a result of his statements. I think damages will be hard to prove though, because no one listens to what EskimoBob has to say anyway.

See http://www.publishlawyer.com/contract.htm for a basic primer and look at the part about mutuality. My source is I was formerly married to a law student and she drove me crazy with contract law.

yochdog also has 4 (crazyates, Xfinity nomorecoin, and myself). Five if you include psilan's, but yochdog is still a few posts shy of 1337 posts and it seemed like the comment was more for humor.
445  Other / Meta / Re: 'Good post' - feature on: September 25, 2012, 07:33:17 AM
your not serious, reddit is the hive for trolling the karma, I have seen great articles on reddit get down voted all way to hell and beyond. I don't have a reddit account but I do browse.

I agree with you (see above) about the problems a karma system brings to reddit.

You can't reasonably use reddit without an account. Once you get an account, you should unsubscribe from all of the default reddits, and find smaller replacements, and ones tailored to your specific hobbies. The main subreddits have too many people all clamoring to out-impress each others. It becomes lowest common denominator junk.
446  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Date for 25 BTC per Block on: September 25, 2012, 07:00:35 AM
I think that the ASIC thing is kind of unfortunately timed. I would have liked to have seen what would happen if there was no transition in technology at the time. What if the halving occurred and mining was only at a 10% profit margin, suddenly putting everyone in the red by 40%? How would the market react? How would the miners react? But the conditions here are actually a little uninteresting. The price/bitcoin is so high that even a halving will keep GPUs slightly profitable, while ASICs start to roll out and will get acquired to fit into the limits of the 25 btc reward. This "First Halvings Day" will be relatively without any drama. I don't think it will give an accurate picture of what will happen when we go from 25->12.5.
447  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Which Card Has The Fastest ROI? on: September 25, 2012, 06:42:33 AM
CPU intensive hashing would opens the network to serious risks from botnet operators. Having skilled miners operating less nodes with superior hardware protects the network against attack. As soon as botnet operators realize that ltc -> btc is more profitable, watch out.

LTC has been around for almost a year. It's not dead and it's probably not going to die. Like BTC, the algorithm is self adjusting so that it remains profitable to mine.

Neither algorithm adjusts to profitability. Look towards namecoin, ixcoin, iocoin, etc to see how the algorithm doesn't adjust to profitability. I say mine while the mining's good, but these alt currencies often hit a point where people begin to abandon them and there's no trading them for bitcoin, and there's no products and services built around them (i.e. no economy).

How about DiabloD3 Huh

He has a mining company, designed a miner & dosen't think too highly of BFL.

Reeses has been way too vocal (rude) with respect to BFL.He may try to sabotage the plant or something  Cheesy

The problem is: if he came back and said everything was great, we'd all know it was great, but if he said there was  problem and BFL is all f'ed up and we need to pull out now, we couldn't trust it. I agree with an earlier poster that someone who has preorders with BFL makes sense because they would have a motivation to blow a whistle but not be a hater with an agenda.
449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Oh Gosh,,,, MSI 890FXA-GD70 4 x 5830,, Was working fine,,, out of nowhere KABOOM on: September 25, 2012, 05:20:47 AM
All the cards fan's spin. I am lost here. Maybe a dummy plug would help.. I am going to try that... but i never needed them before.... drivers are the same...

Going to go screw around with it ....

The card's fans spin because the power cable is attached and feeding power. In my case it was definitely a software issue but I couldn't get it to fix without removing the cards form the machine and then letting Windows see that they were gone. When I put them back in, they reconfigured and worked fine.

If you didn't need dummy plug before, you don't need them now, and my recollection is the ATI drivers changed to not require dummy plugs late 2011.
450  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Top 10 sites all newbies should know about on: September 25, 2012, 03:37:36 AM
BitMit.  It's the ebay of bitcoins. If anyone asks where to spend bitcoins, I point them there.

If you are listing items for sale
- do set your item to use escrow. No feedback and no escrow = scam
- do not list your item at a price way higher than you can get on ebay. Why would someone transfer coins to gox/bitinstant/etc with all the costs involved only to come back around to sell them for a price higher than the dollars they started with?
451  Economy / Speculation / Re: Shipped ASICs = Bitcoin goes down? on: September 25, 2012, 03:08:57 AM
You should buy now. By the end of October, the price of bitcoin will be closer to $15 as an attempt to price in the reward halving (I guarantee you it is not priced in fully yet). ASICs won't cause the price to do down, ASIC miners will hold their coins for after the inflation drop. Then after the drop in inflation, there might be a temporary move back to $13-$15, but it will start moving to $30 by at the latest mid summer next year.

Source: my ass, but it's how I see things panning out. If you wait for a drop now, you'll never get in the game.
452  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL Requests Input on: September 25, 2012, 02:44:53 AM
I'd like to go, but I'm pretty sure I'm not that well known.

I'll nominate yochdog. He's a miner, seems pretty well known, has BFL FPGAs, and has traded tens of thousands of dollars with forum members including a few thousand with me. I'd trust his report.
453  Other / Off-topic / Re: As the oldest miner in the forum, I declare... on: September 25, 2012, 12:53:18 AM
I can prove it. What is the best way to prove it?

Again, min bet is 10 BTC. If I am lying you win 30 BTC, if I am telling the truth you pay me 10 BTC. Put your money where your mouth is, you are talking to the oldest miner here so have some fucking respect.

Miner Maria.

It's simple to prove. Find your first reward block in the blockchain. Then transfer .112396 out of that address (I picked that number because its the message id for this thread). If there's no coins there, then you'll need to transfer some in. If you don't have control of that address anymore, find the oldest reward block you DO have access to.
454  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] LocalBitcoins.com - a location-based bitcoin to cash marketplace on: September 25, 2012, 12:42:48 AM
Great site, I love it Smiley

Yeah, I had my first successful trade a few weeks ago. It's actually nice to sit and chat with other people who know about our crazy world.
455  Economy / Securities / Re: Looking for reliable security to invest in. on: September 24, 2012, 11:32:48 PM
I'm looking for a bond with a relatively high output that's not a ponzi scheme.

I'm looking at BIF.1YR.LOAN right now.

Thanks!

Good luck with that.

You're welcome.
456  Economy / Securities / Re: Enough is Enough on: September 24, 2012, 11:27:50 PM
I received this in one of my email boxes this morning. I have not issued any assets on GLBSE.

I have expressed concern over usagi's apparent refusal to settle the question of his or her gender. This has raised a serious red flag for me in the past, and TBH, I continue to have concerns about several things about usagi.

For the moment, I'll watch the shell game of companies start & start asking all the money managers to state their usagi exposure.

I've made this mistake in the past. Usagi is likely sleeping now because they live in asia. Give zher some time to wake up and sign on. Not everyone is a mouth breathing basement dweller who needs instant gratification from barely-peers on a rude-as-fuck webboard loosely tied to a internet cryptocurrency.
457  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: EskimoBob is a scammer, witness reports inside on: September 24, 2012, 11:20:06 PM
All I know is that I have not scammed him nor anyone else. Yes, Usagi scammed me, when he told me lies to sell me some of the shares.
I have no idea what is the contract my delusional friend Usagi is speaking about.

But... can I have some of that stuff you guys are smoking? Sounds like a lot of fun. LOL

BTW, usagi got really mad at me because I posted this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=110350.msg1204234#msg1204234
...contract you can really smoke Wink

You two need to get a room.
458  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Got off the phone with the Guy from the S.E.C on: September 24, 2012, 11:13:57 PM
He shut down on the day the SEC closed Zeek.
Pirate's rates were slightly below those of Zeek (so he'd make a profit passing funds through to there).
Now that the SEC is investigating Zeek they're interested in Pirate.

Coincidence?

Hmmm, I thought this wasn't true, but actually it does fit. Zeek apparently was 1.5 daily, or 10% weekly and I seem to recall pirate saying something like his process makes 10% and he pockets the difference. There's also that whole thing about him wanting the price to be stable.

Also, everyone who is asking about BFL, THERE IS NO CONNECTION. The OP brought up BFL with the investigator and the investigator blew him off, saying he should go to the FTC and the GA. But I'm telling you right now the GA isn't going to care about people getting their boxes 5 weeks late. Every case I know of, BFL always offered a refund when it was late (in my case, even in advance of the due date). It's a complete non-starter.
459  Other / Off-topic / Re: Post a lie about the person above you! on: September 24, 2012, 09:57:29 PM
^ Is the personal account for the SEC investigator looking into the pirate ponzi scheme.
460  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: EskimoBob is a scammer, witness reports inside on: September 24, 2012, 09:40:19 PM
LOL.

If this continues with that speed 50% of the forum members will be labelled scammers within the next 3 Month.

Akka, you're a ruddy git.

Give me 10 btc or I'll... call you a ruddy git again.
