the use of the term "crypto" is one of the reasons why "crypto" is such a scammy shitshow.

Crypto for cryptography.
What you're saying sounds like, "V" for "vendetta" is now "V" for "vaccine". Tongue

"crypto" is an invalid categorization which implies shitcoins belong in the same category as bitcoin.

Cryptocurrency is the word you're looking for. BTC unfortunately falls in this category - once upon a time it was alone in this category.

to noobs this false framing leads to a completely fucked up and weird understanding of the entire phenomenon. noobs tend to think about different types of "crypto" as if they were different sports teams that compete in a league or as different stocks of various companies that compete for performance. this is utter and complete bullshit.

That's why one must focus on the cryptography part.
It's also self-explanatory on why other cryptocurrencies are not really needed ever since we've had BTC.
Never forget the decentralized nature of BTC, compared to (most) alternative centralized cryptocurrencies.

either "cryptocurrency" is a valid category and only bitcoin is in it or crypto means outright scam and bitcoin does not belong in it.

But it does belong, and so do the scammy others. Totally distinct from BTC though.
The way I like to think of it, is that the sole existence of alts, is to get your BTC.

bitcoins have been taken over by the sheeple but thanks for all the fish.

You're very welcome Moby. Confirmed?
Boy have I got, [WO] conspiracy theories to tell you - the latest of which - being the Remora Theory.

Quote
In ancient times, the remora was believed to stop a ship from sailing. In Latin, remora means "delay", while the genus name Echeneis comes from Greek εχειν, echein ("to hold") and ναυς, naus ("a ship"). In a notable account by Pliny the Elder, the remora is blamed for the defeat of Mark Antony at the Battle of Actium and, indirectly, for the death of Caligula.

This ^^ at the expense of the dollar.

Read the following outlook for an easy to follow syntheses of all this: https://themarket.ch/interview/louis-gave-inflation-will-come-back-with-a-vengeance-ld.3307

Excellent piece IMO. It voices doubts the keen observer may already have started to nurse, in plain language with a bird's view.
Thanks Wekkel.

Thanks indeed.

Very interesting to read, but he doesn't mention BTC at all.
Also he cannot hide his gold bug feelings, let alone the rest:

Quote
So, in a nutshell: Buy value stocks, buy the commodities sector, and buy emerging markets. And for the antifragile part of your portfolio, buy RMB bonds and gold.

Holly shit.
Fuck me sideways:

In a world that is reflating, Japan typically does well. And in this unfolding new Cold War between the U.S. and China, Japanese industrial companies are well positioned.

Hey I got one word for you guys. Japan.
China is the front/cover/escape goat.

Ooops:

But I’d just say that the fact that the Trump Administration decided to make semiconductors the battleground in its fight with China strikes me as extremely dangerous, given the fact that the U.S. has just lost the technology leadership baton to Taiwan. That, to me, will be the most important event in 2020, more important than Covid.

+1 WO's merit!
424  Economy / Reputation / Re: Trust Violation Apology on: January 17, 2021, 08:22:14 AM
And there I thought, that I was the troll.
But it's OK, everyone and their mothers can tell that nullius has owned you both - on more occasions that you'd like to admit.

I hope you girls re-al-ize, and learn to live with that. Kiss
425  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 16, 2021, 08:41:42 AM
My thoughts are governments will start to prevent you from holding coins in your own wallets and buy 'token'
And that is exactly when I cash out.

What's stopping you from cashing out now?
I mean, ever heard of Paypal? China bans BTC? Shitcoin highway? No?

I can't think about how much that could wreck someone's life.

Ah, ain't that sweet of you.

EDIT: so, 4-9 mo to peak? it would be weird to have a cycle peak in mid September, though.

You can say that again.
I'm definitely fond of Augustus in this scenario. Wink

427  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 12, 2021, 12:15:10 PM
I would say that you need to prosecute people that break the law.

Yeah, completely fuck all the people that don't wear a mask or do vaccines, and/or like to move on this Earth as free people.

Existing laws are sufficient, they just need to be enforced.

Are you sure mother fucker? Because if not, you can always make a few laws up.

In particular, people that murder police officers who are trying to do their job need to face the full force of the law.

This is a very sensitive topic. Murder is murder of course, nothing more to add there.
But tell me, how do you fight back "the full force of the law" and subsequently the people that blissfully enforce it?
Tea?

Law throughout history, is a very interesting topic to follow.

This was an attempted militia coup, and we are all very lucky that it failed.

Do you really have to convince us?

The fact that a number of rioters were carrying large packages of zip tie restraints indicates they intended to use them.

Whatever.you.say. Mr Agent Provocateur.
428  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 12, 2021, 09:49:01 AM
Yeah... For me it's not about the left or right.

I second that.

Is society creating new waves of repressed psychopaths?

Yes, but there is nothing new about it.

What is the cause of this?

Religion, poor education, lack of critical thinking, state of the art brainwashing propaganda, AI's.

What can be done about it?

Alert others if possible?

This really needs a third panel, with something absolutely hideous, and label it BSV. I loaded a couple images up and was gonna try to put something together in Photoshop, but gotta be honest, I'm kinda working on other projects today, and, well... yeah.

growing to 56000 now, drop to 5600 after

That's the mindrust zone, where nocoiners are forged into reality. Tongue
Perhaps you can share on how it feels to be a nocoiner after so many years.
432  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 10, 2021, 07:58:05 AM
I think that I mostly agree with everything that you say here, CT.. except what is this little tingilie about holding ETH for a 4-year cycle?  Who the fuck would be suggesting anything close to that in terms of assurances?

My advice is far more sound than ct's

As he advocates holding eth and I don't

Guys, if your take was to hodl ETH, maybe you should read it again.
Holding for a few months every 4 year cycle is not hodling.

#ETH.weak.hand

Eventually this climb is going to have to end.  But it sure is a nice ride.

Not until it sucks in all noob cash apparently.
Then we correct, only to bounce back higher.
That will also teach the noobs a lesson or two I suppose.

This is the way, the natural selection of hodlers.

Sure, you are welcome to Sweden, lot of cheap houses in the north, not much else there though, except mosquitos in the summer.

Thanks, but I'm covered for the summer. It was winter I was thinking about.
You never know of course. In any case I can probably deal with mosquitos, I just love to catch them in mid air. Grin

Yeah that's pretty common. Immunity you get from being sick only lasts about 3 months. My friend had covid and she had no antibodies days after the first negative test so I suspect some peeps don't develop natural immunity at all.

Oh shit, let's vaccinate everybody ... daily! Tongue

That's exactly the reason, why social distancing is a criminal directive.
You don't get immunity in isolation. Strains attached.

I miss nully.

Yes, feeling better than ever!

Doctor said ~

Very glad to hear you are already almost recovered. It would be a pitty to "crash" now because of an unexpected health reason like that, wouldn't it?

1. He said he feels better than ever. Handle it.
2. Are you his doctor? Is lightfoot his doctor? philipma?

Doctor, doctor, and doctor. Just how many doctors are on this Earth? Tongue
