Why would someone buy a coin for which the private key has been revealed ? Have I missed something here.

Because Hybridsole can likely find anywhere from 2 to 5BTC just laying around in there somewhere. Yes he's that good. NAHHHH just joking. It's a collector's item/cool to have like Krogoth stated  Grin Grin Grin

Interested in the error coin.

Embarrassingly this is the first time I’ve ever posted on bitcointalk. I’ve been a lurker before. You can find me on twitter as @mericanhodl

I got to this thread via @melikmanukyn who said he’d vouch for me.

I’ve been needing to own one of these coins for a long damn time.

Let me know how we can make this happen.
I can vouch for Americanhodl, I know him from Twitter; and that he is serious about acquiring a Cas and have had lengthy discussions with him about them.

I'd recommend an escrow service (maybe minerjones?) to protect both parties.

@rusbitcoinuser aka melikmanukyn out here doing so much beautiful work for the BTC physicals and non physicals world(lightning etc...). He is how I was introduced to my first Casascius buys and now I'm hooked! Keep kicking ass Mel!

333  Economy / Collectibles / [WTT] Series 1 5BTC BitNickel for a Series 2 5BTC BitNickel on: June 09, 2019, 03:07:49 AM
I currently have 2 5BTC Series 1 coins. Both are ICG graded and are in excellent condition especially for being 5BTC coins. I'm interested in trading 1 of these Series 1 coins for a good to great condition Series 2 coin. Details can all be discussed including where to meet or how to get the trade done. I'm currently based in the USA but travel quite often. If you're interested in a trade like this we can easily discuss travel and trading arrangements etc....Please send me a PM if you're interested and wish to discuss further.

334  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Advice for selling funded 100 BTC Casascius gold plated bar and 25 BTC gold coin on: June 04, 2019, 06:45:47 PM

There's always someone richer, so 100BTC bars certainly are not nor will ever be completely unaffordable. It's a small market though. Something like 50% of Americans can't make an unexpected $500 payment. And USA has the highest national net wealth. I digress.

There is no "going rate" because any public auction is few and far between. I believe around 2015 Casascius (Mike) helped a friend sell a 1000BTC coin, at the time around $2 million or so. Was a public post on Collectibles. This is all pure recall so details may be off by quite a bit. Someone else would need to confirm.

Easiest is to simply create an auction here. You would be better off using your original account with established history/reputation. It would also help to have a PGP signed custody history from Casascius (proving he sold the bar to you directly).

Thank you for the response. Fortunately I have my original emails with Mike saved, and made the purchase with my real name, so there is a good paper trail. It seems like setting up an auction will be the way to go, my only concern being that the tiny group who would be interested might not see it because they very well may not be actively looking. I'll keep looking at what people have done for the smaller denomination coins and plan on emulating that.

Agreed with everything here. Can you post pics of said bar please just while you’re doing your own research and information gathering? Would be nice to see what it is your selling in actual photo format. Thanks for the consideration.

BUMP.....

Also I happen to like "Dawn of Bitcoin" better than Bitcoin Dawn. Anyone else feeling that? Dawn of Bitcoin just rolls of the tongue better for me personally. Just trying to add value here.

Hi,
You're far better off just posting pics here with your screen name and the date along with the coins you're trying to sell or get price discovery on themselves to prove your ownership of those coins.
Then if you don't mind it would be much more respectful and a a show of good faith for you to delete your post in the thread that was started by Monkey Nuts and was dedicated to a previous member of this forum who was beloved by everyone in Zephr. I hope you can understand our point of view and we all wish you luck with your sale but you need to show some respect first.

Hi James,
Don't be so sound rude but this isn't the thread for this message. Please just post it under the usual collectibles forum and I'm sure you'll have plenty of interest and hopefully you get everything you're looking for. However this isn't the thread to bump to sell your items with all due respect. All the best! May Zeph RIP!

340  Economy / Collectibles / Re: What's the best way to SHIP physical bitcoins internationally? on: May 29, 2019, 04:36:33 AM
use lolstralia post ems express international 500g satchels.

have used them multiple times for high value items and never had any issues, also traceable at the destination carrier as they cross the border.

If you're in Australia definitely listen to Dozerz. He shipped me a coin from Australia and it arrived in the USA amazingly quick with no issues whatsoever. I was shocked to see how convenient and secure the shipping was from Australia to USA. He definitely knows what he's doing. Good luck!
