Bitcoin cannot replace the credit card today, simply because of it's 10 minute transaction time. Impractical in real world situations especially since it takes a few seconds(1-3) for you to be able to transfer money on a credit card, unlike Bitcoins 10-40minute wait...
Really? Because I can transfer BTC just as quickly as I can make a purchase with a credit card. The fact that my Bitcoins appear in my wallet BEFORE the Blockchain verifies the transaction is actually one of Bitcoins strengths. Ever seen "pending deposits" on your bank account? You know, the ones that can take days to clear before you actually get your money? Fuck that. I WANT MY BTC!!!  |

As much I like Coinbase I would never tell anyone to trust online wallets with their BTC. First you need to download a wallet on your computer, its not hard really. Multibit, or Armory would be good. Then transfer all your BTC to your offline wallet. Now you can make your PDF backup. A word about Multibit. It does not, I believe, come with an option to encrypt itself so you would probably want to store it in an encrypted container like a file generated by True Crypt. I hear there are other encrypted container making software out there too. |

As I see it until the whole situation about mtgox and satoshi are not determined the prices won't be stable and won't rise as well
I don't get this, "determined", people who were knee deep in Gox need to pull their head out of the sand and realize your coins are gone and are never coming back, move on, I know it is upsetting but it's not fair to drag the rest of the market down and everyone else's money too with endless speculations and worrying because they were foolish to use a known shady exchange as a crypto bank. dude, you don't get it. I have never invested a dime in mt gox, but I know that if the money isn't found or the system doesn't compensates for the protocol flaw that the whole system is useless. Useless as in worthless! It's not about 'it happened, pick yourself up and move-on' this is total destruction or total change. The system cannot scale in its present form, at this point the protocol is too insecure. There is no meaningful security. What occurred to Mt Gox could happen to ANY exchange at anytime, how do you expect anyone to operate with that level of insecurity -- they don't and that is why volume is shrinking and system vendors are giving up left and right. You realize that if someone had stolen cash from you it would be even harder, almost impossible, for the government to ever track it down for you? That's just the way it is. Some common sense tells people not to keep lots of cash in places thieves are known to have easy access to, like your pocket for example. How about you just take these common sense steps to protect yourself. 1. Don't use a cloud wallet. Ever. Buy your BTC from Coinbase and withdraw it to your phone/PC immediately. 2. Don't give out your private keys. Ever. 3. Don't expect a bail out if you decide to risk violating rules 1 and 2 just because they're convient. Sorry, but your not to big to fail. Get the fuck over it. |

Makes sense, there are endless possilities. But in my opinion, the direction this is going is that Dorian Nakamoto is indeed Satoshi. I mean, imagine if you worked on classified things for the U.S government, I'm sure that they'd make you sign a non disclosure agreement..
He confirmed himself that he is made to sign NDA agreements for his (definitely not Bitcoin) classified projects that he has worked on, as though something inside of him is screaming to let the world know that it is him, he is the smart one, he is the genius.Really? Cuz I just heard him scream for a free lunch. |

This only makes it more likely that he is Dorian Nakamoto. Otherwise why pop up now? All these years the forums have been chock full of people speculating and naming everyone under the sun as Nakamoto. Why speak up now?
Because these forums don't even register on the mainstream media's radar, that's why. |

Usually when I see bitcoin mentioned it is negative, the reporter will state the swing in values, and that is it.
The last time I saw it mentioned (last week maybe: on fox) the reporter said something along the lines of he didn't understand bitcoin, but he sees that it has value due to a limited supply. I took that as a win lol.
Lol! Doesn't BTC have value because of high demand though? I mean if it was because of supply it should be going down since new Bitcoins are being mined all the time. |
