QUOTE:
yes! money-for-nothing! come and get it. no risk involved...
crypto-hype.

Responsible forum posting can stop people taking risks they don't fully understand, which I think the OP is being encouraged to do on this thread by *some* others.

It is NOT money for free, considering the investor must post funds that are at risk to various factors and also pays the opportunity cost of being unable to invest elsewhere.

In general, your opinions will receive greater respect if you provide solid evidence, research and logic. I'd recommend that in the future.

Exactly my point that this is *not* money for free.
I agree 100% that there are various layers of risk involved in these schemes, and good to see someone else call them out on this thread.

On a side note, I think solid posting history is another way to build credibility on forums. Good luck building that up after your first ever post.
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the features you want most in a sportsbook? on: January 26, 2019, 11:39:53 AM
Some casinos (at least some local ones) don't let's you to take different odds from one game. For example I mean let's take FC Barcelona - Arsenal <---- Bet on 1, number of goals over 2.5, number of corners over 9.5, number of cards, all of these from one game.
Also cashout will be great, function of editing bets before game starts (to add or remove game). Also promotions like 100% cashback if 1 bet loses from 5 one, 150% cashback if one loses from 6 and something similar.

In fiat betting, you can never make parlay (multiples) bets on markets in the same match, like your example.
This is due to what is called "related contingencies" - which means that the odds on the second (third. fourth, fifth) bet in your parlay would have been different if you would have known the result of the first bet.
So I don't think it is reasonable to expect this functionality in BTC sportsbooks.... do you know if it is offered anywhere? I would be surprised.
(*UNLESS* the sportsbook modifies the odds of same-match bets put in a parlay... but that would be very complicated.. and not a lot of demand for it..?)
Even in parlay games they usually do not allow you to bet on the same game. For example, you can play on 3 different matches and parlay them together and have 1 bet on all three and that is parlay for you, that you can do everywhere. However, if you wanted to do parlay with one game but different 3 bets they do not allow you to do that. That is like that in almost all sportsbooks all around the world. That is a big miss but also that is a way of sportbook keeping itself safe.

Exactly.

ah, it's a screenshot! lol
OK, i see that these are not user-defined parlays - they are sportsbook-defined parlays, and therefore pretty juiced, just like the classic CorrectScore-FirstGoalScorer bets. But thanks for the link. I wonder how much action sportsbooks see on these kinds of bets...?

There are specific markets that exist for some of those options. Here's an example of some of them on Betcoin for the Man U - Arsenal match later today

Sorry, didn't see that until now - I assume that the markets you link to were "specials", i.e. created by the bookmaker, like the classic "First GoalScorer-CorrectScore" bets with insanely bad odds? Or did the link allow user-defined single Event parlay opportunities?

leaving the ponzi scheme argument to one side for a moment, i would suggest that there are only two kinds of casino-funding schemes to get involved in:

1. Venture Capital investment (which requires full KYC and is not really open to mere mortals like us)
2. Fully trustless (i.e. 100% code-based) public blockchain solutions.

Even then 2 can be dubious unless you are really knowledgeable about the blockchain in question.

No offense, it's a decent enough thread, but I think OP is still stuck in crypto-hype bubble mode of early 2017-18. Money for nothing and your chicks for free...

what crypto-hype are you talking about?
this is a simple casino bankroll investment, he wants to get his coins work for him instead of gathering dust in the wallet
I think you don't have any idea how investments work, since there is no blockchain involved
you deposit your coins and get a share of a global bankroll ,simple as that
and venture capital investment , like , seriously  Grin

the crypto-hype that saw money-for-nothing pump-n-dump get-rich-quick-by-just-buying-into-an-ICO... i.e. 99% of coins.
the crypto-hype that saw retail buyers "investing" in BTC at 18K+
you know, 2017 and 2018...

>>you deposit your coins and get a share of a global bankroll ,simple as that

yes! money-for-nothing! come and get it. no risk involved...

Slightly off-topic, but I think there is room for a sports betting hedge fund in the crypto space - people invest in a (group?) tipster/handicapper with a proven record in one or more sports. the problem is finding realistic mechanisms for bringing trust to the situation - the hedge fund manager needs to have something on the line to prevent running off with money.

190  Economy / Gambling / Re: Overview of Bitcoin Accepting Sportsbooks (with margin/house edge comparisons) on: January 23, 2019, 10:23:15 AM
Most of my play is with Nitrogen, Betcoin and Bitcoinrush. There are reasons to play at all three such as limits, withdrawal times, markets both pregame and live. The hold on NFL sides with Nitrogen (2.69%) and Bitcoinrush (2.67%) are almost identical and Betcoin is the best for EPL and other major European soccer.

Those 3 are definitely the best books as far as safety in getting paid and not being hassled with KYC.
Seriously asking for KYC on a gambling website is the stupidest thing anyone can do.

Are these people unaware of their customers so much that they would ask KYC to begin with ?
I mean most of us come from countries where gambling is illegal and that is why we gamble in crypto currency instead of fiat, online gambling is not something I prefer to do but I have to do considering its not allowed in my country, so instead of illegally gamble here, I am going to give all my info to crypto casinos and get caught gambling because I accepted the casinos KYC deal and gave them all my information? Not a chance.

About the similarity on the odds, I think working on 3 different sportsbook is a bit tiring and I usually opt for just one even if they have worse odds in couple games but not all, if it is worse odds on everything than I don't deal with it.

completely agree with the above.
KYC is missing the point completely and makes you wonder... if they misunderstand that so badly.... what hope is there for the rest of their business? Agree also that value hunting every last 0.1% can sometimes play second fiddle to simple time saved by using one sportsbook. sometimes my time is worth more than the extra edge i can get with swapping another sportsbook.
191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: December 12, 2018, 11:47:12 AM
Inter lost a great chance yesterday, they took PSV too easily and as a result they are out of the Champions League now. Tottenham scored one of the most beautiful goals in the season so far although no one expected Tottenham to draw Barcelona yesterday as Barcelona was playing really good and they didn't care about the position of Inter and Tottenham.

fair points. but Spurs played really well, never gave up, made a boatload of chances. i was impressed and happy to see them go through, good young attacking side.

new user here, interesting thread, feeing a bit overwhelmed by all the choice.
pretty mad forum really, so much talk of scams, doesn't really instill confidence.
have bet a lot in fiat, sportsbooks and exchanges especially. looking for reliable sportsbooks to begin with, any tips appreciated, especially backed up by good reasons. cheers

No worries! There's certainly plenty of scams out there, but it's relatively easy to see what books are a scam at a glance after some time on this forum, and there's plenty of information on this forum that can help you figure out whether a casino is legitimate or not.

Some sportsbooks I would start with include Nitrogensports.eu (click here), Cloudbet, and Bitcoinrush. These sites are all legitimate AFAIK. I've used both Cloudbet and Nitrogensports with no issues in the past, although I don't have much experience on Bitcoinrush.

superb, thank you. NitrogenSports seems an obvious one to try from what i've seen already. Cloudbet has a bit of fud on their thread but i think that's to be expected, there's always people wanting to cause a fuss lol. will check out Bitcoinrush as well.

have been reading up on checking licenses, curacao, etc. Nitrogen don't seem to have a license at all (shows Costa Rica, which I think is not a betting license, just a business license). is that an issue i should be worried about? appreciate your help.
193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The key reason for gambling on: December 11, 2018, 10:06:19 PM
To be honest, before, my goal was to really earn money. But thankfully, I was able to learn it early that I won't or I will be really having a hard time if that is my goal because there is always the house edge advantage.

However, I still do gamble sometimes, but these times, I only do it for fun especially if my team is playing. I gamble in basketball game.

I agree, I think it's how a lot of us get started - we think we can make easy money, and when we realize we can't, or that it's not easy money (it's really hard lol), then we are still stuck with the bug and do it for fun. hopefully not losing too much, just the same as going to mcdonalds lol. i would say that using a betting exchange like betfair brought a lot more depth to it than just sportsbook. backing and laying, watching how the markets move in real time, very interesting. good thread!
cheers
