As structured and implemented the plan creates conflicting interests.
If you want the cryptocurrency (CC) fund the non-profit (NP) the two should not be put in a position where they overlap or compete for attention.
The two cannot be in competition, they are both an integral part of this project. One could not exist without the other. They are two sides of the same coin. My understanding of how the CC was to fund the NP was essentially via a 2% mining tax of sorts, and from that fund the grants would be funded. In such a case, there is no conflict because there is no overlap. However, if the NP desires to raise funds via the CC over and above the way indicated, interests begin to compete.
Yes, as stated in the OP and reiterated over the past two months, 2% of each mined block goes to a central fund, then the community decides what science project to sponsor at the end of each month. Here are some conflicting interests:
1) Currency Conflict - Grant should be paid in EMC2; if provide a grant in USD, CAD or anything other than EMC2 you decreased the value of the CC from the very start. If the recipient wants to dump it (cash the check) it's up to them. if so it will be immediate and reflected in the market as a dip instead of a permanent market depression.
That is impossible for the same reason bitcoin grants are impossible in the currency technological and economical situation. One cannot buy real world assets with bitcoin (beyond a small and growing network of companies that have little to do with science related elements) thus they cannot buy with EMC2. Beyond this, those major retailers you see accepting bitcoin, they don't store it, they convert it to USD, because USD is a globally accepted currency that can provide more than fractured services. It can do that because it is a globally recognized currency endorsed by the U.S. Government. We always suggest to and encourage our grant winners to accept it in EMC2 if not the total sum at least some partial amount. However, until the social, economic and technological impairments are removed and CC are accepted and recognized in important markets not only in small ones, we are forced by need to provide it in USD. 2) Liquidity Conflict - Grant should be from available funds; if only X EMC2 is available, yet the 'goal' for a particular project is 10X EMC2, the project goal should not impact the extent of the original funding plan otherwise the likely way it will be gathered via CC is accepting more CC donations to immediately dump for cash (btc, USD, CAD, etc). Protracted cash-outs result in a strangulation of the CC If the specific purpose of the donation is to cash it out, ask for the end purpose currency or make the request of all CCs (not just EMC2) in this way the CC damage is mitigated.
Grants always come from available funds, the available funds are represented by the total amount of coins mined into existence, be it EMC2/LTC/DOGE/BTC. What you're describing is the basic mechanism of profit in the CC scene. It's not related to Einsteinium in any way, it's related to the whole digital currency scene everyone here is part of. 3) Attention Conflict- At this point in the fundraiser the focal subject is the specific project funded by the CC, not the health of the CC funding the project and future projects. The cash-cow is ill, it needs to recuperate you've got to stop milking it for a while.
This does not make sense, the coin and the foundation are the same part of a bigger structure, they are mutually dependent. It should also be noted that fundraisers are critical to marketing and the very concept behind the Einsteinium foundation. Edit: Here's a short update, CoinJoint wrote an article about us! Show them your appreciation by reading it and/or sharing it. http://coinjoint.info/einsteiniums-second-epoch-funds-diabetic-wound-treatment/

Send some other coins too to keep EMC2 from selling and buying instead.
Yes, everyone should keep in mind that were taking multiple digital currencies for this project. We just started a new thread here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=593630.msg6514785#msg6514785 so everyone can sees and gets in on the action. If you already donated then I urge you to post on that thread what coin you donated and how much. If you wish you can just say that you donated too, you don't need to disclose the donation amount. We know you'll all come out in force for this one!

Hey everyone. The einsteinium team is currently running a fundraiser for our latest winner Dr. Theresa O’Keefe from Mend Therapeutics. Dr. O'keefe and her team opened a NPO pharmaceutical company to help build open access (open source) affordable medicine for the 100's of millions of people who don't have any insurance or in some cases even access to any healthcare! They're currently working on a special project aimed at helping those who suffer from some of the terrible complications of diabetes. If any of you have family members or friends who are diabetic then you'll know what kind of compilations can occur due to the illness. Here is a short list for those who are unaware and would like to know: Heart disease People with diabetes are at very high risk of heart disease, also known as cardiovascular disease (CVD) and stroke (cerebrovascular disease).
Kidney disease Over the years, high blood glucose (sugar) levels and high blood pressure can damage the kidneys and prevent them from functioning properly or even cause them to fail completely. About one-third of people who have had diabetes for more than 15 years will develop kidney disease, but good diabetes management and regular screening can prevent or delay the loss of kidney function.
Eye disease (diabetic retinopathy) This effect of diabetes on the eyes is the most common cause of blindness in people age 65 years and younger and the most common cause of new blindness in North America. It is estimated that approximately two million individuals in Canada have some form of diabetic retinopathy.
Nerve damage Diabetes affects the circulation and immune systems which, in turn, impairs the body’s ability to heal itself. Over time, diabetes can damage sensory nerves (this is known as “neuropathy”), especially in the hands and feet. As a result, people with diabetes are less likely to feel a foot injury, such as a blister or a cut. Unnoticed and untreated, even small foot injuries like these can quickly become infected, potentially leading to serious complications like amputation. Seven of 10 non-traumatic limb amputations are the result of diabetes complications.
Problems with erection (impotence) Although erectile dysfunction (ED) affects most men at some point in their lives, it is more common in men with diabetes. In fact, in up to 12 per cent of men with diabetes, ED is the first sign that leads to the diagnosis of diabetes. Older men with a longer duration of diabetes, poor blood glucose (sugar) control, and those who smoke, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease, are at highest risk.
Depression Approximately 25 per cent of people with diabetes suffer from depression. This list could go on forever. Now its true, most of the people effected are lower and middle class people but these are the ones that need help the most. Diabetes affects well over 300 million people worldwide with some estimates I've seen as high as half a BILLION people. Dr. O'keefe is currently running a fundraiser on experiment.com ( https://experiment.com/projects/building-an-affordable-drug-for-diabetic-wounds) As she was our second winner, the Einsteinium Foundation has already made a donation in the amount of $1500 with that money coming from the 2% built in donation through the process of EMC2 mining. Were still a long way to go to fully fund her project (+/- 10K) but we think its possible. Not only do we think its possible, so does the team at experiment.com. They have allowed us to post crypto donation addresses to our latest winners project. Is this experiment.com testing the waters to see how the response is? who knows! But we as a community should come out in force to not only show that we consist of warm, kind, respectful people who take pleasure in helping others but also to show our support for experiment.com and their openness to taking crypto in general. We have chosen four digital currencies to take during this fundraiser and we chose them based on ease of conversion and community support. Einsteinium(EMC2): EUk9Vq9JjQzE8MswbEUhcCLLnVbU66cDn7 Dogecoin: DSg5LrsVcd16AZ4HN5moFxi3aep3ugoDvE Bitcoin: 1L1hgwf7NScWtBQotRLiYoczm4w2UDbDrU Litecoin: Lhjwa8Q8HqQppq6nzB4rVEpvod1oaUVVv2 (These addresses can also be found on the experiment.com Mend Therapeutics project) Any and all funds raised, will be donated to Mend Therapeutic even if the goal is not reached. These funds will be put away and held by Mend until the remaining funds for this project can be acquired. I ask you from the bottom of my atom riddled heart. Lets make this happen. Show your support to experiment, Mend, and diabetes all at the same time. Thanks for your time and donations!

AMAZING NEWS
Good afternoon wonderful EMC2 community, I'm here today to bring you guys some amazing news. New exchange just added,https://www.vaultofsatoshi.com has added EMC2. This is the first exchange to offer emc2 in USD and CAD trading pairs. I personally urge our community to sign up, and start placing buy and sell orders. Lets show VOS our support. Fundraiser,In a few hours the team will be out in force pushing a fundraiser for our most recent winner Dr. Theresa O’Keefe from Mend Therapeutics, her project https://experiment.com/projects/building-an-affordable-drug-for-diabetic-wounds was the winner and has won $1500 so far but still needs to reach their goal. We strongly believe in the crypto community and are going out on a limb here that between our community and a few others we can make this happen and reach the total project funding of $13,743. Not only do we believe it can happen, but so does www.experiment.com. So much so that when we approached them to ask if they would be willing to go out of their way to add some donation addresses to our winners project (which is not the norm btw) they agreed and got to it right away. We had to figure out which coins we would want to accept as donation for this project and we came up with 4 coins based on ease of fiat conversion and support. The doge coin community has been fully supportive of us so its only natural that we'll look to them to help us on this mission. Here are the addresses in case you guys want to start donating before we officially start promoting the fundraiser Einsteinium(EMC2): EUk9Vq9JjQzE8MswbEUhcCLLnVbU66cDn7Dogecoin: DSg5LrsVcd16AZ4HN5moFxi3aep3ugoDvEBitcoin: 1L1hgwf7NScWtBQotRLiYoczm4w2UDbDrU Litecoin: Lhjwa8Q8HqQppq6nzB4rVEpvod1oaUVVv2(these wallets are being held by Christie AKA Praxiscat who is also the CFO of the Einsteinium Foundation) Please show your support for Vault Of Satoshi, experiment.com and our winner by creating accounts, donating, tweeting, posting and getting the word out. We only have a few days to do this but we can make it happen! we have faith in this community and its that faith that keeps us working daily to bring EMC2 to the mainstream. Happy mining & trading! I figured some of you may want to help out and donate some doge to help poor people all over the world who cant afford diabetic wound treatment. Thanks Shibes!

Hello wonderful cryptocoin community. I am here today to ask for some help. In a few hours the einsteinim team will be out in force pushing a fundraiser for our most recent winner Dr. A little info on Mend Therapeutics "Mend Therapeutics is creating AFFORDABLE drugs for the World’s 371 Mill diabetics who don’t have health insurance. Diabetic complications are catastrophic and include non-healing wounds leading to amputation. We want to develop a protein for diabetic wounds that can be manufactured at low cost, an important step in creating an affordable drug. If all patients, irrespective of economic status, can afford medications, they have a brighter future." Not only do we believe we can raise the $10,000, but so does www.experiment.com. So much so that when we approached them to ask if they would be willing to go out of their way to add some cryptocoin donation addresses to our winners project (which is not the norm btw) they agreed and got to it right away. Over 300 million people worldwide are affected by diabetes, so we are very excited about this non-profit research project and beleive affordable drugs could help many people. We have many questions for our latest Epoch winner. Firstly, will this be a medication that diabetes sufferers will need to take for their entire life? Has there been shown to be any negative side-effects or toxicities at high or excessive doses? Also, do you plan to develop drugs for other similar diseases in the future? It has also been noticed that you plan to work on screening and prevention of this disease and its subsequent problems, can you delve into more details on how you plan to accomplish this?We are sure you have tons of more question, please come join the AMA today at 1pm EST ( http://www.reddit.com/r/science/comments/24g2jd/science_ama_series_we_want_to_make_affordable/). Check out this website https://experiment.com/projects/building-an-affordable-drug-for-diabetic-wounds to help out. You will be able to give to the project directly with the EMC2 currency (wallet code available on Experiment.com during the AMA). As of right now, over $1,500 dollars has already been raised by the einsteinium community, yet there is still a long way to go! We are reaching out to other digital currency communities for their support. We really appreciate everything the dogecoin community has done for charity and philanthropy. Great write up on altcoins, including EMC2. http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=a_massive_investigation_of_instamines_and_fastmines_for_the_top_alt_coinsEinsteinium Einsteinium is a cryptocurrency that has a scientific Foundation alongside the coin's creation, The Einsteinium Foundation, intended to fund scientific research. They plan to do this by requiring 2.5% of all mined currency to be automatically devoted to the Einsteinium Foundation's coffers. Einsteinium has some bizarre coin mechanisms that make a traditional mining assessment such as we have done here difficult. They use something called “wormhole mechanics”, a gimic really, where a random 180 blocks will be mined at a special 2593 EMC2 coin rate. Coins are currently mined at a rate of 512 coins per block 54). The first round of blocks received 10747 (I know, there are some errors)coins per block. Because of the aforementioned strange methods of altering the mining amounts, we cannot use our traditional method. By looking at screenshots of www.coinmarketcap.com, we can get an idea of how many coins were mined early. The first block shows a date of March 1st, 2014 at 6 pm. The earliest we see EMC2 on the leaderboard is March 19th, showing some 27 million EMC2 created by that point. One day later, on March 20th, we can see a coin increase of around 1.7 million EMC2… The next available screenshot of www.coinmarketcap.com isn't until March 26th… http://i61.tinypic.com/2vjy6c5.png}{{http://i61.tinypic.com/2vjy6c5.png}}What does this tell us? There will be a little less than 300 million EMC2 produced in time. From March 1st to April 11th, 60 million EMC2 were produced. It's hard to tell what this means exactly. Less than 20% of the coins were created in a month. That seems a little bit problematic. It's not an instamine but it kind of feels like a fast mine. Yet, the coin increases it's “wormhole” event probability as the coin's life goes on, which means by the time the end of the coin production phase nears, there will be wormhole events (i.e. blocks equaling a large 2593 EMCs) all the time. This certainly gives back some advantage from the early adopters and benefits late adopters, a commendable position. But wouldn't giving too much advantage to the late comers be just as unhelpful as giving too much advantage to the first adopters? In addition to their scientific foundation, it is hard to say how to categorize this “ethical” currency in relation to its mining practices. All in all, ethical coins should be encouraged. We want the cryptocurrency revolution to be more than just making money. But we need to keep our guard up at all times, even if initial reports show that a certain coin appears to be okay.

How much is this picture worth? 1 000 000 EMC2 for sure I'd say that was worth a little more then 1 000 000 EMC2. He looks so relaxed in the photo, I'd give it 1 000 000 EMC2 and 21 000 000 BTC!
