1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: nano ledger - staking? on: Today at 03:03:27 PM
I put some ETH, ETC, LINK, DOT, BNB and MATIC on my ledger. Is there a way to generate a passive income for these if I keep them on my ledger?
And why do you need it? Trading on the ledger is done through partners, and I wrote about cases where they got in big trouble because their assets were blocked. Also, learn about staking first. It is better to work directly with each project, and then you will have full control over your coins. I had to transfer the polcadot to another wallet because some of the functions in the ledger did not work when participating in auctions for parachains.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do in this case? on: Today at 02:52:49 PM
A well known crypto newbie contact me about two crypto project he his currently holding, Mina Protocol and Fuel, the problem is Alameda and FTX are big investors of these two projects, he is asking if he should sell his bag and replace with other altcoin?

Is this a good reason to sell off your coins and replace with another that Alameda and FTX aren't involved? Pls drop your idea .

What will you do in this case?
Has your friend studied the tokenomics of projects and the schedule for distributing tokens from investors? Does he know the schedule for unlocking these tokens from Alameda or FTХ? Or does he want other people to do analytics for him for free?
If it's a small amount, like a few thousand dollars, then I wouldn't do anything. If the amount is greater, then you need to analyze these assets.
3  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-10-07] Visa partners with FTX on: Today at 02:44:07 PM
I have another interesting news about Visa
https://cointelegraph.com/news/fintech-company-zelf-launches-anonymous-visa-debit-card-with-crypto-recharge
Fintech company ZELF launches anonymous Visa debit card with crypto recharge
The company’s latest initiative will allow users to open up a U.S. dollar checking account with only their name, email, and phone number.
How is this possible? I can rent a phone in another country and use this bank card.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin is Islamic" -by Economist Bruce Fenton on: Today at 02:40:55 PM
There isn't a need to drag religion into this. Bitcoin just like Fiat can be use the right way and also be misused according to Islamic teachings. With fiat you could lend them with or without interest, same goes to bitcoin lending, the lenders could decide to add in interest it is now left for the lendee to reject the offer if he is on Islamic ruling. The edge bitcoin has over banking sectors is its ability to be controlled by the owner whereas in banking some actions are taken with the owners knowledge. And some of these money in banks are used for businesses that are frowned upon based on teachings of Islam. With bitcoin they have total control of it.

Otherwise bitcoin usage goes same way as the fiat just the investor has the deciding factor.
The main question has always been what is bitcoin in relation to Sharia law. If it is money, then the owners have certain obligations, for example, paying zakat if you had a certain number of coins during the year. If it's a product, then that's another matter.
5  Bitcoin / Legal / EU crypto taxation proposal will target firms all over the world on: Today at 02:17:05 PM
https://www.theblock.co/post/193234/eu-crypto-taxation-proposal-firms-global
Companies offering EU residents crypto services will need to report on transactions to tax authorities.
The European Commission aims for the new rules to be enforced on Jan 1. 2026.
“Tax authorities currently lack the necessary information to monitor proceeds obtained by using crypto-assets, which are easily traded across borders,” the European Commission wrote in a statement. “This severely limits their ability to ensure that taxes are effectively paid, which means European citizens lose important tax revenues.”
6  Local / Альтернативные криптовалюты / Re: Telegram Open Network (TON): Павел Дуров выходит на ICO on: December 08, 2022, 12:59:31 PM

Cheesy
На аукционе нужно ждать 5 дней и я не нашел номеров по 9 тон. Цены в несколько раз выше.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SAM THE FOUNDER OF FTX on: December 08, 2022, 12:50:29 PM
https://decrypt.co/116506/why-isnt-sam-bankman-fried-behind-bars-yet
"Why Isn’t Sam Bankman-Fried Behind Bars?
Spoiler alert: it hasn’t yet been determined whether he did anything criminal.
Gorman said that despite the fact that SBF is being investigated by “everyone you think of in Washington, D.C.,” none has made a determination as to whether criminal charges need to be brought forward. And if criminal charges are brought forward, it will be some time before anyone is behind bars. "

SBF and now have a great rest in the Bahamas.

Quote
In a discussion with Andrew Ross Sorkin of The New York Times, Sam Bankman-Fried blamed “huge management failures” and sloppy accounting for the collapse of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange.

Source: Transcript of Sam Bankman-Fried’s Interview at the DealBook Summit

Quote
SORKIN: Were you truthful with us today?

BANKMAN-FRIED: I was as truthful as I am knowledgeable to be. There are some things I wish I knew more about. But, yes, I was.

Interesting reading, I am not sure if he is just young and stupid... maybe he got carried away with billions in his pocket and all the fun at this young age. Or if he is trying to manipulate... I guess we will find out very soon, this FTX story will not end anytime soon.
Everyone can think what they want, but if you analyze the situation, then think about how Sem managed to build such a large exchange and who gave him the resources?
CZ gave it to him at the request of the SEC regulators when Binance was in trouble. It is difficult to prove and this is my opinion, but this situation is not accidental.

https://thecryptobasic.com/2022/12/07/ethereum-developers-confirm-shanghai-upgrade-will-enable-staked-eth-withdrawals/
"Ethereum developers, in a recent call, confirmed that they will roll out the Shanghai upgrade without EIP 4844 to eliminate delays in enabling withdrawals for staked ETH.

Ethereum developers, during the 99th Consensus Layer (CL) call held on December 1, have disclosed that they will be rolling out the Shanghai Upgrade without EIP 4844 to eliminate delays in Ethereum staking withdrawals, per a Galaxy Insights report.

Notably, the conclusions from the meeting confirm the previous report by The Crypto Basic, where developers expressed the belief that they could roll out staking withdrawals with the Shanghai upgrade in March. Furthermore, it clears any doubts about a significant delay."
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Telegram Launches Blockchain-Based Simcard Number on: December 08, 2022, 12:31:40 PM
This news seems real. But not sure about the level of  privacy we get with these anonymous numbers. Are they safe just like our normal number??

$16 sounds expensive just to get a phone number so I'd hope something like that was secure. I've seen hosting providers charge that as an annual rental of a static IP address too so perhaps that's how much each cost.

And I do think email would be superior to both of these too but perhaps there's an app you have to install with the number that makes it a bit more secure than a passworded email in some cases (like when users pick bad passwords).
There are many services that will allow you to register telegrams and accounts of other popular messengers for 0.1-2 dollars, depending on the chosen country. But on average, it costs no more than $ 1.
And any wallet that is connected to the phone is either not secure or not confidential.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tornado.Cash Sanctioned by the US on: December 08, 2022, 12:17:51 PM
There are still 6 similar cryptocurrency mixers in the Ethereum ecosystem: RAILGUN, Buccaneer V3, White Ethereum, 0xTIP, Messier 87 Black Hole and Cyclone Protocol
https://www.elliptic.co/hubfs/tornado-cash-alternatives.pdf
"Elliptic’s internal analysis identifies Cyclone Protocol as the highest risk amongst the Tornado
Cash alternatives active today. Its high transaction limits, the relatively large liquidity of its
mixing pools and its ability to mix the token of a sanctioned entity (TORN) makes it a cause
for concern. It’s confirmed use to launder at least some proceeds of DeFi exploits, the large
amount of funds it has since processed and the apparent absence of its developer team to
address concerns only strengthen these risks.
Also scored “medium-high” is Buccaneer V3, which has not addressed any AML concerns
throughout its development. BV3 is unique to the other protocols as it takes the form of a
token, rather than a service. A main mitigating factor of BV3, however, is that it claims to utilize
technology that is currently being tested. Whether it lives up to the features and capabilities it
has promised remains to be seen – with several rival obfuscation protocols casting doubt that
it can.
The remaining protocols all have mitigating factors arguably significant enough to ward
off large-scale illicit use. RAILGUN, while popular, generates compliance reports and has a
partially doxxed development team, meaning that it will likely comply with any investigations.
Its technology has also been scrutinized by rivals. Messier 87, meanwhile, has actively stated
that it will comply with subpoenas and provide such reports to authorities. Finally, White
Ethereum and 0xTIP struggle with low mixing limits and low liquidity pools respectively, making
them unviable replacements for Tornado Cash-level obfuscation at present.
Elliptic will continue to monitor the post-Tornado obfuscation industry across Ethereum Virtual
Machine (EVM)-compatible chains and update both virtual asset businesses and investigators
when new risks emerge. To keep ahead of these risks and receive updates from Elliptic’s
Research & Investigation Team, sign up to Elliptic Connect and stay updated with our weekly
newsletter."

12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nigerian government set to tax bitcoin and crypto transactions on: December 08, 2022, 12:12:19 PM
The Central Bank of Nigeria ordered the country's banks to limit the issuance of cash at ATMs.
https://www.cbn.gov.ng/Out/2022/CCD/RevisedCashWithdrawal.pdf
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/12/breaking-cbn-reduces-cash-withdrawals-to-n100k-n500k-per-week-for-individuals-companies/
"The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced a new policy that mandates deposit money banks and other financial institutions to ensure that over-the-counter cash withdrawals by individuals and corporate entities do not exceed N100, 000 and N500, 000, respectively, per week."
It's a way to get people to use the CBDC. I don't think this way will be successful.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH discarded miners, why don't we create A New One-Like named Ethanol? on: December 07, 2022, 07:10:07 PM
No pre-mine. No crowd-sale. A real community-run. And begin with block height 0#.

PoW, ethash-algo.

yes, tokens, dApps, DAOs, ICO, DeFi, NFTs... exactly alike, because we can copy its code.

okay, probably short of ethic, but they cheat us first, don't they?

now, what do you think?
Ethereum on the proof of stake protocol has a low transaction speed, no more than 40 transactions per second. Modern blockchains have a real TPS of several thousand transactions, while modern competitors announce TPS of several hundred thousand transactions. This is not the best development path for a new project in today's world.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trading Crypto With a Job.. on: December 07, 2022, 07:02:42 PM
Does anyone here day trade crypto successfully whilst working a full time job?

I have medium experience with trading crypto and over the last few weeks have been mainly using the TradingView scalping indicator from https://cryptochiefs.io with good results. The problem is that I find it really difficult to manage the trades properly whilst working as they move fast any normally require that I am watching the screen. Kind of thinking I either need to forget about the idea or scale up from where I am and go full time.

Those of you with normal jobs, are you day trading or mainly long term crypto investors/ HODLers?!!
I tried scalping, but the profit there is very small, and sometimes the time spent on it does not pay off. I think that over time you will increase the trading interval, because it is very tiring. Sometimes a simple hodling brings much more profit than various trading strategies, but most people do not have the patience to buy and do nothing.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Careful where you connect your wallet on: December 07, 2022, 06:54:12 PM
Right, don't be too easy to connect wallet, now too many scam programs will steal assets when we connect, do not believe in the token in the wallet that we do not know, usually, they include a website to connect the wallet, and we can be sure after the connection then Our assets will be stolen.
Before connecting make sure to do some research however it is very important,
scams are everywhere and we must always be careful,
small mistakes will make our assets stolen so we have to be wise

You can probably lose all your funds with just one wrong click. Nowadays, scammers are targeting wallets with weak security so it is necessary to double-check every link that you're clicking or linking in your wallet or as much as possible, try not to connect anything to it. Scammers can easily create fake domains so you better be observant. Hackers and scammers are being more active especially now that the holiday season is approaching. Your wallet is your personal responsibility so you need to be vigilant so you can keep your funds safe and try not to fall for hackers' trap.
It is good that you will carefully check the sites so as not to become a phishing attack, but you will not be able to check every smart contract. Therefore, the best option would be to create a separate wallet for each project or cancel the approvals for each project.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Telegram plans own wallet and exchange on: December 07, 2022, 06:40:22 PM
Pavel Durov has already tried to launch a major project and was punished for this by regulators.
Now I have a question: did he agree with the regulators or not?
Pavel Durov says that he has nothing to do with this project and there was this auction recently

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Careful where you connect your wallet on: December 07, 2022, 03:04:54 PM
Recently there are some sites, which give free Nfts, like (the football world cup Nfts, etc), that are worth around 10$ each Nft for free. So, people think that it is free and that we are getting 10$, but in meantime, they hacked the wallets. which are connected to their website. So, I think we should aware of such stuff if they are even giving it free.
It is necessary to separate 2 concepts: This is the connection of the wallet and the interaction with the smart contract. In the first case, site administrators will see your IP address and wallet address. But if you make transactions in the hope of getting free NFT tokens, but in fact it will be a fraudulent smart contract that will gain access to your assets, then you will lose money. For such cases, you need to have a separate wallet.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many layer 1 or 2 projects are enough for a crypto portfolio? A on: December 07, 2022, 02:59:15 PM
I don't know why I feel disgusted when I look into layer 0, 1, 2 projects to invest in.

There are too many of them and they have almost same utility, why the need of these excess layer block chain? Now it'd Aptos, Sei is coming, Arbitrum will soon be here, there is also SUI and we have Metis, oh yes I almost forget about Optimism and few others ..

I don't even know which one to go for.
If you are talking about layer 2 solutions for ethereum, then they are similar at first glance, but their protocols differ in security. You need to ask more specific questions or learn the nuances yourself. If you are talking about old Ethereum competitors and new projects such as Aptos, Sei, then the number of projects in your portfolio depends on your risks.

If you are a crypto fanatic please look into Umami Finance for me and drop your opinion, any will be welcome and if you have a better one do let me know, I just want me a serious Defi project for long term hold.

It's impossible to write an opinion on the DeFi project after a brief excursion. You need to carefully study the project and evaluate all the risks, and there are a lot of risks here. I prefer to invest in well-known projects, the price of which has fallen by 80-90% from ATН.
