Anyone here have any experience in coding for mounting an exchange as mintpal? How much it would cost for a project for 3 - 5 different currencies?

I'm from Brazil and would like to open my own exchange, the market in Brazil is still an embryo, we have about 5 nice Brazilian exchanges but the people is a little slow, they only focuses on BTC and LTC. I want to focus on the future "Blackcoin".

If you have someone interested in working on it, please let me know to discuss values.

Determine a reasonable budget for the project and then post the project on Freelancer.com or Guru.com.

BlackCoin Community Plan

As promised I came up with a basic plan that we all can build upon over time. I think as a community need to be on the same page to achieve our common goal to make BlackCoin  #1.
Before starting I was going to put this into a PDF and I decided to post it here so everyone can add whatever suggestions and comments to the plan. This is very long so please take a few minutes to read it.

Introduction:
Over the past few weeks this community has accomplished some amazing things in the name of BlackCoin, but lately we have lost focus on our main goal of making BlackCoin #1. Some of us have been conducting ourselves like juveniles on this forum, including myself. The first thing that needs to change around here is our decorum. We cannot continue to act the way we have been acting. There are some very talented and intelligent individuals here , and we do not have to attack each other to get our point across. We can have intense debates and still be respectful of each other. If and when trolls do enter our thread, we have to adopt a no tolerance policy. Do not quote them and kindly ask them to refrain from posting FUD. Do not aggressively engage or argue with them. This thread is key to attracting new talent and investors, and it needs to remain open but it also needs to remain fairly professional.

Mission:
Everyone keeps making the mistake of suggesting we can be the next Bitcoin. I do not want to be the next Bitcoin. In the eyes of the world Bitcoin doesn't exist. Yes we know about Bitcoin, and maybe 1 or 2 million people know about Bitcoin. However, if you ask 20 random people on the street if they know what Bitcoin is, I am willing to bet at least 19 of them would not have a clue what Bitcoin is. So although Bitcoin was the first, there is a very good opportunity to become the standard crypto-currency everyone knows and uses. There have been many examples in recent history when the first product to market is overshadowed by the newcomer because the newcomer had better marketing and branding.

Our mission is to strive to be the most recognized and used crypto-currency in the world.

Structure:
This is a hard one. BlackCoin is not a corporation and it will never be a corporation. It is a community funded project with many moving parts. However, it seems to have turned into a central organization with a community that has limited say. There are major issues with this approach but I will not address that now. Moving forward I propose we decentralize BlackCoin and turn it back into a community controlled project.

1. The development team focuses on development and the technical aspect of BlackCoin

2. The BlackCoin foundation focuses on supporting projects and whatever else they feel passionate about.

3. The community focuses on building the brand and handling the business side of BlackCoin. No one person or small group should decide the fate of BlackCoin.

I own the domain GoBlackCoin.com and we can turn that into a community hub for discussions, new ideas, projects, events,  and everything else related to BlackCoin. We can have tutorials, market info,...etc..etc. Senior members of the BlackCoin community can be admins and mods. it will be a complete social network for the BlackCoin community. I can have that up and running by mid June.

Technology:
The current BlackCoin client is based off the original Bitcoin client. We should begin to move forward with a more unique design that is tailored more for BlackCoin. Every wallet client is pretty much a carbon copy of the previous client with little differences here and there. It is hard to portray unique and innovative when the software for the wallet is similar in design to every other wallet.

Using BlackCoin at retail locations will be made easier using CoinKite, but I must admit I think cypto is going backwards with this approach. Using cards and terminals to make purchases is 20th century technology, and I have no idea why the currency of the future needs to use redesigned 20th century technology. Google has it right with their technology using an ordinary smart phone to make purchases.

We need to make it easier and cost effective for any merchant to accept BlackCoins without the hassle of extra terminals and cards. There are tons of locations that already support Google's technology, and maybe we need to tie into that network somehow.

Marketing & Brand Awareness:
We have already  proven that press releases have a positive effect on getting investors excited and garnering the attention of the crypto-community. But there is so much more we can be doing
a) Social media should be a top priority. We have members who have graciously offered to Tweet regularly and upload photos to Instagram. We must utilize every aspect of social media.

b) Events will be crucial to building brand awareness. The Wall Street event is just one example of how we need to be creative and think out the box. We need to sponsor small concerts, raise money for charities,  and sponsor high profile non-crypto related events

c) Traditional print ads in magazines is an option we will need to explore. Bitcoin placed an ad in Wired Magazine. That was a good idea but I would have opted for one of the financial magazines first. We need to go where the money is, and financial magazines is where we need to be.

d) Times Square billboard! Yes we need to go big! At this time it is not feasible to buy a billboard in Times Square, but as the marketcap of BlackCoin increases we can have a BlackCoin billboard in the middle of Times Square.

e) Radio is also an option we need to pursue. Radio is not expensive at all and can be effective with the right ad and audience.

f) Celebrity endorsements. A-list celebrities are expensive, but there are very popular celebrities that are not exactly A-list but have a huge following. Their fees are significantly less than an A-list celebrity but can be just as effective at making BlackCoin popular.

g) Sponsor poker tournaments and have the players paid in BlackCoin.

Infrastructure & Partnerships:
We have been very lucky to have been added to some of the top exchanges and services in such a short span of time. I think as a community we have been very effective in this area and we just need to keep contacting services and keep requesting they add us.

Coinbase is a Bitcoin only service but I think they are rethinking their position on that. If we can show how powerful and innovate BlackCoin is, maybe in the future we can convince them to add us.
Every time I send BTC to an exchange it takes a lifetime to  confirm. However, when you compare that to BlackCoin it seems almost instant. This is a major advantage and we need Bitcoin only services to understand Bitcoin is yesterdays technology.

Recruitment:
We need the most talented people onboard to help with this project. Talented and knowledgeable people are priceless, and we need to establish an environment that welcomes and nurtures talented people.
BlackCoin will succeed or fail based on the efforts of the community. Without a passionate and active community BlackCoin will slowly die like many coins before it.

Off Topic - Wallet Cloak

Yesterday Gritt pointed out I developed an app to allow people to encrypt and hide their Wallets within ordinary images. It is called Wallet Cloak and it is 100% free to use. I developed it because too many people has had issues with hacking and malware, and I wanted to create something that would help prevent that.

You can download Wallet Cloak here: http://www.walletcloak.com/download.php
FAQs: http://www.walletcloak.com/faqs.php
Quick Guide: http://www.walletcloak.com/quick-guide.php

That looks absolutely brilliant, nice one Iconic!

Thanks...

When a wallet is hidden within a image, it camouflages each section in a region of the image. The regions selected to save each bit of the wallet are chosen by performing several calculations with the password entered. The same calculations are performed when recovering the wallet data hidden within the image.

You can do some pretty cool stuff with the image after you cloak the wallet. For example: You can move the image to your phone or digital photo frame for safe keeping. No one will ever know it is there.

Getting closer and closer to James Bond.. very cool idea and concept.  Just make sure you don't have the "300" blackcoin image rotating through with your family images on your digital frame

+1...lol

Oh, come on, you are getting hypersensitive here. I don't want to bicker but I have seen these types of justifications many times, where the claim is always that the uglier design is somehow more functional. I don't mean to offend anyone, I just don't buy that type of rationalisation...

I agree with this.  As someone who has worked in UI design for decades, there are some simple rationales to follow, and Wulf's design is definitely a good one.

If you wish to have criticism be constructive... then you need to think as much about your tone as you do about the content.  I also agree that there is no reason not to have a more elegant layout involved and that the current design could be improved - but considering that the RAD environment used to produce the application was designed originally for the Atari ST (I actually didn't even know it had been made opensource and continued as a project) - there are undoubtedly some pretty ridiculous limitation as far as object layouts - i.e. it's not as elegant as a more modern IDE & language would provide.

However, there's absolutely no reason why someone couldn't start a project to produce a similar application using whatever design they chose... but IE has already stated that his application will be closed-source... so working on a separate project would probably be more fruitful than simply going around in circles trying to convince IE to do something different.  Wink

Huh?  Huh I just read what you wrote: " RAD environment used to produce the application was designed originally for the Atari ST"

Wrong Euphoria Smiley....

I am using my own custom flavor developed over the years: http://rapideuphoria.com/

My environment is flexible enough to do pretty much anything I want. However, to use Wulf's design I would literally have to start over to have the core design fit his design. But I will be making changes once everything is working well...

Perhaps I'm a little older than you, or you don't actually realize the origins of the language (I followed it's development casually back in the early 90s as I had an ST just laying around).  It's not the wrong Euphoria... it's just a very, very different animal than it was back in it's early 16-bit days. Smiley

The more you know:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euphoria_(programming_language)

I was correct when I said the "Wrong Euphoria".

You wrote: "RAD environment used to produce the application was designed originally for the Atari ST (I actually didn't even know it had been made opensource and continued as a project) - there are undoubtedly some pretty ridiculous limitation as far as object layouts - i.e. it's not as elegant as a more modern IDE & language would provide."

The current version of Euphoria is a completely different language compared to its predecessor from the early 90s. Furthermore, the custom version I am using barely resembles the version available on the website. Your post clearly implies that the limitations I mentioned were due to the limitations of its predecessor. You obviously were referring to the Euphoria from the early 90s, so in that regard it is clearly the "Wrong Euphoria".

I never made any mention of the origins of  Euphoria in my previous posts. However, I was pointing out it is much more sophisticated than what you implied. For the record  I have been using Euphoria before it was open source.

The more you know Smiley

This is imperative.  I've been utilizing #blackcoin #bc #bitcoin #btc #bclife #moon #pos #crypto.  These social media approaches need to all work in tandem as a web of information educating the masses of our benefits as a mainstream currency.

We need to be trending

I am glad you came on board and are helping! Hopefully the recent contributions of others will inspire more people to want to help.

PS: I will be posting my pan shortly. Please feel free to add and/or edit...

How about a professional business marketing plan! I know you talked about it earlier but Blackcoin really needs this. Blackcoin is on:

Facebook: but the page is a community page, not an official fan page > We need sponsored FB posts and Ads.
Twitter: is @coinblack the official Twitter account? Then the user should follow more (targeted) people and post more investment tips regarding to Blackcoin for unaware users, using trending investment hashtags. (like #forex).
Reddit: Tops!

Blackcoin should also be on Google, Pinterest and Linkedin. And we also need an official blog with articles that target our main keywords (bitcoin, blackcoin, investing, ...). People mostly google "bitcoin". We should have a Blackcoin blogpage that has "bitcoin" as main keyword  Cool

If you need people, I can startup, a business LinkedIn page and a Pinterest page. I know how to market them, (including the Facebook Ads that I'm willing to sponsor) it's part of my daily job  Wink
We also need a professional tagline btw.

My 2 cents

We need to be trending
Great we all agree on that  Wink
  • The LinkedIn page is done, I will keep it up to date https://www.linkedin.com/company/blackcoin - Please share it and follow us on Linkedin if you have a profile.
  • Pinterest already has a user "Blackcoin", but the page is empty. Any other propositions for a username?

+1 Perfect and thank you for taking the initiative on this!...

Is the program install or can you just run it solo? having that program on your computer is a dead giveaway that something is afoot.

Being able to encrypt the image and delete the program and delete all the cookies of the download would be the most secure.

Cookies wouldn't apply in this case, but you are correct. If someone had access to your computer and noticed you had Wallet Cloak, they can then assume some image had a hidden wallet. However, it doesn't matter because it is virtually impossible to recover the wallet. I will explain why...

1. He/she will first have to know which image contained the wallet. Most computers have hundreds or thousands of images stored on their PC.
2. If the person knew what image stored the wallet, then he/she would have to figure out which pixels within the image contains the information to recover the wallet.
3. If the person was able to recover the wallet, then he/she would have to use some kind of brute-force attack to decrypt the wallet.

When I have time I am going to cloak a wallet containing $500 worth of BlackCoins , upload the image to the web, and then issue a challenge to decrypt it. Obviously if the person is able to recover the wallet he/she will be $500 richer. That is how confident I am it cannot be cracked easily.

Nice challenge !

Not attacking how good the encryption is, and I'm not an expert but I was going for a true cloak. If you have no record of ever having downloaded wallet cloak that would be of greater benefit then having someone find the program and assume there is something hidden.

Cloaking to me is the idea that no one would ever know anything is amiss. Same thing about cloaking sensitive files on your hard drive.

The way around that is inserting a USB drive and installing Wallet Cloak to the USB drive. When you are not using Wallet Cloak just remove the USB drive.

But would you ever be able to access your wallet by mobile camera. (I'm guessing if the software could de-encrypt it, it could work)
But this is a brilliant thing to come up with that fast.

You would have to transfer the image from your camera back to your PC to decrypt it. If you have hardware lock disabled you can decrypt the wallet on any PC with Wallet Cloak installed.

What is Wallet Cloak?

Wallet Cloak is a robust security application used to encrypt and hide cryptocurrency wallets within image files. Wallets hidden with Wallet Cloak are undetectable and unrecoverable without the correct password. Wallet Cloak uses various techniques to protect wallets including: 256-Bit encryption algorithms, random pixel steganography, and hardware lock encryption keys. You can encrypt and hide any cryptocurrency wallet with Wallet Cloak, and images containing hidden wallets are fully functional as the original images.

Wallet Cloak is an ideal tool for individuals who want an extra level of security when backing up and storing their cryptocurrency wallets, and require their wallets to remain secure. Wallet Cloak is more than just an encryption application; it is also an electronic camouflage for your wallets. Other products just encrypt your files, but Wallet Cloak takes it a step further by hiding your file within image files, thus making your wallets secure and undetectable."

How does Wallet Cloak work?

Wallet Cloak compresses, encrypts, and then conceals wallet data within an image by modifying its colors in a manner that is virtually indistinguishable by the human eye. When a wallet is hidden within a image, it camouflages each section in a region of the image. The regions selected to save each bit of the wallet are chosen by performing several calculations with the password entered. The same calculations are performed when recovering the wallet data hidden within the image.

Is Wallet Cloak spyware or malware?

No! Wallet Cloak doesn't contain any spyware or malware components, and is 100% safe to install and use. I value the trust of my users and I would never bundle spyware or malware components with my software applications.

If I forget my password is there a master password or backdoor you can use to uncloak my wallet?

Absolutely not! Coding a backdoor in any security application and/or algorithm is not only unethical, but diminishes the credibility of the application and the developer. If you forget your password or no longer have access to the computer you used to cloak your wallet if hardware lock was enabled, then it is virtually impossible to uncloak your wallet. Please do not contact me asking if I can uncloak your wallet, I can't!

I hope the members here will find Wallet Cloak useful as it adds another layer of security for your precious BlackCoins.

100% agree. All I posted here was a concept for the GUI design. It seems that other posters in the thread think that this is a pitch for a new design. It's not, it's just a concept GUI I never wanted any sort of "mutiny" to try and force Iconic to change the design. It's not up to us to decide how the GUI will look, IconicExpert has invested his own time and money to make develop Blackcoin Cards, therefore we can't demand him to change anything. IconicExpert has already stated that my design will NOT work with the software. Please refrain from bashing people in this thread, like you've done with IconicExpert over the past page.

Thank you and I wish we had collaborated at the beginning stages of development. I would have definitely used many elements of your design. However, I will try and use some elements that can easily be changed in the app.

Wulf's redesigned GUI have to be the default one. Everything have to be perfect for the Wall Street promo.

If you agree make your voice heard.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. A lot of comments were posted so I will just answer them all here.

1. As I stated before this software will be tweaked many times over the course of the next few weeks and months. The goal now is to get everyone using the software and get feedback on the core functionality.

2. The cards and the software are a commercial product and eventually it will be adapted for other uses. This is not a community funded project and I will not taking votes on GUI design.

3. I never said the GUI was beautiful nor did I say it will not be changed over time. However, no design will please everyone.

4. I said Wulf's design was very nice but it literally cannot work with the design of the software.

5. I normally use a skinning engine but that would have been difficult to implement in this situation because certain dlls would have to be installed on the user system first. The skinning engine also uses a lot of memory and that defeats the purpose of the app.

Here are some of my products using a more "cleaner" design.

PS: I am use to criticism and negative comments. However, if we are going to encourage other people to join in and offer their talent then we need to be respectful of others work. There is a way you can offer suggestions without being rude. Lets try and keep it civil and change the tone around here.

Hi all

First off to Iconic, great work bud on the BlackCoin Cards, I can already see them being a huge success for BlackCoin and for crypto's in general. I had some free time today so I used it to redesign the BlackCoin Card GUI. It's just a concept, but I think it looks quite a bit better than the current GUI. Let me know your thoughts on it.

HI,

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I read your PM but I was very busy and I wanted to respond in detail. The GUI is constantly being tweaked and it will continue to be tweaked weeks and months ahead. When designing a GUI you have to take your core demographic into consideration when deciding layout, font size, color, element location...etc..etc. Unfortunately the wallet software has to appeal to a diverse demographic and finding the right balance will take tweaking. There has to be a balance between beauty and functionality.

Your design is very nice but it is not a practical design for my development environment. When you design GUIs for developers you have to know the limitations of the tools being used to create the software, and you have to have a general knowledge of GUI design from a developers point of view. Also, you always have to take the end-user into consideration when designing GUIs. What appeals to a young techie will not appeal to someone in their late 50s that most likely use corrective lenses and cannot read computer font well.

Thank you and keep up the good work!
Thanks man, no problem. I just wanted to show you my concept for the GUI. I understand that there as to be a balance between beauty and functionality, and the current GUI looks good. My concept was aimed more at the "young techie" rather than an elderly person, therefore it probably wouldn't be suited to as wide a demographic as your GUI.

Maybe Iconic will let your design become a skin option that people can use if they wish for the GUI on the BC card?

Yup Smiley Down the road I will implement a custom skin system. This is the very early stages of this software. There will be many features added and also removed over time. My next goal is to get everything localized so by late June / early July our Non-Enlgish speaking friends can enjoy BC in their native language.

BlackCoin Is Going To Wall Street

This is an outline of what my wife and I have been planning for a few weeks. Please take a few minutes to read.

I have been promising something big in May, and today I have decided to present my project to the community so together we can make it a reality! My wife and I have been working on this project behind the scenes, and it has never been done before in crypto. We want BlackCoin to be the first Cypto Currency to pull it off!

So what is the big idea?

We want to hire 50 attractive women dressed in BlackCoin T-Shirts, and for 2 hours these women will converge on Wall Street and hand out Wall Street Edition BlackCoin cards and sell sheets describing BlackCoin.

Everything I have asked this community to do has lead us to this moment and now it is time to explain my master plan.

1. I rallied this community together to fund the press release projects so we can introduce the BlackCoin brand to mainstream media outlets, and at the same time learn how to focus our energy towards a single objective.

2. I created the BlackCoin card because I knew in the future we needed something "physical" to allow people to touch and feel. It is hard to get people to believe in something that only exists virtually. The cards are loaded with software that will make it easy to buy, manage, and trade BlackCoins.

3. I rallied this community to contact strategic companies like Vault Of Satoshi because I knew for us to succeed we needed a direct Fiat to BC service here in North America.

4. Now that step 1 -3 has been accomplished,  everything is in place for the main event.

What will the main event accomplish?

This plan is to kill 3 birds with one stone.

a. The cards and sell sheets will introduce new investors to BC. Although Wall Street is the location we do not care if "whales" on Wall Street invests in BC or not. Wall Street is just the backdrop. We want BC to be associated with wealth!

b. We will attract the attention of mainstream media. Not everyday 50 beautiful women dressed alike converge on Wall Street. The event will be covered by local and international media outlets. My wife will be calling media outlets the day before and during the event.

c. We will be making crypto history and we will show the rest of the crypto community how determined we are to make BlackCoin #1.

What is needed to make this a success?

Casting studio rental for day (Cast girls for rvent)
50 Girls for 2 hours
50 T-Shirts
Water For Girls
1000 Cards + Retail Packaging
1000 Sell Sheets
Misc expenses: transportation..snacks...etc..etc

Total budget: $9540
Approximately 73,000 BC at the current exchange rate.

Note: I am not profiting off the cards we get made for this event, these will be community made cards at the wholesale factory price. I set 1000 cards as the minimum, but if we can raise more than $9540 I will get as many cards made as the donations allow.

Note: If we can raise $12,000 or more I will be able to hire a professional camera crew to follow the girls around. We can use that video to plaster all over the web and go viral!

This community has wanted something huge and I strongly believe this is what we need. Our recent partnerships with various companies have been great to make BC stronger, but it has done very little to get the  "BlackCoin brand out to the mainstream. We can have all the partnerships in the world, but if no one knows about us then partnerships mean very little. I think this event will give us the most ROI, and this will be the tipping point for BlackCoin.

To make this happen we need to raise the money by May 17th, and my wife and  I would like to do the event either the 29th or the 30th of May. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, and all comments and suggestions are welcome since it will take this entire community to make this happen.

Below is the donation addresses (Please make sure you use the addresses from this original post or my signature only. Previously scammers have attempted to replace donation addresses with their own addresses when replying to the post.

Donation addresses:

BC: BQQsUdYaqCGUDhdXPADto1gKwvEA2a92TP
BTC: 12jhNVMj5kk7akem2wxDwnpQvGdro3NzJ4
LTC: LT4hiypMuPLYQT2gu3gdMjvAMqhC1w12yJ
DOGE: DRJnZVTP64phDfdoWu5VnKUUSM7p8Tf4MT

We have raised approximately $3243
We have at least $6297 more to go.

I want to thank everyone who has contributed and every donation helps!!!

Lets Be More Proactive

Let address the elephant in the room. Some are concerned with the recent daily price drops. Seasoned investors keep telling the newcomers to calm down and everything will be fine, but it is hard for investors to calm down when they see the price slowly drop each day. I agree ups and downs are part of any financial product and unfortunately down days and down weeks are part of the game. However, that does not mean we need to sit around and watch the price slowly drop and not do anything about it. I witnessed the same behavior with the Mint community, and after weeks of delusional blind "faith" I cashed out. It has been nearly two months and they are still waiting for the price to recover. I respect the opinions of the other seasoned investors but we need to be realistic. Investors want to invest in winners not "losers". It is hard to convince investors we are a winner when they see the trend line pointing downwards.

At the end of March and the early part of April we were proactive at getting the word out about BlackCoin, and we were able to see clear results from our efforts. Last week and this week we did not do any promotional activities similar to what we previously did and the downward price reflects that. Our press releases and promotional campaigns do work and you can see the results for yourself. Just match the days and weeks of our press releases with the market history and you will clearly see the effect of our efforts.

We have had a lot of positive news over the past several days and we have not capitalized on that news. Next week we should send out two or three press releases. We have to keep pumping news out every single week like clockwork. Every time we are added to a new exchange, or a new partnership is established, we need to issue a press release.

Some people have this misconception I am against the multi-pool. I would like to publicly state I am not against the multi-pool. However, I believe too much focus and dependency is being put on the multi-pool. The multi-pool does not buy BC at the current sell price, they wait for dips. So this idea of the multi-pool buying up all the BC is just a myth. Also, please stop assuming that everyone who mines on the multi-pool is not dumping coins back into the system. I cannot express enough that crypto-currency is big business. Just because we do not have conclusive proof that there is a coordinated attack against BlackCoin doesn't mean it is not happening.

So can we finally open up discussion to other creative ideas and solutions. The multi-pool and press releases are just a couple of tools in our arsenal. We have a very talented community and I am sure we can come up with more solutions if we brainstorm together!

We as a community have to stop fighting with each other and start working together. Everything we have accomplished has been because of the work we have done together.

This community is great but it needs expand to rise.
Some event new features need to bring us new people on board.
We cannot go higher with only 1000 people on board.
We need more people like you like pool developers like marks who are able to create something.

I agree with this part 100%. This forum is a great tool to attract new talented people. However, what rational thinking person in their right mind would want to join us if we are attacking each other and acting juvenile? I understand there will always be trolls but the key members including myself have to change how we conduct ourselves moving forward. I would really like to hear some ideas on short term and long term solutions.
I will share on prive i don't want open public some ideas
to get others advantage of stealing idea.

That is the opposite of what we need to do. For weeks everything has been done behind closed doors. We need to discuss ideas openly so others can see us all work as a team and want to join in. We have to start being more transparent.

Glad your in the thread IconicExpert

Can you answer if you will be willing to give up a little time to the next livecast ?

I am sure the community would like to hear your ideas&answers to a few questions.

Hi..I am sorry I was not able to participate tonight. Like I previously stated I have orders to fill, a bunch of projects I am working on, and also a family that I must spend time with. As soon as things settle down I would be more than happy to participate in a livecast. A few people think I like the spotlight, but that is actually contrary to the truth. Smiley
