Let's talk about this example:

                           Tiffany & Co  Promise
                                VERIFIED COMPANY

We promise that we will send to you :
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2 18k gold rings,weight 10g
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Product(s) Manufacturing Date: 04/11/2021 4:55 AM
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Product(s) Expiration Date: no expiration date
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Shipping Date: 11/10/2021 8:21 PM
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Expected Delivery Date:  11/10/2021 8:21 PM
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Shipping Fee : FREE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Price:2000 USD for this promise
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
                         Promise Terms And Conditions
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Clicking The "BUY PROMISE" button
i agree with Tiffany & Co Terms And Conditions
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                 BUY PROMISE

This is a good promise for people that are engaged and want to get married ,but don't know when. They will not need to worry about price of gold after they buy promise ,they can even make money if gold price increases.

Rigs are not just chunks of gold. They have different sizes, jewels, engravings, maybe some are custom made with unique design...
How would that work ?
I buy 2 wedding rings from Tiffany & Co
I pay for them.
And will let them know when I need them.

Did I get this right ?

Now there are 2 scenarios (that I can see):

  • Tiffany makes the rings and has to store them somewhere (let's assume for a definite amount of time) untill I call and arrange delivery date
  • They take my money and request 1-2 weeks notice in advance so they can actually start to manufacture it when I call to set up delivery date

The fist option means storage space... expensive storage spaces
The second is risky as specifically on the date I call they might not be able to manufacture the ring in the promised amount of time (the 1-2 weeks mentioned) because reasons: do not have that emerald I picked on stock, supplier issues etc.

The only thing that comes to mind and would be a nice feature is for the second option: refund anytime (only 90% if done more than a week from order). So even if I pay for the ring ... 2 years later if I break up I can claim 90% refund and the company did not produce/ordered/lost anything on my expense, quite the opposite.

They have Corona token and Toilet paper Token...
Goes to show that any shitcoin (pun intended) can hit some exchanges

3 mBTC was added to your balance.

Thanks for the credit.
Got to almost 50% of the wagering requirements. Was fun.
I played Lucky7 and used autoplay a lot. Might help to see a bet history of sorts. If I use autoplay and I don't pay attention for a while and see that balance is slightly higher I personally would like to know how many hands ago did I win, how often, etc so I may adjust bet amount.
Overall decent platform. Smiley
166  Other / Meta / Re: Virus spreading on Bitcointalk (Tips to keep yourselves safe) on: April 01, 2020, 10:43:43 PM
I guess "stay at home" means local boards. Took a quick look and did not see the text glitches in locals. Or could (also) be own threads.
Quoting might indeed spread it faster
Wash your hands = logout + login (it's been said to work)
Closing borders... can you move a thread between boards? Smiley)
167  Other / Meta / Re: Report Malware and Suspicious Links here so Mods can take Action ! on: April 01, 2020, 09:13:18 PM
If you see some kind of threads or posts and you think its malware or other bad software you can post in here and we will looking into it !
Also if you see there is already the thread or the post written in this thread you can report the thread with the reference to the post in here
so its easier for Mods and Global Mods to check it and delete it , so more reports so better !

Will do ! Definitely send any malware-looking post/thread your way if I spot any .

regarding my previous post: if you search "mega.dp.ua" on bitcointalk you find 6 results:

  • 3 ANN threads that all seem to have been reported here
  • This thread
  • 2 posts from 2018

This is why I said it looked like there is some wrong doing with all the before mentioned ann threads... at least in my oppinion
Toilet-Paper-Coin, Investing Coin and Bubblegum Coin (the other one was trashed already: Aricoin, mentioned by Rikafip earlier)
168  Other / Meta / Re: Report Malware and Suspicious Links here so Mods can take Action ! on: April 01, 2020, 08:29:18 PM
Previously reported BubbleCoin finally released their wallet, can someone please check it out?

Same weird ass mega.dp.ua bullshit. All evidence points to malware.
Thanks for looking out for the rest of us guys!

Nice "inspect element" trolling. Kudos!

I found a medicine Smiley just log out to make the text clear.

This text virus is most likely linked with user session/login time so guests and private windows are not affected.

I understand the nervous reaction of some users (phillipma... hope all is good) but others are way too thin skinned for a public forum.
Overall I got to say... pretty inventive text glitching algo!
170  Economy / Securities / Re: My Idea for a financial instrument similar to forward contract on: April 01, 2020, 06:20:37 PM
Sorry to bother you again but saw a slight flaw in your "financial instrument"

At first glance it does sound great. But if you think about the product price cycle it's not always growing

  • If you make a purchase promise in the introduction period it's almost the same as pre-order. Nothing new there...
  • If you make a purchase promise in growth period, you (the buyer), would have a gain. But kind of hard to spot it.
  • If you make a purchase promise in the other 2 remaining periods chances are you will pay more now than you will pay later when the promise would be fulfilled

There are cases when a big chunk of the price are taxes and excise that can change over time like petrol or cigarettes. Not sure if it would work in those cases.
Companies that only sell via distributors and might not be able to promise they will definitely have product X on stock 7 weeks from know.

You could have a decent idea there but need to crunch some more numbers and polish it. And who knows, might be the diamond in the rough that will change the economy.

1.So what you are saying let's waste global energy and put more CO2 in the atmosphere to mine cryptos ...
2.Lighting network it's not direct on bitcoin ,it's a second layer ,means the transactions are not on the bitcoin blockchain it self.
3.Bitcoin will die before they do it we tried to do it when i worked as lead developer for stib,co but we did not have enough time and budget to complete research. We even tried atomic swaps we failed do to fact eth and btc different  ...sure there is wbtc but not a real atomic swap. Most people just cheat when they say they do atomic swaps, smart contracts on btc ,bitcoin was never designed for this.
4.Minimum Requirements  : 200 gigabytes of free disk space, accessible at a minimum read/write speed of 100 MB/s. (today 200gb ,tomorrow 1 petabyte)

Have you ever asked your self what will happen when there is no more bitcoins to be mined ? If no one to mine how will verify transactions ?

It's just not designed right for real life use.

This is not  my business ,i am a web developer ,i skipped 2 jobs interviews in another city do to fact we are stuck (coronavirus) ,now i wait for pandemic to pass and i look for freelancer work to pass time and make some money.

1. Over 74% of bitcoin mining is powered by renewable energy

2. Yes, LN is a second layer protocol, but transactions happen ON THE SAME BLOCKCHAIN !

How are bitcoins on the Lightning Network different from on-chain bitcoins?

They are exactly the same coins. There are no Lightning Network tokens. The only difference is that bitcoins are stored in multi-signature addresses and transactions are settled between two parties without broadcasting anything to the blockchain (except when opening and closing the channel).

3. Bitcoin blockchain is not very smart contract friendly, true, but it can be done (might not be worth it, but is doable) https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/yes-bitcoin-can-do-smart-contracts-and-particl-demonstrates-how

Also atomic swap can be achieved using LN : https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/atomic-swaps-how-the-lightning-network-extends-to-altcoins-1484157052

4. Buy 1 petabyte SSD Cheesy ... or 50 Seagate 20TB HDD (supposed to come out late this year)

What will happen when all bitcoins are mined ? What happens in 2141 ? I guess one can power up their personal sub-atomic particle generator to mine some transactions for sunday beer-night-out Smiley)))

Not designed for real life ? Did you actually click on any of the links in my post ?

This is an opportunity for btc developers to figure out a way for people to send small amounts of btc without high fees ,if they can't do it what's the point of Bitcoin ?

Problems with bitcoin :
1. You can't mine it with personal pc
2. You can't send small amounts of btc do to high fees
3. You can't do smart contracts using btc
4. Blockchain increases in size over time and costs more energy to run a node or to mine it  and so on ...

If someone would pay me to research solutions ,i would gladly do it , free work i don't do as i got to eat ,pay utilities etc.

1. You can't print money with your home printer. Same thing. No big problem Smiley
2. You can send small amounts. More about lightning network here: https://github.com/lnbook/lnbook  (Yes, it is a book on github! )
3. BTC smart contract: time lock, multisig ... if you don't believe me watch for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRI_n6MyUW0
4. You just download bitcoin core and wait for it to sync... and you have a node Smiley) (more or less)

Consider those links as a vouch copy Smiley Tho might need a little more that 5 seconds to read them and hopefully understand something

If a crypto or a token can't be used by a kid or a grandma with a cellphone to buy basic stuff ,that crypto/token is doomed . (low liquidity)

The whole crypto space needs to be secure and UI/UX is slightly more complicated. Wallets and systems are getting more basic and user friendly but it's not for everyone. Many still struggle to make a Revolut transfer, pay with sms etc. Grandma might need to stick to what she knows (there are exceptions tho)

Anyway... good luck with your business ! Click on the links if you want to learn. If you only want $0.04 just ignore !

Can someone ... confirm if Bitcointalk is now part of Russia's Federal List of Extremist Material?

Quote
In January 2015 a number of Bitcoin related websites were blocked (including bitcoin.org) because "it contributes to shadow economy"

So it would not suprise me that much tbh

179  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion: allow on-forum altcoin giveaways for established altcoins on: March 28, 2020, 02:57:53 PM
...The stance towards ICOs was terribly wrong, and everyone knows it. It led to the following: A handful of scammers getting rich, a handful of intelligent scammers getting rich, a fair number of people profiting from the pumping in these scams, and an enormous amount of people being financially harmed. Good stance indeed. Undecided

True ! That is why nobody here (luckily) will allow altcoin giveaways, ICO advertising and so on ... because even currently ok crypto can fail in awful ways and why should anyone here be (sort of) held responsible for that ?

If I have to post my casino username to get Bitcoin, it's the same type of no-value post as if I have to do the same to get Litecoin.
I understand very well that the bans were not issued for the spam part, but for taking part in an altcoin giveaway. I am just making a point.

In bitcoin we trust. In the others not so much. Would you bet your parent's house on any altcoin from coinmarketcap ? I wouldn't...

So "allow on-forum altcoin giveaways for established altcoins" ... no thank you !

Even cryptotalk (yobit forum) pays users in btc, not some weird new crypto from their investbox or ETH or their own coin(s) for that matter. That sure says something Smiley))

Thank you for allowing us to troll you. Roll Eyes

Indeed, always a pleasure Smiley
