341  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 2012 Series 1 5BTC BitNickel "Error" vs the 2012 Series 2 5BTC BitNickel on: May 28, 2019, 07:19:51 PM
Thanks for making this thread HK! I am sure many had the same questions you had but never voiced it. Cheers!  Wink
My pleasure my friend. I've had numerous talks with Lesbian Cow over this topic and I COMPLETELY understand his points. He prefers the S2. I don't blame him. It's a personal preference and rightfully so. I find the S2 stunning as well likely due to the upgraded hologram. I guess what I'm truly trying to say here is I find that ALL Bit Nickels are spectacular coins. It's a honor to be able to just own even one. Much like the 25btc coins that don't command a premium but in my my opinion they should at least get a bit more than the love they get now. So what their not the sexiest coin out there. Who cares?!!!!!!...But that's a different topic for different day! Thank you all for the feedback! Keep it coming. This is EXACTLY why I love this community! Ask away and ye shall receive!!! My kinda place!

Hi All,
All great points and kinda in line with what I expected and would have expected when I asked the question. I just figured its best to always get the overall community's feedback and thoughts. The more info the better in my eyes. I also think it's strange they were never a big hit in terms of premiums but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I personally love the 5's. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and please feel free to continue to share your thoughts opinions or add ons as they come to you. Cheers all!

343  Economy / Collectibles / 2012 Series 1 5BTC BitNickel "Error" vs the 2012 Series 2 5BTC BitNickel on: May 28, 2019, 12:59:18 AM
So according to the Elias Ahonen manual the Series 2 is a bit rarer. According to the best website tool to check for peeled Casascius coins the Series 2 is also still a bit rarer than the Series 1 coin as can be seen here....https://casascius.ludvigart.com/status/

My question is what are your thoughts on the the Series 1 vs Series 2 5BTC BitNickel coins? The Series 1 is an "error" coin so you can use that or don't use that in your thoughts and feedback. I plan to acquire both. My question here is what is more valuable in your mind and why? The more details and information provided the better and certainly more appreciated. I think both 5BTC coins are seriously undervalued and underrated. These are spectacular coins both series. Please give me your thoughts as I am looking so forward to getting every bit of feedback I can regarding both of these special beauties! Thanks in advance and again here is the book from Elias Ahonen link so you can compare to the best tool listed above that tracks everything in real time. The book Elias wrote while outstanding is a bit out of date. Thanks in advance.

Links....
Best tool I've found to track everything Casascius in real time: https://casascius.ludvigart.com/status/
Feel free to do just more than look at what I'm asking as this site offers it ALL from A-Z Casascius related! I only linked one function of the tool which provides endless functionality.

And here's the link to the Elias Ahonen book that is amazing but a bit outdated now. Still a very incredible book from a guy with a plethora of knowledge and a true physical collectible asset with a great reputation:
https://www.cryptonumist.com.

Apparently he has a new book coming out pretty soon which I recommend everyone buy if interested in any sort of physical coins!

Looking forward to any and all feedback and constructive criticism. Thanks for your time.

Bitcoin: In all it's glory

Bitcoin: A new day and a better tomorrow!

Bitcoin: United we verify united we prosper!

Satoshi's white paper. This is Bitcoins colorful or abstract paper!

Just adding some thoughts that come to mind. Happy to keep thinking out loud. Cheers

Love the painting and I hope you make prints available for those (like me) who would like to have one hanging in my office  Wink
Personally, I think "Bitcoin" shouldn't be in the name since it's the obvious focus of the painting.

Anyways, I like the "A New Dawn" suggestion from MJ. Perfect representation of whats going on in the painting. Has a good ring to it too.

I agree with everything in this post. I love the painting. It's an amazing piece. Great work through and through!! I also like the name "A New Dawn" from MJ. It certainly has a nice ring to it.
I however wish to continue to read others thoughts and opinions especially from as many random countries people as possible. Being that we all can speak English on these boards for the most part there's many different slangs and ways to say many different variations of the English language. So someone from say the UK or Australia could see something as being very boring while the other thinks it comes across as very unique and is very applicable to the painting. So the more feedback we can receive from as many different people from as many parts of the world I believe we'll then be able to narrow it down to a top 3-5 names and then maybe we vote on those top 3 or so best names! This is kinda my thoughts on the matter being that English is not a one size fits all language and I actually think that could add some cool mystique to the name that we eventually do come up with. Just thinking out loud here. But have no worries we will get the best name soon enough! Cheers everyone!

351  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius and Lealana Physical Bitcoins & Litecoins for sale – UK Based Seller on: May 26, 2019, 12:55:20 AM
You are forgetting BSV, the 2nd most valuable fork behind BCH.  I would argue that everything below Bitcoin Gold is not worth redeeming or even mentioning. There is no liquidity and very few people would have accounts at exchanges that are trading Bitcoin Private, for example.  It's just not worth time to a. find a compatible wallet, b. sync the blockchain, c. claim the forked coins, d. sign up to sketchy altcoin exchange, and e. convert to a minimal amount of BTC.  Some exchanges will not let you trade/withdraw anything that doesn't meet a minimum amount, so there's a good chance it's a total waste of time.

Just count the BTC + BCH + BSV and be done with it.  Anyone who was doing this math and paid for these forks on a Casascius coin during the pump and dumps of 2017-2018 ended up losing money, because they were not able to peel and redeem any of that value.  There's no buyer who buys a Casascius coin with the plan to peel it, so in reality none of this will ever come into play for a buyer.  It's mostly for the seller to try and over-emphasize what a buyer is receiving at a single point in time.  If you instead emphasize the collector value, scarcity and BTC appreciation potential, it comes across as much more genuine.

This is one of the best posts I've read in a while. Brilliantly stated Hybridsole. It's posts like this that educate so many people.
PS: Nice work from No_2 for adding it all up because it's absolutely worth knowing, but no doubt Hybrid came up with the absolute most effective and efficient outcome if anyone were to ever peel to begin with which most are not. Thanks for the posts gents!

Welcome to the collectable section, you've come to the right place for what you are looking for.  As far as escrow you have some of the best escrow agents on this forum who are active in this sub, make sure to check to see if the escrow agent is a respected member before you follow through to protect yourself.  Make sure to check trust ratings left by other respected members here that should give you a good idea of who you can trust and who you should proceed with a little more caution before making a purchase.  Enjoy your time here its addicting Smiley

I couldn't agree more. Welcome and I wish you good luck in finding the pieces you're looking for. You definitely found the proper place. I am kind of new here myself but this has become my 2nd home since I've discovered this wonderful community. Do your research and I'm sure plenty of established community members will be able to help you with anything and everything you need. All the best!
