81  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Top 10 reasons why BFL will postpone their April 2013 shipping date on: March 20, 2013, 01:54:44 PM
#6 After an extensive research cycle, they discovered that the 6th week of April is really the 2nd week in May.

#5 After the FinCEN declarations, they had to wait for a Money Transmitter license to test the transfer of their testnet coins

#4 The online order tracking system accidentally changed all of the order dates to "blue"

#3 The units didn't work after they cut each of them into thirds to be able to implement the 1/3rd plan

#2 The digital design company theyused for their ASICs are litecoin moles.

and the number one reason BFL will postpone and April 2013 shipping date:

The units from PrimeASIC they were going to repackage haven't arrived yet.
82  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 10 000$ investment ? will it be good on: March 14, 2013, 02:56:33 AM
it's probably a better idea just to buy 2000 bitcoins [with $10,000].

good luck with that Wink

Oops. I originally wrote 200, but was like, that's not very much. These exchange rates are a little hard to get used to.
83  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 10 000$ investment ? will it be good on: March 14, 2013, 12:51:30 AM
hi i want to know if i invest 10 000$ on material like grid and graphic cards and lod everything up to 96%up time how much i can earn daily ? if i spend as much as 10 000$ in material !! and wish material as good i just want to know the aproximatly daily or monthly earning friends and thank you

If litecoins hold their value then this could be a good investment. However, it probably will not be a good idea for bitcoin. Even if BFL doesn't deliver, Avalon and ASICMINER have a lot of terrahashes on the way.

Seriously, though, it's probably a better idea just to buy 2000 bitcoins.

Well, I'm sorry to get any hopes up, but after coming home and discussing with my wife, she's convinced me that this isn't a good idea. So, I'm going to have to take it back.
85  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Litecoin (hype or real) on: March 13, 2013, 03:53:14 PM
Maybe now is a good time to buy

Now is the worst time to buy. Now is the time to mine litecoin and sell asap  Grin

Agreed, now is the time to mine.

As far as "is litecoin real," it is as real as early bitcoin, but it still is looking for a killer app, or even integration with existing bitcoin services. I can easily point to the goods and services offered in bitcoin, but it's hard to do the same for litecoin.

We do need more altcoins to take hold though. The idea that there can only be one is not right. Bitcoin should move from being a standard currency to a reserve currency for it to meet its full potential. Then when you want to move large goods and services between one another, you use bitcoin as a settlement currency. This could allow a person with litecoin to pay a contract to a person who wants ppcoin or even gold bars.

The one thing I dislike about litecoin is the use of scrypt. Once the value in the currency is there, forget about mining it. Botnets will push GPU miners out of business.

I have an early July Single SC that I will trade for $5000 paypal. I am a reputable trader and have sold FPGAs in the past. Yochdog will vouch for me. I cannot make any warrantee about BFL batch cut offs because they aren't forthcoming with this info, and I will not test the unit, just remail it. Any defects with the unit will need to use the BFL RMA process.

Edit: well, I'm sorry to get any hopes up, but after coming home and discussing with my wife, she's convinced me that this isn't a good idea. So, I'm going to have to take it back.
87  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PrimeAsic - 80 Ghash/sec Asic Miner on: March 11, 2013, 03:48:15 PM
These scams are pretty transparent to us, but we are not really the target. The target for most online scams are people who poorly have english as a second language. They cannot read through pages and pages of of a forum rebuttal to the initial post, but they can grasp enough of that post to believe if they send bitcoins to a certain address that they will get a magic money box. These scammers rely on the inability of the reader to fully comprehend what is being said, similar to the "Xbox box" ebay scams.
88  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM - Coinabul owe me 81btc on: March 08, 2013, 03:28:22 PM
I think that Coinabul is in the wrong here and should send the silver, but I think that this is a misappropriation of the SCAMMER tag. The scammer tag shouldn't be used to settle contract disputes between two people who believe they were acting in good faith, but disagree on the outcome of a failed deal. Coinabul did buy the insurance, and the insurance company isn't honoring the amount to Coinabul so in their view they did what they could to insure it, but that insurance didn't pay, so there is nothing for the buyer. The buyers sees it as they bought insurance from Coinabul and so they should insure the delivery regardless. Both can be seen as good faith views and so there is no reason to think anyone is acting as a SCAMMER.

That said, due to Coinabul's interpretation of their responsibility here, I will no longer recommend their service to others and if someone asks about them in public forums, I will warn them of this case.
89  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Wouldn't it be more fair if the bitcoins were shared equally? on: February 19, 2013, 06:15:06 AM
How would you equally distribute the coins to everyone in such a way that no one could fake the system into giving them two shares?

Per Josh, they aren't done at the bumping facility. Maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day.
91  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMER: Cablepair (Tom) from BTCFPGA.com/bitcoinasic.net on: February 13, 2013, 10:36:37 PM
Guy said he bought nothing. Good thing.

Yeah, I was pretty relieved about that. Tom is still a piece of shit.
92  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMER: Cablepair (Tom) from BTCFPGA.com/bitcoinasic.net on: February 13, 2013, 06:14:08 PM
I actually recommended a disabled guy with a limited government social income to use some of his last savings to buy 3 units from this guy.

I hope you're joking.

Unfortunately and embarrassingly, I am not.
93  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMER: Cablepair (Tom) from BTCFPGA.com/bitcoinasic.net on: February 12, 2013, 08:05:42 PM
if tom is still mining on btc guild cant we contact eleuthria and have him put a freeze on his account and any coins he mines have him put into a account to be used to pay us back lol.

There really isn't much point. I would expect that he, like most miners, has regular disbursements to his own addresses, and once he realizes the funds are frozen, he'll just make a new account or switch pools entirely.
94  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMER: Cablepair (Tom) from BTCFPGA.com/bitcoinasic.net on: February 12, 2013, 03:03:11 PM
Meanwhile I was proven right but the same shills are still here repeating that "I'm unprofessional".

Well, to their credit, you are a horrible troll.

He may have started with the best intentions, but he ended with the worst of actions. I actually recommended a disabled guy with a limited government social income to use some of his last savings to buy 3 units from this guy.
No offense, but that was a terrible idea no matter what vendor he bought from.

To be a little more specific, he had made up his mind that he was going to start mining to supplement his paltry income. It was back in October, so at that time I and others told him to stay away from GPUs because of the impending reward halving. So his option was ASIC. Again he asked for advice on who to buy from. At that time Avalon was not taking orders and BFL was acting super dodgy about their missed dates. Tom was saying the right things and offered a clear cancellation policy, so I said that he was the most likely to deliver on his promises and others chimed in with agreement. Given a guy who was dead set on mining, it was the best advice with the information at the time.

Scammer tag?
96  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should i allocate 100% of my savings to bitcoin ? on: February 06, 2013, 02:47:45 PM
Hell fuck no.  My recommendation is, as always, 5%. Anyone can stand to lose 5% and bitcoin can still tank hard to 0. But at the same time there is so much upside that a 5% investment is likely to become significant.

As a disclaimer, I did put in a large percentage of my saving into bitcoin last March, and due to btc price appreciation and very little rebalancing, it's now dominating my portfolio.
97  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: February 02, 2013, 05:01:14 PM
A lot of people are blaming Walletbit, but with the session mix ups, I'm betting that in the cases where it was .05btc, that they were fed a value of $0 because the shopping cart emptied, probably during a redirect.
98  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon is (unfortunately) a scam. Here is why. on: January 29, 2013, 07:33:31 PM
I agree that on the outside, there's no evidence for BFL and Avalon being scams. But BFL is taking orders with Paypal, which has fraud protection, and Avalon is not. I, personally, am not comfortable with this offering.

*Update: While we are confident that it will not be long until the Treasury takes the penny out of circulation and at least debases the nickel, the author of this story has apparently issued a retraction to the story.

100  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitfinex.com: transparency to much ? to little ? where is the equilibrium? on: December 19, 2012, 07:07:48 PM
I'm sorry, I don't get it. Are you asking if you should make public the addresses of people depositing and withdrawing bitcoins from bitfinex.com? I would say no. If you are asking should this be available a listing on your own account for your own transactions, then I would say "nice to have".
